Hi my name is Hoa Shin... well, that's one of my 3 given names (I don't have middle names and it's a very long story as to how I have 3 different names. This one is seldom used). I am also a fan of Miyazaki/Ghibli Studios Films and Mangas since late '80's. Favourite Anime Male Characters are Amon (Witch Hunter Robin),
Asbel (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind), Lord Yupa (Nausicaa of the Wind), Ghim (Record of Lodoss War), and Selm (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind Graphic Novel Series). My favourite female anime characters are Nausicaa (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind),
Kushana (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind), Deedlit (Record of Lodoss War) and Lina Inverse (The Slayers). Pets: Nanook the Pora Ice Bear. He was born from a block of Ice. Do not mistaken him for a polar bear.

Brief History:

Chione was born somewhere in the Arctic Circle. Ever since she was a little mermaid, she loved to play with her aquatic friends and watch the Aurora Borealis. By the time she reached adulthood, there was a climatic change in Antarctica. She was summoned by her mother, Gaia, to watch over Antarctica and protect the inhabitants who lived there. Currently, she used her aquatic powers, with the help of her Pora Ice pet Nanook, to cool the water temperature in order to slow down the effects of Global Warming. On the 21st day in January of 2008, Chione noticed the clutter in Antartica. She knew her big day at the arena and she had very little time to make a choice. So she decided to clean up the environment before swimming to the arena, not realizing that she took the clutter with her...

Something about Chione...

My avatar was created by accident. At first, I wanted to create a very simple mermaid avatar until I saw aquatic plush items and Pora Ice. Somehow, an idea had sprung to create this character to remind us how beautiful and precious life on this planet really is. I hope this character inspires an environmentalist or an ecologist in all of us.

Anyway, a little about Chione. In Greek mythology, there are 2 Chiones. The first (and possibly the most popular) Chione was a snow nymph and she was the daughter of Boreas the North Wind God and Oreithyia (whom Boreas abducted). She later became the wife of Poseidon.
The other Chione was the daughter of naiad (water nymph) Callirrhoe and Neilus.

I used those 2 references to name my arena avatar after them and combining both aquatic and wintry items to create a unique Chione.

Monday, January 21, 2008: Received a lot of feedbacks about Chione not doing her job as an evironmentalist. Cleaning up her act for next week's competition.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008: Still cleaning Chione v.2.

Thursday, January 24, 2008: Submitted Chione v.2

Friday, January 25, 2008 (mom's bday): Breakdown of this week's voting...

10 percent loved the originality
90 percent complained that Antartica is cluttered. Chione is doing her best to clean up the environment.

Monday, January 28, 2008: Chione v.2 entered the arena.

Sunday, February 3, 2008: Breakdown of this week's voting...

25 percent loved the avi.
25 percent said it's not original.
49 percent said to lose the bear.
1 percent got lost in the translation of the story.

Chione will not enter next week's arena due to Antartica's condition. Instead, another avi will take her place. Who will it be?

New things: I finished my novelization, lost 60+ pounds at this point, and have been working through my cat being very sick (He's a fighter like his papa-cat. cat_scream But he's had one thing after another, so it has been a long, hard road).
