I'm one of those ppl who didn't know XP but if my grandfather said I have the dialect I believe him. My grandpa was a medicine man and has helped a lot of ppl and was one of the well known; also, he practiced with me when I was learning the cherokee syllabary
there is a two yr program at NSU (northeastern state university) where they teach you the language and history of our ppl but I wouldn't trust their pronunciation of certain cherokee words like , wvdo, the way they say it bugs me to death.
yeah, when I was younger my dad, who is full blood, never spoke cherokee to me or my sister or else I would know how to actually spell it and was told by my grandpa before he passed away that I do have the dialect to speak the language and I do know how to pronounce the syllabary thanks to my aunts.
