Yesterday, we said good-bye to the class of 2006. -snifflesob- Graduation went really well, except for the first song the band played. That was just awful.
Anyways...yeah. Saturday. Here's how graduation went: The seniors came in to the sounds of the band and orchestra playing Pomp and Circumstance. There was lots of cheering and bullhorn blowing and bell jingling, etc. When everybody was in, we started playing the national anthem. Then the co-presidents of the class (Ronald and Lindsey) got up and said the welcome. They sat down and the principal got up, made his remarks to the graduates, and the department chairperson got up, made his remarks to the graduates. After that, Aly got up with her violin and played a solo with piano accompaniment. It was the Meditation from "Thais", and it was soooo pretty. <333 Then was the salutatorian recognition and the valedictory address.
And then Greg and Adrian got up to do a vocal duet on You Raise Me Up. I was so close to tears that I had to get up and go sit with Claire. It was amazing (Tori-chan, you should've been there!). You Raise Me Up now makes me want to cry whenever I listen to it.
After that, there was a guest speaker, the president of the Board of Education. Then was the presentation of diplomas and lots of cheering and screaming and bullhorn blowing and bell jingling, again. When Claire's brother George got called, she made me get up with her and yell 'chupacabras', which is apparently their joke. The last thing before the recessional song was this guy named Corey singing "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday", which was really good. Then everybody started heading out to congratulate the seniors.
After I finished packing up my flute, Nao and I went off to find people to hug. The first person I saw was Cordell. I gave him a hug and almost started crying again. I hugged a bunch of people. And Adrian gave me a hug when I congratulated him. <3 I'm keeping the program that I got at the graduation as a substitute for a yearbook, because my parents wouldn't let me get one. -sob-
After the graduation, I went home and changed out of my nice clothes, and then my dad took Timmy, Haley and I out to see the movie Cars and get some dinner at the mall. The movie ended up being a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Hell, it was great! Yeah, between dinner and the movie, my dad took us to the open space at the mall where kids always run around. I started out watching, then went and played with Haley. Then she wanted me to race with her, and then we played tag. At first it was just Haley and me, and then Timmy and two other kids joined, and eventually we had about eight kids playing. I had to give up when I had three little kids tagging me at once. ^^;;; It was fun.
Yeah, then we had dinner and came home. And I got caught up on all the stuff I had missed and posted on Iccia while finishing my spaghetti and breadstick. <333 Breadstick.
