After the first discovery, Cailey spent the rest of the Route 1 walk examining every tree and bush to make sure she didn't miss any new treats. Before she knew it, she had reached the end of the path and was approaching the gates to a large city.

"Zahara City," Read Cailey, "Looks big; stay close you guys."

Entering the gate, Cailey was immediately exposed to the loud sounds of a bustling metropolis. Looking around, she easily spotted the familiar red roof of a pokecenter just a block away. The pokemon center was large, and moderately full. Cailey wasted no time, approached an available Nurse Joy and asked, "Good afternoon. I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of berry this is?"
"Oh my, you must not be from around here. That's a Pilapp Berry. They're sweet and are known to increase the effectiveness of one status move if held by a pokemon in battle."
"Oh wow! That's like nothing I've ever heard of before!" exclaimed Cailey, once again pulling out her journal.
"Hey so then you must be a traveler, tell me, where do you come from?"
"Oh that's a long story, but lets just say I've been everywhere but here at least once."
"Well that's certainly something. But I'll warn you that no place else is quite like the Honmori Region. What brings you all the way to these parts?" inquired the Nurse.
"I've been travelling the world looking for the best ingredients to make the most delicious food for pokemon to share with their partners. I've been studying the bond that pokemon and people form in places other than the battle field. I heard from Professor Kukui out in Alola that, while Honmori doesn't have pokemon unique to its lands, the food and culture is one of a kind!"
"Why thats a great goal, and your professor was sure right! In fact there are a lot of berries and delicacies you can find here in Honmori. I guess you must be heading toward Calla town then? I wouldn't pass up spending a little time here in Zahara though..." Kindly Nurse Joy began explaining the offerings of the City to Cailey: The Reigon's TV station and the correct frequency to tune her PokeGear to to get the news, The Poketech Company where she could go to update her PokeGear to work better using the Region's satellites, A trainer's school, and Primrose Park.

After mulling it over, Cailey decided to first visit the Poketech company to update her Gear. She wanted to message her friends back in other regions to let them know about her early progress. On the way, however, Cailey was instantly stopped by the sign left plainly on the street reading "Honmori Mochi: Fresh Made Daily" Mochi? Cailey, Followed by Gengar who was piggybacking Bulbasaur, entered the cafe where the atmosphere was both quaint and cozy.

"Welcome, please, sit anywhere," Called the shopkeeper. Cailey found that the box seat on the store front's window was open, and sat down with Gengar, putting bulbasaur on her lap.

Continuing on her way down route 1, Cailey noticed a a patch of grass looking highly worn down off the side of the path only a few paces down. Curious, Cailey ran ahead to be pleasantly surprised by the familiar sight of a berry tree! I knew it! I knew there just had to be berries somewhere here, what with all the pokemon out and about.

Examining the tree, Cailey noticed a few round shapes up near the top of the tree. Bulbasaur, could you give me a life? Wrapping its vines around Cailey's waist, Bulbasaur, though small, provided ample support as Cailey easily climbed the base of the tree to the nearest branch. Continuing her climb, Cailey finally found her prize.

They were a round, orange-pink, firm feeling berry with a soft brown stem and healthy looking leaves. In her immediate vicinity, Cailey was able to reach excitedly for 5 more berries. Alright, coming down! Called Cailey as she jumped down from the branch, her fall significantly slowed thanks to Bulbasaur. Look here guys, just like Kukui thought! There are different berries here in Honmori! I wounder what kind these are?

Excitedly, Cailey passed one to Gengar and Bulbasaur. They all excitedly took a bite, and...DELICIOUS! This berry, its so sweet, but not overpoweringly so, its crunchy, but juicy, and Oh wow look at that juice running down your face Gengar!

The three of them enjoyed their berries, and Gengar his two, leaving Cailey with 2 to plant in her berry pots. This is so exciting! remarked Cailey as she watered the pots, and then began jotting down notes in her journal.

Route 1 seemed both new and nostalgic at the same time. Walking along the path, she noticed a few rattata, some pidoves, and even a wurmple. So strange, pokemon that seemed to have been exclusive to certain regions coexist so nicely here, thought Cailey.

