What can I say about Volt? We'll, she's complex. Kind of. When she first meets someone she pretty much claims them as her own, referring to them as her new minion. According to her she's going to take over the world someday, but any progress toward that goal whatsoever remains to be seen, probably because these 'minions' of hers actually turn out to be friends, not like she'd ever admit it. Her motives for being so outrageous lie somewhere between the literal and being too shy to admit her true feelings. But, who knows? Maybe someday someone will coax the secrets out of her.

Volt (or Voltari, her full name) is a princess from the Cloud Kingdom, a society floating in the sky. All airborne elementals live there and can travel between there and Gaia at will. As she was coming of age, rather than choosing a suitor to wed and ascend the throne, Volt opted to pay Gaia a visit and see if she couldn't make a better dictator than a royal. While she attests she is all fearsome and refers to others as minions, deep down Volt cherishes them as equals and proves herself in assorted victories to be more of a hero than any kind of dictator. It is a heavily guarded secret that Volt wishes to rule the world simply so that she can make it a better place for her friends, the people she admired from afar while living in the Cloud Kingdom. In the same token, she figures if she were to succeed, perhaps she would finally prove to the royal council that she's a leader fit enough to rule in her own fashion, able to choose her own betrothed.
An interesting fact about Volt is that since she is not human, she looks slightly different when she's in the Cloud Kingdom than her time spent in the world of Gaia. Aside from her clothes, Volt appears shinier in the sky and can levitate whenever she pleases. Even her hair seems to glow with highlights created by the angle of the sun and its light bouncing off the clouds. On Gaia however, her electricity becomes "grounded" and she takes on a darker, scorched look if you will. Like when you stick a fork in the toaster and it poofs the whole wall black. Also, since there is no water in the sky aside from condensation, one of Volt's struggles on Gaia is confronting large bodies of the element. She's not a strong swimmer by any means, and usually needs a lifeguard handy just to step foot in the stuff. Her body is made up by large quantities of electricity which gives her energy, but she won't shock anyone unless intended or provoked.
Being with her friends has opened her heart, allowing her to discover a magic of her own tied in with the feelings toward the people she cares about, unlocking a new abilities and a new power form.
