Unfinished entry for the Edelsteine concept contest. With indecision about whether I should bother, stuffs happening, and Saf coming to visit, I never did get finished. Besides that, it's not like I don't have the money for a custom...I just have to be patient. lol Pretty piecemeal, since it's actually a concept I've had floating in my head for quite some time now...so, seeing as it doesn't have to look nice to go into my journal, I just cobbled bits together from this notepad file and that one.
Diety Concept's Name: Desiderio "Rio" Diety Concept's Power/influence: Pleasure Diety Concept's Gender: Male Gem type: ??? Faceted Smooth, sparkly, and multicolored. XD Describe the appearance and personality of your diety.: Very dark, nearly black skin, with touches of leopard spotting in black down his neck and back, as well as (maybe) some on his arms and legs, and coming out from the corners of his eyes; cat-pupiled, rainbow-y eyes; white/iridescent curling ram horns, horse tail, and leathery/bat wings; long pointed ears; shoulder-length, wavy black hair with a thick section to the right of his face a sort of warm rainbow (see note below).
Desiderio's personality is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a god of pleasure. Typically very unconcerned with consequences or the weightier things in life; carefree and indulgent; confident and optimistic (often overly so in both); has a flare for the dramatic and theatrical (very much likes attention); going along with his vibrant and showy personality, Rio's also fond of clothing and jewelry, fancy but still at least sort of tasteful; shallow, but where emotions are concerned, not physical appearance. Pretty much incapable of actually being 'in love,' as he's more for uh...spreading the love and good times around. At once completely selfish and entirely selfless, the pleasure of others can be as much of a concern as his own; he's out to please both, which can be a hard thing to balance.
[Note 1: While Rio's gem and eyes are rainbow-y, it's not full rainbow -- it's a 'warm' one, missing the cooler colors, with the exception of a bit of pinky-purple that's somewhere in-between. The rest is all reds/yellows/oranges and a some deep/intense pink. As here.
Note 2:I guess his appearance might be a little 'over the top' what with this feature and that, but that seems rather fitting for Pleasure, no? Although I admit I am being terribly indulgent -- it would just look cool -- they are things that can have some reason applied. Bacchus (if he's not close to Pleasure...) was associated with both the leopard and the ram, and the wings are a nod to the stereotypical Devil. The slit pupils are a leftover from Alex. Okay, so I can't come up with a real good reason for the horse tail, except for...stallion=virility? XDD]
Concept Host Name: Mariana Alexandra Korzha "Alex" Concept Host Gender: Female Describe the appearance and personality of your host: Race: Vampire Age: 24 (turned at 19) Height: 5'8" Skin: Pale gold Eyes: Red-gold Hair: Straight, waist-length black, ends dyed red
History: Mariana Alexandra Korzha, or Alex for short, is Romanian -- although she's never been anywhere near Romania in her entire life. Her parents emmigrated, and Alex was born and raised in the United States, taught next to nothing about her parents' homeland. The only knowledge of it she boasts is her fluency in Romanian, since her parents never did take well to English.
The young vampire came to Gaia several months after she was turned, presumably with the help of whoever had turned her in the first place; but she never talks about either, so it's hard to say for certain. Perhaps her flight was somehow connected to the death of her parents?
Character: Alex is not a modest girl by any means; she's not vain or arrogant, but she is what you might call shameless. She nearly always dresses in a way that comes close to making her look buyable; and she plays up her vampire look at the same time, wearing little other than red and black. This is not someone trying to blend in. To all appearances, she's not only entirely comfortable being what she is, but evidently she's proud of it, too.
She does what she wants, when she wants, although not in a purposely malicious way. She just likes things that feel good: blood, sex, drugs, alcohol. Roughly in that order, too.
Alex has a definite cynical edge to her confident, self-assured exterior, which has something to do with her tendency to do pretty much whatever the hell she wants; she's already damned regardless, so what's a little sin?
PROMPT: (Veeeery incomplete; all I've got's the fusing bit. xd ) Alex combed her fingers through her hair, nails scraping against scalp, and stopped with her hands at the back of her head, curling her fingers until she clenched fistfuls of hair in her hands. She stayed that way, hunched over with her elbows propped on bare, crossed calves, and almost wept.
But no tears came; there was only the heavy twisting of a heart that no longer beat, but still felt...and the weight of melancholy in her mind, so heavy as to make her shoulders bow, her head to sink lower until her forehead nearly touched her legs, fingers slipping further through her hair.
She didn't close her eyes, only stared blankly down at her own lap, focused on thoughts she wasn't thinking, not in words. They were the weight in her mind, unspoken and unspeakable, known but incomprehensible. They didn't need to be anything; they simply were.
Until, after what could have been moments as easily as hours, the sight of the precious stone in her lap came into focus, and with it, her reflection in its surface. A pale face lit by red-gold eyes, inhuman eyes -- her eyes, reflected in the mirroring gem.
She'd never realized, before this, that (insertstone) reflected anything but light...were all reflections just reflections of light? Was that the physics of it? But then, Alex had never much liked science, didn't really care how most things worked. They just...they just did. Why should it matter how? Why take all the magic and mystery from life? All the fun?
What did scientists know, anyway? To scientists, vampires shouldn't exist. I shouldn't exist. God, or gods, shouldn't exist. But they do, too. I have one right here, in my lap. He exists -- almost. Just..almost...
