There's a picture on the wall in my mother's room.
There are actually many pictures, mostly paintings, fake of course.
But this one picture is special, this picture is like a dream.
This picture is a simple cityscape, of a highway over looking a part of New York City
If you saw the buildings themselves, you wouldn't know where you were
You would think you were in any city
That's the beauty of it
It's a road that's somewhere, but it looks like it goes anywhere.
I always used to imagine the cars were moving, going to work, going home, going and going and going. I would imagine I was in one of those cars, making my way through the city that never sleeps. Driving home in to the arms of a loved one, sitting down my things and saying "I'm home", sitting at a table to eat dinner and talking about the day I had just had. In that single picture I saw everything that I wanted in life, in that one single moment someone captured, I saw every moment I wanted to have.
That's the beauty of still life, it stops, but your mind keeps it going.
