Chapter 1 – A Troubled Childhood
This is the story of Felix. Before I begin, I shall briefly explain Felix and touch on Felix's childhood. Felix's appearance was nothing out of the ordinary. He was Caucasian and had had brown wavy hair; he was a little tall with a slightly distinct jawline, and average sized hands. No extra ordinary features, Except his eyes. Although he had had a troubled childhood, his eyes would sparkle a look only the most innocent would possess. His eyes had a rare reflective pigment that caused them to almost always match what he was wearing. Sometimes they would be brown, sometimes blue, and some times hazel. In addition to the reflective pigment, he also had white speckles in his iris.
Felix was a only child with 2 step brothers, whom he never really talked to nor cared about. Their names were Danny and John. They were much older than Felix and had been living on their own since Felix was 7. They were both in the business of selling used cars, and both liked to gamble, and enjoyed hunting. Felix's father was very proud of them. They were almost exactly the same, except for appearance. John was tall and skinny with short brown hair and was very tan from long hours in the sun. On the other hand, Danny was a lot bigger than John and his completion was rosy and although he too spent time in sun, he only got sunburns.
Felix lived with his mother, April. She was a bit to overprotective, and did not let Felix wonder off to often. She was too attached to him and would worry even when Felix was at school. He never go to go to his friends house and the list of friends allowed to come to his house was limited to the friends who had parents that knew Felix's mother, Which were very few.
Felix's mother was also, however, a bad influence on the young pup. She was very anti-social and tried to impose this on young Felix. Plus, she was always constantly smoking even though she was always continuously telling him it was wrong to smoke. In fear of worse influences by other parties, April sent him to catholic school after he had finished pre-school. The class was very small and consisted of no more than 13 students per grade! Felix’s mother never really had a job but always found a way to manage. This always confused Felix but every time he questioned his mother about it, she would quickly change the subject.
Felix's parents had been divorced. Felix had always acted like it hadn't bothered him, but he knew that it what was tearing him apart deep within. His parents broke up because his mother had felt as though his father cared more about work than family and his father felt as though his mother was to clingy although in reality, he just as well had a touch factor from opposite directions, meaning that instead of being too clingy, he didn't ever want to make physical contact at all. He never even hugged his son. EVER! Instead, he would push Felix off, eventually making it so he never liked coming into contact with people either.
After Felix and his mom moved, he usually saw his father every other weekend but never really enjoyed it. Ever scene his father had remarried, he was not the same. Around his spouse, Sarah, he acted completely different. Felix enjoyed his old father not the new one: this one was angry and put Sarah before everyone, even poor Felix. His stepmother had frequently tried to force religion on Felix. Felix never really appreciated her attempts and as a result, was quite rebellious.
Felix loved computers, but his father had always looked down on his obsession with all things computers. His father felt as though computers were going to get him nowhere in life: his father grew up on a farm and never had the luxurious newest inventions, so he never saw any need for them. Jobwise, his father was in good standing; he was a used car sales man and was quite good at his job. The men in Felix's family always had a strange sense of assertiveness and was quite manipulative.
Mental illness, mainly depression and Bi-polar disorder, ran on both sides of his family. Felix never showed signs of any illnesses, except for throwing fits when he didn't get his way, which was probably just a maturity issue. In the end, he usually got his way. Other than that, Felix was very mature for his age.
When Felix was 9 he was witness to a gruesome car accident, one like no other. Young Felix was going on a car ride with his mother, to Corsicana, his hometown. They were going to Corsicana so that April, Felix's mother could work at a art action. They needed the money as they were short on cash. Suddenly, right in front of his eyes, he sees three vehicles collide: a truck, car, and motorcycle. Caught in the vortex, Felix and his mom get into the crash too. As a result, April gets a stroke and Felix loses some sight in his right eye. Moments later, guns shoot, could this be some kind of gang affair? From the loud noise, Felix loses most of his hearing in one of his ears.
After being rushed to the hospital, the doctors were able to reverse most of young Felix's damage. As for his mom, she was mostly okay, but she should take it more easy and not get so worked up as much, if she does, she could get more strokes, without the wreck needed!
Ch 2 A New Life; Forever Haunted by the Past
After moving to a more urban area, Felix finally got to go to public school. April went to go live with her mom, Kate, Felix's grandmother.
The first half a year, Felix was about the same as he had always been. Soon after, he met this girl named Ellen. She had the most golden red hair. After meeting, they spent all the time together. To Ellen, this was heaven; to Felix, something was not right.
Weeks pass and eventually, he decides that she is too clingy. After saying this to the girl, he immediately turns away in shame and despair as he was reliving the actions that were once his dad's. He then vowed to never speak to her ever again. Additionally, all his new friends didn't like her anyway because she did not do any drugs and seemed unfit to be with anyone with all of her strange rumors.
The confused girl then was in sorrow and became very ill turning to everything but drugs and cigarettes as confort. Felix, on the other hand, got into many kinds of drugs and smoked constantly. From that day on, he was continuously questing to find the most exotic drugs out there. Years pass, he is not the same, but yet, he is. The once innocent boy became a mere reflection of his family and friends. In the process, he talked to this one guy named Knight. This guy was crazy for the Ellen girl. He talked to Felix and asked if that was what he really desired. Without hesitation, Felix replied, "Yes, I no longer want to be called the rural genius nerd."
Although some would say he had ruined his life, he seemed happy. And as others saw it, he was much better off then the bums down the street. No, Felix had a good job, good drugs, and a great girlfriend. He could wish for nothing more....Or could he?
