My seventh avatar tales thingys! I've been wanting to a Japanese themed avatar for a while now, but was having problems putting something together that I was happy with. After some experimentation this is the result! Unfortunately I'm horribly with Japanese names so I stole his from the fantastic Akira Kurosawa movie, Yojimbo.

Kuwabatake Sanjuro - A Steampunk Samurai

Kuwabatake Sanjuro hails from a alternate history Japan during the late Tokugawa Era. There he was a mid level samurai whose immediate family had died in a natural disaster. With no other real ties to the world outside of his job, he threw himself into his work as a mid level bureaucrat with the utmost vigor and dedication. Eventually his lonely situation and dedication to his work brought him to the attention of his superiors. They offered him a chance for promotion in exchange for partaking in a human augmentation experiment involving steam and the mysterious substance known only as "aether".

As part of the experiment all of Kuwabatake Sanjuro's limbs were replaced with mechanical ones and his torso was heavily modified and encased in a metallic shell which houses his remaining vital organs. His face was also deformed and encased in a large helmet and mask which provide him with a number of visual enhancements (magnification lenses, infra red lenses, etc.), an audio speaker capable of altering and amplifying his voice, and more. The mask and helmet also have small vents within them to vent any excess heat built up from the steam and "aether" which powers his new body.

Fully remade, Kuwabatake Sanjuro served as a prototype for the Shogun's mechanized division. He currently serves as a military official within the division he helped create which also includs similarly enhanced warriors, steam and "aether" driven war machines and more.
