iT iS sNoWiNg In TeXaS, gO bUy AlL tHe BrEaD aNd WaTeR
it has been below freezing for the last couple of days, and snowing. actual snow. not sleet. snow. it has not gotten above freezing the last couple of days. i have been checking on the chickens multiple times a day, making sure their heat lamps are on and that their water is not frozen. the first day it snowed (sunday) me and dad put a tarp over and around the coop to block as much as wind as possible. even though we insulated the coop during the fall, we want to make sure they stay as warm as possible. on sunday night i stayed the night at jess' apartment. around 3 am (i was still awake) the power went out. it was out for about 45 minutes then came back on. it only stayed on for another 45 minutes then went out again. i figured that the city was doing rolling blackouts. i eventually fell asleep, but when i woke up the power was still off. the house was pretty chilly, but it was fine if you bundled up. much better than the 8 degrees it was outside. jess' truck would not start. he had it plugged in (his truck is a diesel, in cold weather you plug in the truck to keep the engine warm so it can start) but since the power had been out for hours at this point, the truck had gotten too cold. my dad picked us up and took us to his house so we could get jess' car. the roads in town were not terrible, we just drove slow. we went to the airport so we could do some hood rat s**t, donuts and drifting in the snow. there were a few other cars out there, one guy was pulling a sled behind his vehicle, and one guy had a go kart. we left because we were getting low on gas. finding gas was a pain in the a**. a lot of gas stations in town had no power, and the ones that did had cars lined up blocking the entire parking lots. but we went to s oak e z mart and it was not bad. after that we went home and did not do much else. jess went to go help jacob with a water damage job in wford around 1 am. they did not get home until around 4 am. the temperature was only a couple degrees above freezing. the power was still out at jess' apartment so he stayed the night with me.
