Jocelin's eyes shot open as she sat up quickly, tears streaming down her face as soon as she had awoken. She was in the Great Hall… It wasn't where she wanted to be. She wanted to be with Mexxia. She needed to find him. She needed to bring him back to them. Back home. "Mexxia!" she called out, before standing, curling over quite quickly after, and nearly falling to the floor. She looked up to who had caught her from falling, and then looked back to the floor. "Please… I must go! You do not understand I can not-" "Even walk…" Christopher replied, setting her on a bench, so she could lean against the table behind her. His eyes showed concern. He had a feeling he knew what had happened, however, it was always best to ask, right..? "I'm not sure if you want to talk about it but…" "Mexxia… He was taken from me… On zhe shore of Lorient, he did leave me zhere to die… I…" "Don't worry… We'll get him." "He iz under zhe control… Franziska, she…" Christopher's expression darkened. It wasn't a huge change, however it was enough to bring Etsuko over and place a hand on his shoulder. "I'll go." he muttered softly to Jocelin. It was all he could think to do for the poor French woman. She was a mess… that much was clear. He stood from the bench where he had been sitting at her side, and turned to face Etsuko. "Stay with her… Make sure she gets better. She'll need her strength if what I think is coming, does come." The small Asian looked to the male and shook her head slightly, as to tell him not to go. He could see the tears welling slowly in her eyes. He gave her a soft kiss to her forehead and turned. He put his weight onto that old cane of his, and took his first step. "I promise you, I will return, Etsuko." The woman reached out for him, but her hand simply went through the left-over wisps of magick left in the air as he apparated out of the school.
He didn't even know where he was going… But he had to start somewhere. He had managed to get to Lorient without much hassle. He had stopped to think once… He knew where Lorient was, it was simply a matter of remembering in his current mind set. He had been there at least once, to visit the twins with Etsuko, but picturing it in his mind to teleport there, and travelling there on the train were a bit different. Much harder, for the former, for sure. He stepped out from his apparition shortly after going into it near the shore. He remembered that Joce had mentioned it was on the shore… His eyes scanned the area quickly, noted a bit of black in the sand, and made his way over. He knelt down, placing a finger down and picking up the black substance, sniffing it. It was definitely venom. He wiped it off in some of the clean sand and stood again. He looked around a bit more, and noticed the trail of what appeared to be a large snake's trail, and foot steps in the sand… Following them carefully, he noted their end, and closed his eyes, focusing. Christopher's wand came out soon after as he chanted an odd little latin… something… And stepped forward into a fine mist created before him. The mist instantly turned around him and he was apparated out of the area.
He stepped out of the apparition just outside of a mansion… he looked up before closing his eyes once more. He was on the outskirts of London… He looked to the mansion again and started forward, the cane kept off the ground now as he kept his footsteps as light and silent as he could. Luckily, there were trees all around. He could get pretty good cover there; and he did so, when he heard a voice, coming from a little ways away. "Of courssss~" He knew that hiss anywhere… His eyes shifted around the area, trying to follow the sound of the voice. "I'll go ssssee…" That… didn't sound harmful; however, Chris knew that the person likely sending him out, was Franziska Riddle. And she had probably sensed his presence… He really hated her abilities some days… Truly. He reached up, and pulled himself into a tree which is when his eyes caught sight of Mexxia coming toward the tree line… just his luck~ His target would come to him…
Mex went through the area for a while, and Christopher had managed to follow him a ways into the woods through the branches. It went well for a while, until a smaller branch cracked beneath his weight. Those serpentine eyes instantly glared up at him. "Chrissstopher Danielsss…" he hissed out, ears twitching a little as more branches cracked. The former Gryffindor hopped down from the tree and stared at the half-basilisk. "Mexxia Diomedes. Pleasure." "What bringssss you here?" he asked, tilting his head slightly; "I could ask you the same question." "Thisss… isss where I belong. Where I feel I mussst be." "Don't you miss Jocelin..? I know for a fact she misses you." "Joccclin isss… Not my concccern right now…" "So what is, if it's not her? If not the one person in this cruel world who has accepted every last bit of you for who and what you are?" "My concccern isss you, Missster Danielsss…" He gave a sick smirk and leaned forward some to close some distance between them, his tail lowering him to the ground to be more Chris' height, and blinked once, slowly. Those slitter blue eyes locked on Chris' rust-coloured irises and the two just stayed there a moment, motionless.
"So… Jocelin doesn't matter to you then? You know she nearly died because of you, right..?" "I am aware." The calmness of Mexxia's voice when stating that… It sickened Christopher. He let that show through his eyes, however his expression as a whole remained completely calm. He stood straight up and just glared daggers at the older male. "Isss sssomething the matter, Missster Danielsss?" he asked, that smirk turning more twisted by the second. "No, no. Nothing save the ignorance that you hold. You are weak. Nothing more than a puppet. I once may have looked up to you in school… You were my professor at one point. You were one for me to learn from… But now I see you are nothing more than a pathetic low-life, who deserves much less than you have received these past years." his straight face turned to a bit of a smile of his own, and he shook his head slowly. "I can't see why someone as good as Jocelin could fall for such a horrible excuse for a sentient being. Are you truly sentient? I wonder now… As you let your strings be pulled by another. All your actions. Your thoughts. They aren't even your own… Are they?" "That'sss not true." "Then you have forsaken the ones you loved, and who loved you. The worst thing I could think of doing. You would be lucky if I don't strike you down, here and now, Diomedes." "Why don't you try..?" That smile changed to a small smirk, yet still very calm; "It would be my pleasure."
