The Fall : Lore 1
“In Parida there is no legend more fantastic than that of “The Great Wyrm”. Deman, the largest and most vicious dragon to exist in lore, appeared one day from the mountaintops. His fire rained from the heavens for what is speculated to be a century, burning lush forests to the ground and taking the lives of countless people. It is said that his fire burned both body and soul, leaving those that died too weak to pass beyond the Veil. The Pale Winds collected the ashes of the dead in the south, gathering the broken souls of our ancestors into the Wailing Sea to await salvation. It truly was a terrible century, if legends are to be believed. Though, in all the tales I've read, there are no answers as to why Deman came to our lands. All other tales of dragons paint them as wise and benevolent. This is most likely why he was given the designation "wyrm".

With all the destruction, it seemed inevitable that heroes would rise. Alice Narren, titled "The Seemstress”, was the greatest Equiknight of her time. Legend says she could pierce the eye of a needle with her lance. Then there was Gor Terran, “The Softstone". It's said he could crack rocks with his pinky and his thumb. But he also had a heart of gold. Finally, and most importantly, there was Vincente D'Voro, the greatest wizard of all time.

Together, the three of them confronted the Great Wyrm. It is said that Gor's rage could be heard echoing throughout the Vyrmin Mountains, each blow of his axe ringing against the wyrm's scales. Vincente is said to have suppressed the beasts immense magical power, giving his companions the opportunity to strike. Alice's lance, though, finally pierced the beast’s heart in a critical moment, slaying it and saving the day. This is, perhaps, why we call Deman a wyrm, as dragons are immortal. And he clearly was not.

I’m proud to say that I share blood, even minutely, with D'voro, often called the Father of Magic. His descendant, my ancestor, even lead the rebellion against Elym all those years ago. There's a lot of history running through these veins. Which is why I felt compelled to record this story in my own words.

Few outside the palaces have access to the knowledge I do, so it seemed important to transcribe the culmination of my thoughts on the subject. Perhaps one day people will look upon my writings with the same adoration I look upon Vincente’s. Perhaps I shall also be the one to save my people from destruction. With the centennial shower only months away, it feels like there’s a charge in the air. Great things are coming. I can smell it. . .”
