Reflection

I toss in the familiar darkness, thinking of what you said to me. I don't believe what you told me, I know you like no one else does. Can't fall asleep with this harboring feeling in my chest. Twelve minutes past eleven, I am still awake pacing the room, sweating like crazy. I have a debate, "She'll stay, I know her, she loves me and will stay."

"Do you now? Then you should know she's serious about this." replied a person on the opposite side of the rooom with a soothing, yet, cold voice. "You should know that there is a possibility she will go, and you know it!" It's dark on his side of the room, I can't see his face but i knew he was smiling.

Yes i do, but her love for me is stronger than her wanting to go! I proposed to her! She and I are to be wed in a week!? I face the man and he faces me, "She will stay and that's that!"

"No it isnt! How are you so certain she'll won't leave you at the altar? How will you feel when you're powerless? Like everything you did for her didn't even matter? Meant nothing?! If she does go on with it, it means she never loved you!"

"Enough!" I dashed out the room leaving the man in the darkness. The next day I go to your house, It's 2:30 pm, you're laying on you bed, sprawled about, eyes open, unblinking, your warm touch gone cold, multiple needles lay by you. Ambulance arrive but it's to late, you left me, the man was right and I hated him for it. It's twelve past eleven again and i slam the door opened and march in the room yelling at the man "You knew all along didn't you?!" he didn't answer "Didn't you?!" I yelled louder, he still doesn't answer, I turn around and head for the door, I turn on the lights and see the man. All the walls in the room were mirrors, the man was me. "Why didn't you tell me?!"

"Why should I have told you something you already know?" he replied with a fiendish smile, I pulled out a gun and shot him, I could hear him laughing. I shot the other wall, he was still laughing, I shot the next wall then the last wall. All was silent, I looked around me and saw a large piece intact and not cracked. I walked to it, he was there, he would always be there, following me. I smiled, he smiled, I lifted the gun, he lifted the gun, I put it to my head, he put it to his head, I shot, he didn't. As I laid there dead the man walked out of the mirror and as he did he transformed: talons grew on his hands and feet, a tail grew out, horns protruding from his head and his fangs grew out. The man, my reflection, the devil, stood over my body and laughed.
