Hold on just a second tho. I think this is the only picture we have of all 5 Princes together and it just gives me all these feels because they’re like a family and I can’t deal. If we read the series without really giving them any consideration they just seem like a bunch of government dudes who can play god over the vampire race but nononono *rafiki voice* look closer:
♛ Paris Skyle: The Patriarch
Okay he’s the oldest old to ever old. He’s seen and done so much s**t he’s basically the unofficial Vampire King. Can you even imagine the amount of lives he’s touched and the stories this dude could tell you? He keeps the other princes (who probably seem like wee little babies to him) in line. and probably tucks them into their coffins for nap time. Don’t tell me those dudes don’t look up to this one-eared bamf. He’s the patient one of the trio we meet in the Vampire Mountain trilogy. He’s absolutely the fairest in all the ********’ land; he’s willing to hear Darren out in the strangest of circumstances and he even admits he would have given Kurda an honorable death had it been up to him. And not to mention at age 800, he still looks like he probably lifts. See how he’s standing in the middle of the group? In a real family he’d be the grandfather who has all the answers and makes sure his grand-kids have all the cookies they could ever want. He’d probably be really mysterious and wear eccentric clothes but he’d smell like pipe smoke and peppermints (if not moth balls) so that’d be nice. For for you, Paris. You go, Paris.
♛ Arrow: The Protector
He would be the eldest brother, chasing off schoolyard bullies and teaching his younger siblings how to play catch. But let’s get deep here for a second. He thought his life was over when he lost Sarah. He literally fought his way back from the edge of depression and would you look how ******** far he got?! This clan is the only family he’s got left and he’ll be damned if he lets the Vampaneze hurt this one too. Can you imagine how he felt clinging to Sarah’s dead body? I bet he never imagined he’d live to care about anything ever again. But if he had, he would’ve sworn to defend them like he wished he could have defended his beloved in the moment she needed him most. It’s hard to imagine him in a vulnerable state when we’re introduced to his (very tough) character in DSS but if we flash back to SLC we meet a simple man who wants nothing more from life than to be with Sarah. He even adopts children with her. His children are probably long dead or very very old during DSS. We don’t know if he kept track of them, but we know he loves them. How? Because he loved (loves) their mother. The Vampaneze killed her but they couldn’t kill the love he had in his heart. The love he now has for his clan. Look how he’s standing, he’s got his fellow princes. He’d throw himself in the line of fire to see them walk away safely. He seems cold. He’s not. He’s terrified of being devastated again. Bottom line, Arrow’s love for his clan is stronger than his hatred for the Vampaneze. That’s why he’s a prince.
♛ Vancha March: The Joker
Every family needs one. Vancha is the sassy little shithead kid who’d make you laugh at a funeral. The kid who grew into the apelike teenager who shows up hungover to Sunday brunch, pukes on somebody’s shoes, hits on the waitress, and smuggles the Bacon Bits home in a napkin. If you didn’t know the family personally, you might look at him and think “my god, what an embarrassment.” But his family knows he is the farthest thing from that. He’s got a much bigger part to play. He’s got a heart of gold and knows exactly who he is. Don’t be fooled by hid goofiness and good humor, he’ll fight to the death for his people. He’s saved his friends asses more times than they can count, he’s good under pressure, and he’ll have your back for life. He’s true as ******** to his heritage. And he loves his family unconditionally. He’s lurking slightly below the pack in this picture, right in the thick of things. He may be a little unconventional and sure he sticks out like a sore thumb in the annual Christmas portrait, but everyone knows it wouldn’t look right without him and his godforsaken green hair.
♛ Mika Ver Leth: the Achiever
Okay if you were looking at a family picture he’s the one you’d assume was going through an emo phase, am I right? To the average spectator (i.e. a person who doesn't read a ******** ton into the princes so basically everyone but me) he’s kind of the Snape of the group, a crabby ******** out to make everyone’s life difficult. No. Stop. Wrong. Granted; arrogant he may be. But tell me he hasn't earned it. Look at all the s**t he’s accomplished. Look how much he wanted this. Look how hard he pushed himself. HE TOOK ******** SINGING LESSONS FOR THE ******** HOWLING CONTEST TO EARN RESPECT AND GET NOTICED AND IF U DON’T THINK THAT’S THE TIGHTEST s**t THEN GET OUT OF MY FACE. NO ONE HAS THEIR s**t TOGETHER LIKE THIS DUDE. And this is the same dude who literally disagreed with Hitler’s army and still kept his guys safe. He stayed cool as ******** when Larten challenged him in effort to win Arra over. And when he eventually succeeded, Mika was a fantastic ******** sport about it (i mean he basically had the world by the balls at that point in his life, ain’t nobody got time for relationships). We don’t know his story or where he came from but we sure can see how loyal this little ******** is to the clan and who better to represent than this bad little king s**t?
♛ Darren Shan: The Baby
So basically he’s the little brother no one knew they wanted. At first he was a little nuisance who did nothing but make messes, but as he grew into the family it didn't take long for him to His older brothers are proud of him and they have good reason to be. His wisdom is beyond his years and he may not look like it but he can keep up with the bid kids. Sure he’s a wayward little soul but he doesn't have the youngest child syndrome. He doesn't expect to be babied, and he isn't. He still gets underestimated, and sometimes he still takes his older siblings by surprise with his imagination and youthful viewpoints. A little naive maybe, but the “Cub Prince” is a definite asset to the crew on throne. His age and status made it that much harder for him to get where he is, but even Mika admitted “perhaps more than any of us, he has earned it.” He’s got big shoes to fill, but his feet are growing every day. Watch out for this one. He’s going to live up to the family name like it’s never been done before.
