Pink rose in tiny hand, Running through the streets of spring, Blossoms fall at my feet like snowflakes kissed with cherry, Laughing like only a child can, Laughing, and unknowing of the troubles of being grown. Freely skipping off to school, Finger-paint and dress-up land, Innocent kiss behind swingset land, Happy playful child land, Pink rose in tiny hand.
Red rose in black-nailed hand, driving through the streets of summer, Alcohol falls at my feet like yellow-tinted tears, Laughing between breaths of nicotine, Laughing, and enjoying the guilty troubles of being grown. Swerving, drunken off to the party, Late-night boyfriend visit land, Overdose and vomit land, Flunking school and ******** land, Red rose in black-nailed hand.
White rose in lacy hand, Walking down the aisel of autumn. Petals fall at my feet like the white gown that I wear only once, Laughing during romantic dancing, Laughing and accepting the troubles of being a wife, Tin-can trailing to a new home, "I love you" and "I do" land, "She has your eyes" and diaper land, "'Till Death" and forever land, White rose in lacy hand.
Black rose in frail hand, Hobbling to the graveyard of winter, Tears fall at my feet like crystal shards, glistening with sorrow, Laughing at how we've gotten so old, Laughing because it's too sad to cry, Cane in hand, limping to the grave, "There's nothing left" and sorrow land, So all-alone and silent land, Goodbye, love and never land, Black rose in my Quivering Frail Hand.