Her hands flexed, curling tighter in her hair. Her eyes closed for a moment, and her head turned to the side, pressing against the silky flesh of her forearm. Her expression was on the verge or tears, of crying out, of pain...but she didn't take the leap. Instead, she sighed, letting go of her hair and allowing her arms to drop into her lap. Her hands came to rest one on each side of the gem, close but not touching. She regarded it almost wistfully, until with a twitch of a forefinger she stroked it's side.
Almost existing..almost, but not quite...it was such an awful thought, somehow. To be so close, just on the edge, somewhere in the misty grey between life and oblivion, lost and drifting and powerless. Either direction had to be better than the indefinite. Oblivion...would it really be as bad as it sounded? A fate worse than death?
No...no, not for me. Not worse. Not worse than death...death, and eternal damnation. I..I'd rather have nothing. Her eyelids drifted shut again, contemplative. Oh, vampirism was all well and good, for now, but nothing ever lasted, did it? It would end, either with a creeping dawn or a draught of holy water, it would end, and she would die, and spend the rest of forever in a misery straight out of and infinitely worse than her childhood dreams. Dreams of Hell.
Her eyes snapped open, and the light in them was determined. Focused, more focused than in..in days. Weeks? She snatched up the gem in her left hand, fist curling tight around it until the cold stone pressed unbearably into her palm.
Is it suicide, or is it sacrifice? Is there even a difference?
As she answered her own question with a whisper "No," she turned the warm gem over in her hand. Warm..? Well, she had been holding it, but no...no, she had no body heat to give it. Shaking her head, she clutched it to her, against her stomach, to one side. She was just imagining things...wasn't she? She didn't want to be...she wanted it to be real, like mysteries and vampire and the magic of everyday life. Real like...like gods.
Her eyes slid shut once more, covering the shine with streetlights with the dark grey of nothingness. Was this what it was like, where He was lost? Lost, calling out for a guide, for a host, someone to lead Him back to life. Someone to answer His call. But who would; would anyone?
I will. Drowning in the grey behind her closed eyes, she reached out her right hand, I will, I DO!
Her fingers curled loosely, reflexively, as though grasping something more than air, and then the warmth from the jewel blazed into burning heat, and her hand clenched tightly into a fist as her eyes flew open, fixing on the clouded stars above for a moment before she lost everything to pain like a blinding flash of light.
In an instant the jewel seared its way into the flesh of her side, an instant where she could do nothing but scream, and go on screaming when the fusion's agony didn't stop there. She crumbled, writhing on the stone of the pathway and crying out. Her skin, her flesh, continued to burn, pain radiating out from the gem in a slow, excrutiating circle, working its way over and inside her.
It housed a god, holy power incarnate, and the intimate contact threatened and burned her cursed body, whether the power intended it or no. But it didn't overtake her, couldn't overtake her, not yet. It was still weak...He was still weak.
At last, after one final, twisting spasm of her body, Alex passed out with one gasping breath, and fell still. For an inch on either side of the jewel, her skin had blackened, charred in its proximity to that house of the deity inside, who now stirred and stretched within this new vessel.
He stretched like a cat, languid, with the slow rolling of metaphysical muscle that had been so long contained and trapped in that tiny space. His mental smile took its time in forming, as he savored the feel of this new, shared space. Slowly, the smile stretched into delighted, self-satisfied grin.
Though he was truly sorry for the necessary pain the fusion had inflicted on the girl, on his host...well, it had been necessary...he was pleased, oh so pleased, that it had happened. He would live again, feel again! Through her, with her, at first, until the roles were reversed, and then...well, best not get too far ahead of himself.
Until then, sharing the feelings of life did have its own pleasures...although he did not count the ache of a burnt side among those, or wouldn't have ordinarily, but it was the first physical feeling he had experienced in so long, so he found himself savoring it despite its general unpleasantness.
There would be other things, better things, he was sure. Truly pleasurable things. But first...first, he had to somehow get her to wake up and go somewhere she could pass out safely. He did not intend to go up in flames with the dawn out here.
Sometimes, even Desiderio, Pleasure himself, could be practical. Sometimes.
Very first concept I really played with was god of War, Itztlac, and Alex was originally intended as a host for him. It's also part of the reason I gave Rio leopard spots; they were a leftover element of Itztlac's design that I really liked (well, with Tlac they were jaguar spots). Tlac would have had long black hair in a sort of topknot, crow wings, and some kind of predator's tail. Also clawed hands and feet. Gold eyes, red streaks through his hair and possibly through his wings.
And honestly, he's still really tempting, and I'm still kind of torn. I still really like Alex as a host for Rio, but there is something appealing about her as a host for Tlac. It would be hard to come up with another one for him who I liked as well as I do Alex. Hmph. Indecision. >.>
Of course, as always, Justice would be tempting too...though I don't have her nearly as fleshed out, at least when it comes to appearance and host. I think I have a decent handle on what her personality would be, in my head at least. Edit: Okay, couldn't resist at least putting together what she might look like. Color scheme of white, purple, and black, with wings like a barn owl (only patterned in whites/greys/pale purple instead of browns), possibly a crocodile tail (white with bits of purple scaling). Her hair would be chin-length and black, and she would wear a blindfold (purple?). Name Kyrjadis.
But in the end, it's really Rio who has my heart. So Tlac=not gonna happen, and unless I can actually come up with something that really catches my mind for Kyri, it won't be her either.
