I tried using charcoal for my first time and so far I hate it. It's too messy in my opinion but then again I guess I have to get my hands dirty at some point. I also bought a new sketchbook (Yay!) because I finished my old one. It has a leather-like, black cover which I like. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has spiral binding. With the places I go and the way I treat my stuff, I know the springs are going to unravel. However, I need the spiral binding so I can scan my drawings into the computer.
Okay, I have two drawings to show you: The first is a hand done with charcoal. This was my first time using charcoal and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to work on this piece because it still looks to....basic. Yeah. There's hardly any real shading in my opinion so hopefully I'll get around to finishing it. Also, I have a feeling there is something wrong with the fingers. Then again, I drew my own left hand and the way my fingers were were kind of wierd. blaugh If you have any comments on my drawing, feel free to criticize.
eek Oh no! .....this is what I get for scanning a black and white image in color....I get those wierd rainbow lines.... stare .
I also have another drawing to show. It isn't finished but I want to put it up because I have no idea what I want to do with the guy's right arm (the one on your left). I also have not really started drawing the shirt and I still have put in wrinkles (memo to self: find references on where the wrinkles should go). However, I really like what I did with the face. The eyes are still stylized but I like the way the hair is and the glasses.....(scanner starts making funny noises) Noooooo! *sulks* Well, I guess I will have to show you the drawing next time when I figure out what is wrong with the scanner.