Lost in thought about her surroundings, Cailey was taken quite off guard when an angry bunneary let loose a pound attack for stepping on one of its feet. Immediately, vulpix ran behind the unphased lyncanroc, bulbasaur had extended its vines ready to fight, and starly had flapped its way from bulbasaur's back to Cailey's shoulder where it safely squaked at the attacker. Only Gengar was left un accounted for, probably left behind smelling the flowers. "Alright," propositioned Cailey noting that bunneary was not looking to back down, "Bulbasaur, I choose you!" The Bunneary recoiled, and then fled angrily. "I'm sorry!" called Cailey. "Oh well, I'll leave some oran berries here and hopefully it'll accept my apology." remarked Cailey placing the berries on rock in apology.

Vulpix was now pawing at Cailey side, "Oh? What's that Vulpix? You want to go back into your pokeball? Hmm, why don't we all sit for lunch first and then you can go. Starly too, you need your rest!" Cailey found a spot by the side of the road where she could set up her cook ware. She had with her a small propane camping stove, a small pot and pan, and a few cooking utensils. With this, she cooked up a nice lunch of tomato berry marinated tofu, Vulpix's favorite.

After lunch, Cailey allowed vulpix to return to her ball, returned starly to be put down for a nap, and returned Lyncanroc for his post lunch siesta. Cailey then packed her things, and with Gengar and Bulbasaur, set off further down the road.

Ahhh I can't sleep. >:C

Cailey was just leaving Azaelea Town when she received a call on her pokegear. Picking it up, she initiated the holocaster app to answer,
"Good evening!" Cailey chimed, already knowing who's face would soon load.
"Hey, morning. So d'you get in alright?" asked the Ecruteak City's Gym Leader, Morty.
"Yup~ I just left Professor Petunia's lab, I'm going to try to walk off the jet lag by forcing myself to at least get to the next town over today."
"O'ch, that's a tough one. And how's everybody else?"
"Have a look yourself!" Cailey exclaimed pointing the holocaster camera at her team.
"Ohh everyone looks happy and healthy indeed. Hey Gengar, you guys all tak'in care of eachother nicely?" Gengar, who'd been wandering off left and right quickly dipped into the shadows to quickly reapear and give Morty a dutiful salute. "Ahaha, good to hear buddy...Alrighty then, just checking in before a nap, then patrols for the legendary beasts. Holo me if you encounter anything outta this world"
"Heehee, of course, talk to you later~"

Cailey was always happy to receive calls from Morty, after all, He was the first friend she can confidently say she made on her own. Before Kanto, she had the regulars at the restaurant, but they were her customers, and Professor Sycamore was more of a mentor-teacher-crazy uncle, and Siebold was like her VERY strict older brother. Yes, after she left home-sweet-Kalos, The Kanto-Johto region was her first destination, and although Professor Oak was kind, Gary was more than nice, she felt like they were merely being so polite thanks to Professor Sycamore's introduction; it wasn't until later that she became close to the Oaks. It wasn't until she had made it all the way to Lavendar Town to pay respects to the pokemon that were burried there that she happened to bump into him.

She and bulbasaur had made a large batch of pokepuffs that they intended to leave around the graves that had no offerings, but after climbing all the way to the top of the tower and back down, she quickly noticed many of her gifts were already gone! When she finally reached the ground floor, she was instantly greeted by a swarm of ghost pokemon that nearly knocked her down had it not been for a quick hand to catch her. It was this day that she became friends with Morty, not even realizing he was a gym leader.

What Cailey admired most about him was how kind he interacted with the pokemon in the tower, which Cailey eventually found out were not all his. And she loved how genuinely he believed that if he kept getting stronger, he might one day meet the pokemon from the legend of his hometown. They consummated their friendship when Cailey finally made it to Johto and earned the Fog badge after a heated 1 v 1 battle of Bulbasaur vs Ghastly. He then entrusted her with a, at the time young, Ghastly who had turned out to be the sole culprit behind her missing offerings. Now a full grown Gengar, Morty and Cailey still keep in touch, updating each other on their progress toward their dreams.

"Heehee, I still can't believe a little tiny Ghastly like you were ate all those pokepuffs on his own!" teased Cailey to the increasing blush of the shadow pokemon. "Of course now 30 pokepuffs is barely a snack for you huh?"
