I wanted something unique.I believe I have found it in this combination.The Water Elder was once a normal mortal human man.However,one day while strolling along the shores of Lake Ekal,he saw a mermaid laying badly hurt by the large rock he used to fish from everyday.He quickly forgot about the days fishing and carried her quickly back to his humble hut.It was weeks before she finally regained her health and strength back.Thanks to his constant care and vigilance,she was her old self again.During the time he had cared for her and tended her wounds,he had fallen deeply in love with her.Unfortunately she did not share his feelings.Though grateful for his care and pledging eternal friendship,she missed the lake.More importantly she missed her husband.
This new revelation saddened then enraged the man.In a fit of sudden rage he ran her through with his sword."It is true then what others has always said,"he yelled as she fell to the floor."Merfolk are to never be trusted" As suddenly as his rage came,it left.Fully realizing what he had done,he scooped up her body,sobbing.He silently carried her body back to the lake's shores and placed her into the water.
Suddenly Posiden rose from the waters depths and looked gravely at the man."Because you have killed one of my people,you will suffer the consequences.However I shall not kill you in return.For the pain of a broken heart is more painful than death"Posiden raised his hands and chanted a few words.The man instantly fell to the ground writhing in pain.His legs were fusing together,his skin grew charcoal grey and his hair became the flame of Hades.
"Because it was beauty that caused this,you shall no longer see as well,"Posiden proclaimed.The mans eyes shriveled and disappeared totally.He immediately,floundered around,blind and with a merfolk's lower half. Finally touching the water he noticed a new ability in himself.He developed sonar in place of his sight to help him navigate his environs.
Since that time many millennium ago,Pisces has been a guardian of all the worlds waters.He comes upon land every 100 years in the shape of his former self.He has befriended a baby black dragon recently who was trapped frozen in the Arctic for centuries.He also has a love interest with a lovely young maid that formally used to work for a wealthy but cruel man.So whenever you walk by the waters edge somewhere,make sure to tip your hat.He may just be watching you.
