I'll have to check it out at some point. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff. What I meant is that the series both use a sort of a Victorian, posh aesthetic in the character designs. However, Umineko is a series that combines horror with what the author refers to as "anti-fantasy" and "anti-mystery" genres, whereas Black Butler appears to be a more of a crime drama-type comedy.

I'm not incrediblt familiar with Black Butler. From what I've read, it has a similar aesthetic, but the plot is very different.

It was originally a sound novel (kind of like a book in video game format), later adapted into an anime and then a visual novel (a sound novel with better pictures).

It looks reminiscent of Rosa Ushiromiya from Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Rosa is the BEST MOTHER EVER. heart She's awesome.
