So I’ve just given up on Japanese?
I’ve tried to learn Japanese for years now.
I just couldn’t take it anymore. The language is way too convoluted. I thought I would be able to help a newcomer to the language (on Duolingo…). However, my explanation on sentence structure was voted down by other users, and I got a lengthy explanation on how every single point I made was just flat out wrong.

So I don’t know as much as I thought I did.
It left me feeling embarrassed, somewhat. Honestly, that’s when I realized I hate all of it.
I have grown to hate the anime fan community. I’ve gotten sick of seeing their obnoxious profile pictures of anime characters making stupid face faults just because they think it looks funny.
I’m sick of the word “kawaii.”
I’m sick of seeing anime girls who have unnecessarily enormous boobs.
Just browsing the list of Japanese games in the Nintendo Switch eShop, I’ve seen at least three titles all about panties. (Ugh… After years of trying to keep an open mind about foreign cultures, I finally admit, Japanese culture seems very perverted.)

Japanese just doesn’t spark happiness anymore.
Anime isn’t new or exciting anymore. The Asian Invasion of the late ’90s and early ’00s ended a long time ago. All the good anime was localized to the West by then, and all the anime afterwards was just a mixed bag of mediocrity. Anime tropes have gotten stale by now. I just wonder why there are still some hardcore anime fans in the West. What do they see in anime in 2019? Is it really still any more fascinating than Western entertainment?
