Searching for a Thing
Human beings are capable of amazing things. We love, hate, cry and laugh. We show compassion to our fellow man....
Why is it that the internet makes us seem so immortal? We are like visible things that can never age... to communicate through written word.
And when someone we know dies, it's like something is wrong. You can't die on the internet, so why did you die?

We have absorbed ourselves into this mainstream of intelligence... of newfound communication, and though it is often frowned upon, it has enhanced our emotions tenfold. We become more volatile. More strict. More happy. More sad.

We cry when someone we haven't even met dies. Such has been the case with Donald on the popular social art scene deviantart, or in the case of Gaia, Icarus. Perhaps it is because their words are clearly visible; their impressions on human life, even after theirs has ended. We see what they wrote, or drew... and all of a sudden, they just stop. People are sad. They cry. They speak words of comfort to the deceased, even though it is clear that they will not respond. We take comfort in this. To know that at least a small peice of them is left to look at, and talk to.

It leaves me wondering... if an unpopular user like me died, would anyone come to my page, and tell me about what a good person I was? Would they sing my praises, however small they might be?
Sometimes, it's funny, because I imagine that they pretend to die so that they can leave the websites in peace, while their friends maintain the fact that they've died. It's a fairytale, I know.
It still gives me a small glimmer of happiness in their death, though.
