writing is something you do because you can't imagine not doing it, if you want it as a career. If you want to do it for pleasure though, you should just try writing some stuff and then blog it, invite comments. put a link to it here on Gaia or go on twitter or facebook or myspace and blog it, see what people think of it.
If you feel you want to improve, you could always take a creative writing course, or an english literature course or something to broaden your experience.
