Attire: Rarely caught wearing a uniform, Neon's attire had changed little from since his days as a street artist. His common attire consist of a slim pair of plain jeans and his signature black hoodie, worn over a flannel shirt, often stained with paint. When he was younger, he sported a denim vest with the words "13ad Luck" forming an elaborate mural on the back of it in the same glow-in-the-dark graffiti he's known for. On his feet he wears sneakers, scuffed and damaged from numerous acrobatics.
Physical: Neon is a young biracial twentysomething of Irish and Mexican descent, with deep brown skin and straight black hair. His hair's color and style is known to change drastically, but is regularly worn long and dyed electric blue, exposing little of his black roots. Following the experiments that would change him into the "perfect war machine", his naturally brown eyes have taken on a permanent blue glow in reaction to the overflowing Ghi present in his body. He has one tattoo, a graffitized "13" applied by his teacher as efficient means to transfer the power of Rakugaki, which glows every time the power comes in effect. He keeps in shape through practicing parkour, his body type mirroring that of an acrobat.
Background History: The man who would become known as Neon Graffiti was born Leon Villamuertos, the son of ex-pro wrestler Pablo Villamuertos, also known as "Pablo Kickasso." Leon's mother was a comparably ordinary woman named Katherine, from an estranged family he had never met. Leon grew up in Durem, and at a young age became involved in a life of crime. As a teenager, Leon became close friends with brothers Demarco and Stefano Maurizio, who would eventually become the foundation of his gang. Together, with equally troubled youth Akiko Sendo, they founded the "Bad Luck Gang", a relatively harmless group of misfits who dabbled in petty crimes such as minor shoplifting and street brawls with other juveniles. Neon, an artistic prodigy, expressed his passion for street art through special glow-in-the-dark paint, which earned him his moniker "Neon."
Neon's mother became equally close friends with Demarco and Stefano's mother, local mafia boss Liliana "Junior Mint" Maurizio, to the point that Neon began referring to her as "Aunt Lily." When Katherine, who had periodic bouts of illness, could not perform as a parent, Junior Mint would often take the role of a mother figure to Neon. This cemented his bond with with the Maurizio brothers.
In the following years, misfortune struck Neon's otherwise easy-baked life. His father disappeared suddenly, leaving behind a family-owned bar that would eventually be repossessed by the state. As Neon and his mother became more and more dependent on Junior Mint for financial support, the mafia boss was struggling to hold together her own family. As if things couldn't get any worse, Junior Mint was suddenly surrendered to the authorities, and rumor quickly spread that it was by her own family. Those loyal to Junior Mint entrusted her children to Katherine whilst they weeded out those responsible for her incarceration, however Demarco, her eldest, was too filled with hatred to sit and do nothing. In the end, it was only Stefano who was left in the care of Katherine.
Before he departed, Demarco made Neon promise only one thing; to never give up his younger brother to the authorities. It would be a simple task, had the following events not unfolded; as the months passed, Neon's mother Katherine's condition grew more and more severe. Then finally, in Neon's arms, she passed away. When the police entered Katherine's home, they found only the recently deceased mother. With the young Stefano now his only responsibility, Neon took the boy on the run, and planned to stay as such until Demarco returned.
A year had passed since their quest began, and the boys were running into some hard times. Having degenerated into street urchins, they had to resort to stealing and sleeping on the streets to survive. Neon's gang of vagabonds eventually drifted apart, going on to live normal lives or rising into the upper echelons of criminal life, leaving Neon and Stefano to fend by themselves. Finally, things had gotten so bad for Neon that he finally gave up and surrendered Stefano to the authorities, where he was adopted by Stefano's aunt and uncle, whom Neon would learn not but a week later were the very people who sold out his Aunt Lily. He learned this from Demarco himself, who had returned to find his brother in the legal hands of traitors.
Received by the Maurizio Family since he had no one else, Neon was heavily chastised for his disloyalty by Demarco, now a full-fledged "made man" and the eventual successor of Junior Mint herself. As punishment, Neon was to be banished from Durem, less he return with a death wish. Demarco's caretaker "Hound" was obligated to honor his decision, but in a way best deemed fit for a 14-year old; years ago, Neon's mother Katherine had told Neon of his mysterious family, the "Moerae Clan." Through underworldly connections, Hound was able to get in contact with them and have them flown out to procure their long-lost relative.
The Moerae Clan's home was on the island resort of Isle de Gambino, owned by the wealthy Gambino family. Untrusting of his new family, Neon had already devised a plan to escape; inspired by the local recruitment around the island, Neon joined the the Gambino Army, rivals of the Von Helson family, who hailed from his native Durem. He had tried out for the elite SLDR unit, but was unable to endure the genetic enhancement required. Instead, he was made a security officer, adopting the name "Neon Graffiti" so to stay hidden from his family. Throughout the years he forged close bonds with other "GMers", eventually coming to see them as family.
Abilities:
Physical: Unlike more seasoned fighters, Neon employs much of his fighting technique through the skills he learned as a street artist. His strengths lie largely in and around the concepts of Stealth and Parkour. 'Stealth' describes his ability to move as silently and subtly as possible, a skill mastered from pilfering art supplies and sneaking around police and the rival gang members. 'Parkour' describes his power over movement and wall scaling, honed through the sheer will and determination to tag Durem's highest vantage points, and escaping the authorities who caught him doing it.
This coupled with his father's professional wrestling tips have fashioned Neon into a skilled street fighter who, unlike most gang leaders, would often take part in the civil brawls roused by his crew.
Rakugaki: The bakeneko 13's most potent in his arsenal of sorcery, the power to bring art to life, was bestowed upon Neon to protect him against the detrimental effects of the Moerae curse. Already a skilled artist in his own right, Neon mastered it in no time, capable of conjuring whatever he needed to aid him in a fight. However, even an accomplished street artist such as Neon needs time; the larger and more detailed the painting, the longer it takes to summon it.
Luck: Through his Moerae Clan blood, Neon has the innate ability to sway the direction of probability in his favor. This power has yet to be fully realized, and has only reared itself in dire situations usually through very subtle, but often powerful demonstrations. Powers are split between "bad luck", where Neon curses an opponent, or "good luck", where he becomes supernaturally lucky, be it during combat or everyday life. As a chivalrous power bestowed to protect humanity, it directly contrasts with the dark, vengeful magic of Rakugaki, and can only activate when Neon has not used Rakugaki for long periods.
Personality: Neon has gained a reputation as a negotiator in his community due to his almost unwavering piety. Despite a rather depressing background, Neon is almost constantly openly outgoing, laid back, and charismatic. A boy scout at heart, he is always willing to lend a hand to those in need, often without second thoughts. Having grown up at the bottom of society, he understands the struggle of the lower class, and uses his position of power to help them. It is these traits that also mark his weaknesses, as he is often easily swayed by the trials of others. He will eagerly jump to fight for a cause even if it could hurt him in the end, but luckily for him, his overwhelming presence and general likability often garners the rest of his allies to follow suite. While eager to trust, he is tremendously loyal.
