I remember the first time I was interested in the piano. You would feel the world at your fingertips. You don’t care for lies or discrepancies; because all that you ever cared about at that moment...is a blessing. You’re praying. You don’t care for the surroundings, nor do you care for the rain pouring down and augmenting against the pane of the window… You don’t care for pain and you don’t care for the awkward silences when all you do is play your heart out. I didn’t have to glare at anyone, and I didn’t care for what happened to the boy afterwards. I just didn’t. I was just looking at the sheets of music in front of me. I didn’t care if Hazel thought he was perfect…because right then, I knew he wasn’t. It’s because music is harmless. It doesn’t abandon you— you’re born with the consequences of sin and evil; but when you jump back into those notes, your heart falls right back in. And the cycle starts all over again. See? You don’t need to jump back in time.
