Two topics today. We'll do the one I'm sorta pissed about first.
Let me just say that I don't know that I'm old enough to understand every aspect of American politics, but I get a good bit of it. Knowing it doesn't make me any happier though.
Now then: My dad took my little brother, my little sister, and me out to Coldstone this afternoon for ice cream. It was great. On the way home, we stopped at a gas station. First off: WHY THE HELL IS GAS OVER THREE BUCKS HERE?! We go to North Carolina, or even Virginia, and it's, what, $2.50? My little brother pointed out a gas station where gas was $3.14 or something. What the hell is up with that? Life's gonna suck when I'm old enough to get a job and drive. My whole paycheck is gonna go towards gas money unless I get one of those awesome cars that runs on ethanol. Ugh!
Moving on, the reason we stopped at the gas station was that my dad wanted to get a Sunday paper. We don't really get the paper any more at my house because of an article my dad saw a couple weeks ago that really pissed him off. So he went and got his paper and came back out, and my little brother asked what the article that had pissed him off had been about.
My dad explained to my little brother that these days, if something goes wrong, the common way out is to blame Bush. I don't know why this is, but my theory is that many American adults really just aren't that bright. But who am I to say so? Just a high schooler who can't vote yet. Anyway, the article had been about a lady who decided to get an abortion because the birth control or whatever pill she would have taken wasn't available to her. She blamed this on Bush.
Now, it's not like this doesn't happen every day. I've resigned myself to this fact. What I'm pissed about is that my nine-year-old brother learned what an abortion was today. There are times when I highly dislike my little brother, but I couldn't help being angry on his behalf that he's learned what an abortion is. HE'S NINE, YOU BASTARDS!! DO YOU HEAR ME, AMERICA? WHAT THE ******** IS WRONG WITH THIS SOCIETY?! Yes indeed, the United States of America, everybody. Where elementary school kids can learn about abortion and middle schoolers can find out what a condom looks like while they're sitting in the classroom.
Lately, America's been pissing me off. Just in case you couldn't tell. Sometimes I need to vent, and I feel guilty making my friends deal with my rantings. So now they get an option. Ain't life grand?
Second topic. This one's the happy one. =D
Nao, Cal, Cal's mom, my dad, my little brother, my little sister, and I went to see the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie today. That movie had such amazing special effects. O___O Homgeez, it was freaking insane. I wanna see it again!
The second movie was good in a different way than the first was. In the second movie, there wasn't so much...hmm...deception, maybe. Perhaps not as many plot twists. Instead, there was lots of comedy, crazy awesome special effects, and parts that made my jump about a foot in the air and then hyperventilate.
I read a review of Dead Man's Chest that criticized it as not having such a great plot, focusing too much on the script and not getting satisfactory results. I don't think it's true, but then again, maybe I didn't notice because I was just watching the movie for fun. The review also said the movie was rather on the long side, which is quite true. (It was almost three hours!) But in spite of the length and plot problems, it was worth the admittance fee
I liked the fact that a lot of the cast from the first movie reappeared in the second one, as well as a few new faces. For a start, the movie introduced Davey Jones, the villain of the movie, or one of them, who has a face like a squid. We also get to see what's become of Will's father, "Bootstrap" Bill Turner; he don't look so good. He's starting to turn into a fish-face too. Another of the new characters is a fortune teller woman (whose name I didn't catch). She's a bit crazy, and she's got a jar of eyeballs hanging from her ceiling. xD Awesome.
I'll wrap it up here, since I'm sick of typing. ^^;; Go check out Pirates of the Caribbean. Worth the money, trust me.
