Let's see, the last time I wrote, I was still living in Florida I think. Well, I've been living in Louisiana for about three years now. That Christmas where I went to go visit my cousin? Well, I ended up moving there by New Year. So much has happened since...
Not long after moving to Louisiana, I was given a job. Not a great one but hey, it was a paycheck. I worked at a local Subway full time. I became the manager after about six months. Let me tell ya, that is a STRESSFUL job! During the time that I worked there, I also started attending church regularly. In early June of 2012 I stood up in front of everyone and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and my Savior. I got really involved in my church. And by the next summer, I had been given the chance of a lifetime. I traveled to Nicaragua on mission.
Now, when one goes on a mission trip, you expect to see God working for other people. What you don't expect is how much God works within your own heart. I saw people that had no more then sticks holding up plastic trash bags and tarps for their homes. And yet, they were more giving and loving than any other people I have met in my life. I left a huge chunk of my heart in that country. If you want to know more about my trip to Nicaragua, feel free to ask... I have LOTS of pictures to share!
Anyway, fast forward to November of 2013. I've been the store manager at Subway for about a year and my cousin's husband calls me one day. Keep in mind, I've been crazy stressed, working 50+ hours a week, and barely making ends meet for my apartment... still no car but I DID get my driver's license! Okay, so... he offers me a job at the place he is manager/co-owner of. I immediately accept! Better hours, better pay, better co-workers?! WHY WOULDN'T I JUMP AT THAT CHANCE?!
I'm still working at that job and still loving it.
May 2014: Time for another trip! However, this one is more personal. I went to New York City (along with cousin, her hubby, daughter, and daughter's friend) so that I could meet for the first time in my life, my half-sister. It was awesome! You don't realize how much genetics comes into play until you meet someone that had a totally different upbringing from you (and only shares one parent)... we are so much alike it's ridiculous. Even with her being about 20 years older than me!
I'm really skipping a lot here, but it's like 1am and I need to go to bed...
Gotta teach those three year old about Jesus! And sing in the choir!
Busy busy!
