We met at a winter ball, I in my white tuxedo and her in her down tinted ball gown, how she looked beautiful. Her name was Ruth, 16 years old and I 17, we were perfect for each other. She was sweet, kind, and lovely with her hair up in a bun, not perfect but still wonderful, and I handsome and strong.
We danced until the night faded. “I must go, now.” She exclaimed. She grabbed her dress ever so gracefully and left. I grew teary eyed, but then I saw her purse, I looked inside and I saw a blue wallet, I opened it and inside was her address. I almost giggled with joy, but instead I rushed out the door with hopes of seeing my newly found love.
When I got there I saw a white house, it was so beautiful that it almost took my breath away. I quickly and quietly walked up the steps, once I was at the last step, I saw a silver door. I fixed my collar and knocked gently. A man answered and he looked quite lonely. I quickly explained to him what had happened and handed him the purse that had led me to this place. He took the purse and looked up at me and began to cry. He then proceeded to explain to me that the purse belonged to his late daughter…Ruth. He then told me where I could go to see for myself. When I arrived at her tombstone it read: I didn’t mean to fall in love with you. Please forgive me. Love, Ruth
