This is actually the first time I'm really going to try to do anything like this! I'm not normally good at this sort of thing. :c I do it faithfully for like 3 days and then give up. I'm hoping this time that I can finally get around to doing it, especially since I love to talk but people don't always love to hear me talk. Here I can talk as much as I want, though, nyeheheh. My grammar here is a lot better than usual...hmm.
I guess this one will be an introduction to me? I'm Harleigh and at the time I'm writing this, I'm 15 years old. I just finished my freshman year of high school. My life is pretty much dominated by anime, manga, comics, and video games, outside of normal life obligations like school. I guess to someone who doesn't like those things, I'd probably seem pretty boring? I have plenty to say on those subjects, though!
I've been practicing drawing seriously since around the 5th grade. Since I was in kindergarten, though, I would draw my own comic books, starting with "Rescue the Superdog," and later on a pretty bad attempt at a newspaper type comic called Walnut World, which if I recall, was a name I stole from Fairly OddParents. ^_^" I've gotten a lot better now, though! In art, anyway. To be quite honest, my comic production rates back then vastly exceed the ones I have now, which is probably pretty sad, but those required both less technical skill and less time.
Ugh, this is turning into an autobiography, isn't it? Oh, well, I might as well run with it. I've loved video games since I was really young and I was FIERCELY loyal to Nintendo systems and franchises up until a few years ago, when I started to look more into the indie games market and explore titles made by other developers. I really want to work in the video games industry, either working on a developer team or in a place like Roosterteeth. I try to record myself, play, program, and draw as much as possible so that one of those things can actually happen.
Before I forget, if you'd like to see some of my crap, try going here! Or here. Or here. Really, there's no consistent place I upload everything I do. ~n~ I really need to work on that.
As for anime and manga, I watched Dragonball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon as a kid, but my first real series was Cardcaptor Sakura in the 3rd grade. I was actually going to Catholic school at the time (all the good that did for me, I'm a witch now) and my classmates and me spent hours deliberating over all of the blatant lesbian subtext trying to understand what it meant when we had no idea what a lesbian WAS.
I don't like to talk about my family much, and I would appreciate if you respected that. My close friends are all very important to me, though. I consider them more supportive than anyone in my family probably is! I'm not going to blab about them here, at least not now, but they're all wonderful people.
I'm going to be going into my sophomore year this September. I changed schools last year and I had a very difficult 9th grade. I'm from a low-income area, with a high school made up of thousands of students, and I transferred to a very tiny school in a pretty rich town, and the academic standards there are VERY high. It's weird going to a school with people so privileged, they often don't understand why you can't go out places and buy things all the time. They're all pretty nice, though! I would say I'm fairly popular. At the very least, I don't really have any enemies.
Oh, yeah! I don't know how I forgot to mention. My current obsession (and what is has been for a really long time) is a comic called Homestuck! I could go on about it for hours, so I'll just suffice to say I've been reading it since 2011 and it's by far what I write, roleplay, draw, and participate in the fandom for the most. I blog about it constantly on my tumblr, and I'll probably be mentioning it more in the future.
By the way, I love roleplaying, both tabletop and just text-based. If you ever want to do that, hit me up!
And lastly, don't forget that I'm always willing to talk. c:
