my f***ing journal
Blah blah blah blah blah blah . . .
Sin

I am the burning beneath your skin,
The reason why you can't get the sight of her out of your mind,
The culprit behind the motionless victim lying in your bed.
I am the fire bubbling within your veins,
Tempting you with simple glances and revealing attire.
I am the Lust.

I am the opponent you cannot fight,
The reason each day is more difficult than the first,
The one that grows stronger as you weaken.
I am the cloud
Wrapping you in a blanket of deception, I wait for your eyes to heavy and your legs to give way.
I am the Sloth.

I am the bee, stinging you deep and true.
I am the reason you shattered the mirror
And burned those photos of him with her.
I am the construction worker,
Quietly building and building a tower of disgust upon unstable ground,
The reason you just can't take it anymore.
I am the Envy.

I am the internal cauldron,
Bubbling and burning away as the clock ticks on,
Stirring the elements rapidly, helping them to splash out over the sides.
I am the boy on the news who blew away his school,
The woman who drowned her insufferable children in the bathtub.
I am the Wrath.

I am the mirror, on your side.
I let you see exactly what you want, and nothing less.
I am the voice in your head, criticizing every stride of others with a snicker.
I am the man in the coffee shop who knows his value right down to the penny,
The actress who wouldn't spit on the poor if they were on fire.
I am the Pride.

I am the hunger, the need, the want.
I am your every desire, and I wave it in your face until you crack.
I am the filth and the luxury, rolled into one,
The diamond beckoning for your finger to hold me,
The man who is the definition of wealthy.
I am the Avarice.

I am the crippling desire,
The voice in your head saying, "Just one bite".
I am the pig on the table, ushering you to the buffet.
I am the parasite;
I need you alive, and well.
I am the malnourished and the famished,
Made of eyes of need and hands of greed.
I am the Gluttony.

Random poem I just made up -- totally improvised.
Thoughts?

I'll admit, I hate poems. Despise them really. I blame school, making me analyse them.

However I liked your poem, it has made my list of poems worth reading. The title caught my attention actually, so I kept reading and couldn't help but grin. I love the little details that inspire a world, they're simple but intriguing at the same time. The flow of the poem was easy to read, easy to follow along and the tone assisted the imagery that you were able to create. My favourite parts (I know there is a professional word for it but I can't think of its spelling) were Gluttony, Avarice, Pride and Envy. They connected with me the most and created the most vivid images in my mind. Overall, I liked your poem and you have a flair for it. I recommend reading David Browning if you haven't already his poems are lovely; the only ones I enjoyed when in school. Particularly The Labatory (at least I think that's what it's called).

Lovely poem, I enjoyed.

Thanks a ton! And yeah, I really don't care much for poems -- I just felt like writing something about the sins and . . . well, this happened. And like I said, thanks! I actually haven't heard of him, before, but I think I'll have to check him out, now.
