Something that makes little sense
Looming dark corridors,
Shadows abound every silent creaking corner
A fear that strikes many in the dead of night
A noise here and a movement there
Disorientation, sweat beads on even the sturdiest of brows
No one is there, nothing meaning harm
An innocent chair with coat hanging over seems the worst kind of spectre
The dark is something none can master
Midnight a dreaded time
The full moon filled with both romance and terror
A black cat skitters by
Your heart speeds up, a glance in every direction
The slightest draft is the devil breathing down your neck
The feeling of being suffocated
Ridiculous they tell you
But you know what's there
You know what lies in wait every night, in every alcove
Prickled skin tight with dread, stomach churning about
Was that a moan or simply the wind hitting the tiles of the roof
Blood beating through strained ears is all that's heard
Its all so fake... only happens in the movies
A lie, all a horrible lie to cover up something so awfully true
Demons lie in wait for you, waiting to embrace you and have you
Silent whisperings of the wind or silent whispers of the damned
Tears p***k at the corners of your eyes, it's hopeless, the fear closes in
You can't breathe, can't move, you pray for a quick death
Nothingness is what you fear.
Darkness is the only thing awaiting your restless soul
