Erika Furudo is a piece added to the game board by Bernkastel in End of the Golden Witch. Modeled in Bernkastel's image as an alternate self, Erika also shares several similar traits with Rika Furude and Frederica Bernkastel from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Having coincidentally washed up on the shores of Rokkenjima after surviving a shipwreck, Erika is able to break through the limitations imposed on the first four games and serve as the island's 18th person. She serves as a detective, and participates in the game without any influence towards the murders' execution. Unlike Battler, who had taken an Anti-Fantasy stance against Beatrice's Fantasy scenarios, Erika tackles the game with a Mystery approach. She has excellent reasoning skills, which allows her to solve the riddle of the epitaph, albeit with Battler's assistance.
Erika is rather youthful in appearance, estimated to be around the age of a middle school student despite her claims of being a licensed detective, and considering how she is able to fit into one of Jessica's old dresses which she wears throughout the game. Despite her elegant exterior, however, she is rather insensitive and lacks compassion. One of the reasons she enjoys solving mysteries is not necessarily to bring their executors to justice, but to establish her own superiority to them and humiliate them in the worst ways possible. Whenever things don't go her way, however, Erika is prone to throwing incredibly emotional tantrums, and usually falls victim to ridicule from Bernkastel and Lambdadelta out of amusement.
Erika is currently the Witch of Truth, having gained the title in End of the Golden Witch after leading an investigation of the game's murders which leads to Natsuhi being pinned as the culprit and Beatrice being completely denied and killed. During debates of red and blue truth, Erika wields a blue scythe with which she presents her truths. Her achievement has also led to her briefly becoming the Game Master, though this title is quickly claimed by Battler, who completely overrules her theory and forces her to create a new one rivaling his, resulting in a stalemate. Desiring revenge, Erika seeks to expose the truth behind witches and kill Battler in the future.
