The sounds of madness crash against your ears with no visible source. A chill runs down your spine as you wander around the pitch black cavern. It had to be a cavern. Why else would it smell of moist stone and dirt? This place wasn't very welcoming- how did you get here? Turning around, you see that whatever means you used to enter this dark place was now long gone. There was no escape. Faced with zero visibility and a nagging sense of paranoia, you run, stumbling several times before you come across something glowing in the distance. Your eyes are strained from being in the darkness so long, and you throw yourself into the source of light- and knock it over. It was a lone candle, attached to a tall ivory shaft which had broken in the fall. The light did not go out, however. It must be enchanted- or cursed. As you back away from your mistake, you bump into a robed figure. The candlelight shines on its azure robes and wide-brimmed pointy hat. Even in such horridly bright light, no facial features on the humanoid could be discerned, save two glowing yellow orbs for eyes. You call out to it, perhaps try to apologize for breaking its lamp. It doesn't seem to care much, silently looking down on you with those glowing balls of light. Then, a noise. Speech? It was more like garbled nonsense, but then you see the man(woman?) raise his(her?) hand and fix the ivory shaft. It then pats you on the head and shuffles away, long robes making a soft scraping sound of cloth against earth. You cling to it, and it turns around, visibly annoyed. It then shouts in some distorted voice and all your fears come to life in your mind, leaving you a shell-shocked husk. When you open your eyes, you're back where you were before entering that horrible place- the place called your mind's eye. Perhaps training to be a Black Mage isn't the safest thing to do. ... Do you continue?



The choice has been made. You are now a neophyte of elemental magics. Your first day seemed easy enough. You were to traverse through your mind and confront the creature that booted you out so unceremoniously the last time. The hard part was returning the favor. It was your own potential that had pushed you away. Only by forcing it out of your mind and into your body could you even begin to grasp the destructive forces of nature. Days went by, and time and time again you were kicked out of your own mind. You looked for an alternative- there had to be another choice. Looking through a tome, you read a passage involving the sacrifice of the flesh in exchange for one foolproof wish. You have the choice to do this ritual, or continue on your way. ... Do you do it?



There was no other choice. It had to be done. Your flesh came off in smooth strips, and the pain from this ordeal had shattered your mind. Your bones followed, leaving you a seemingly lifeless husk. But your robes stayed in place as if you still had a body. You weren't there- and yet you were. Looking into the mirror beside you, your eyes were glowing yellow orbs, and your face- if you could even call it that- was a featureless void that seemed to absorb all light save that inhuman shine from your eyes. Your magical prowess has also increased. It is time to deal with your true potential and force it to submit to your will. But then you realize that by cheating, it doesn't even matter. There will be tomes full of spells and rituals to bolster your variety of spells. The jerk inside your head can be dealt with at any time. First comes a magical joyride-- wait, who the hell is that? Red armor, dopey expression... bait. Well, at least you don't have to travel very far to locate someone to fry.
