Lazarus Vale (Born Losair Va'lasu), was and is still considered unusual for a drow. Not like the well-renown Drizzt Do'urden, but in the fact that his cruelty and sadism knew no bounds. Enrolled in the Wizard's School at the age of 100, Lazarus took to the teachings like a fish to water, what entranced him most was the ancient and forbidden Art of Necromancy. Mastering all he could while he was there, Lazarus graduated top of his class... with more than a few 'classmates' as his undead servants.
In the House Wars of his people, Lazarus became feared and only spoken of in whispers, even by his own family. It was during this time that is characteristic blood lust abated and he became more and more stoic. After a slaughter of a rival house, in which he batted not an eye as he personally slaughtered the royal children of the doomed house, he earned the nickname and title of "Pax the Unfeeling". He grew so far in power, he surpassed the abilities of his cleric sisters (who were supposed to be better than him in all ways). His mother, Soren, grew fearful of his power and the possibility that he might turn on her. She sent assassins to get rid of a possible rebellion before it started. Needless to say, it didn't work.
Lazarus escaped the city, but not before crippling his house. He killed all but two of his sisters, amputated his mother's leg, and killed his brother, the weapon-master. He searched the tunnels for a long time before discovering a small dark elf city. He integrated himself into the community and was peaceful there...until they tried to kill him. After the attempt Lazarus unleashed a plague that rotted both the physical and the spiritual. Houses collapsed, souls were dissolved, skin, muscle and blood disintegrated. Lazarus left the town in utter horror.
From his time there, he learned of a Crypt that was close by, apparently appearing there by a human wizard's experiment. He discovered the tomb and met the 'human'. He turned out to be a Lich of some renown on the surface world. Studying under the Lich, Lazarus grew even further in power, able to transcend into Lichdom if he wanted to. The Lich too had grown in power, leeching off the black aura that Lazarus produced, he transcended into a Demi-Lich and was content to guard his previous home whenever Lazarus was not there to guard over it. And so it continued to this day...