The two of them continued a moment, just staring each other down. It wasn't long after, however, when Mexxia decided to make the first move. Christopher, however, seemed to trick him rather easy. "You've lost your touch, Diomedes." he stated, smirking from a few metres away, the image of himself that Mexxia had struck at fading into a pale gold smoke. the serpent-man turned quickly toward the voice and let his tongue flicker. The emerald stud in it glimmering in the setting sun's light through the trees. A tree behind Christopher snapped then, the entire trunk just cracking until it began falling toward the younger of the two males. Quickly stepping to the side, he ran in quickly toward Mexxia, that green stud flashing every so often before he simply opened his mouth.
Flames came flying out toward Christopher, but with a quick click of his cane, the bottom portion was on the floor, his wand in his hand and he cast a protection spell on himself, which mostly stopped the fire. The heat was intense, but he simply kept forward at Mex, he brought back his arm with his wand in it, which caused Mexxia to expect a spell coming forward any moment, however what he got instead, was a swift punch to the face. He would've fallen over, if not for his tail keeping his balance with ease. However, him not stumbling in any sense, didn't stop Christopher's next move. He quickly went around behind the half-basilisk and grabbed onto one of his horns, wrapping an arm around the elder man's neck, pulling in tight. "You will feel the pain Jocelin has endured. I will not let her suffering go without punishment." His arm then, seemed to change… A ripple from beneath Chris' sleeve, and he grabbed onto Mex's horn with the hand on the arm around his neck. There was a snap then, and he pulled a little harder on that horn; not only keeping Mex's airways mostly closed, but the cracking… cracking. More cracking.
SNAP
Mexxia let out a terrifying yell as he turned quickly, once free from the grasp after the crack. He swiftly moved his tail, trapping Christopher's legs and tightening. "How would you like to lossse your abilitiesss to walk again~?" "Would it make a difference? I lived as a youth, I would as an adult." completely calm. No signs of pain on his face as that tail tightened. "But how about you…?" he asked, the horn that had broken off of Mex's head, he drove down quickly between his scales. It was a lucky shot, he'd admit… but with his tail coiled so tightly, it had shifted the scales enough that his target was fairly clear in comparison to normal. Another howl of pain as he tightened his tail a bit more. Chris took the horn, pulled it out and put it in a different area afterwards, continuing this as the grasp on his legs got tighter from the basilisk's hold. His face changed then, finally showing a bit of pain in his eyes and a few twitches of the corners of his lips. Wincing of his eyes occasionally. However he kept his cool for the most part. "Is that really the best you can do?" he asked calmly, keeping the pain from entering his voice as well. "Goodnesss no… I was trying not to kill you too quickly~" he said smoothly, then came in with his top half finally, fangs bared, a loud snake-like hiss escaping as he drew in closer at a rather alarming rate. Chris' hand rose, and this synthetic fingers changed shape. most stayed normal. However two formed together and a blade at the end of the joined limbs formed. Going straight through the basilisk-man's eye. Blood sprayed over Christopher's face and body. His rust-coloured eyes stayed locked on Mexxia's other eye then. A look so fierce and venomous that even a full-basilisk would quiver. "You are a fool." he pulled the blade out slowly, making sure to cause a bit more damage, by changing the blade as he pulled it back, to a heavily-serrated edge.
The silence was deafening as they stayed there a moment, and Mex soon let go of Christopher's legs, slowly withdrawing from his position. Blood pouring down his face. Through his hair, along his tail. He flexed his muscles a moment, and seemed to stretch in boredom before lunging once more. Christopher, however, held out his hand once more, blades forming around his wrist pointing downward. He curled his fingers into a fist and caught the former Professor Diomedes in the stomach with a bladed punch.
He was knocked to the side a moment after, however, before a clap sounded. "Very good, Mr. Daniels. But I can't allow you to dispose of my pet just yet." His eyes were met with bright green hues as he looked through the darkness that had come over the wooded area. He looked back toward the mansion, and noticed a messy-haired girl watching as well, looked back to Franziska, snarled a bit. He called the bottom of his cane to himself with an accio and let it automatically slide over the end of his wand before he apparated. The last sight he saw was a threatening smirk from Franziska Riddle… however, the last sight she would see of him… was the calm smirk that showed no fear. No pain. So… was she truly the frightening one..?
Moments later, he was on the floor of Hogwarts' Great Hall. "Christopher!!" was the first thing he heard. His rusty brown eyes looked up to see Etsuko running to his side. She knelt by him and looked him over. "Are you alright?! I was so worried I-" A finger rose and pressed against her lips before it fell. "I promised you… Didn't I?" She smiled and nodded as tears welled and started falling slowly. "You did." "Have I ever broken a promise before..?" "… No." "No need to worry then. Right?" "I guess not… Come on. Get up, I'll look over your wounds." He smiled and shook his head. "I know… I know for a fact I can't do that." "What… W-what do you mean?!" He pointed to his legs, and noted the odd angle at which one foot was pointing, the other leg, limp as death with an obvious fracture in the middle of his shin. Worry overtook Etsuko's expression once more and she started rambling on about how she could help, but he just reached up and took her in one hand, pulling her down so her head was on his chest... and laughed.
