I got my mice killed. My little girl-mice. I played with them before work yesterday and fed them peas and carrots, then put them back in their cage. I left one of the doors a little too loose, and they got out. My rats killed them.

I buried them today by the creek, along with a couple of toys they really loved to chew on.

The male mouse, Feldmann, who lives in a separate cage, is my last remaining mouse. Feldmann killed his roommate last year. Why do my rodents kill each other?

This was my fault. I was trying to give them a good life and keep them protected, in a world where everything wants to kill them.

But I failed in that. I'm sorry, pretty Marshmallows. Rest In Peace.
