Introduction

I rarely peruse this site because, I have come to the realization that I am a twenty one year old girl who spends most nights cleaning my house or spending time in the studios. However, I thought it would be appropriate to update my status despite being aware that no one will really care.

I am going for my Bachelor of Fine Arts and with a bit of luck and courage- my Masters. I attend classes with people of varying degrees of talents whom, for the better part, I have gotten to know quite intimately. I am very lucky to be in a school with so many wonderful people, both instructor and student wise. I am not anticipating the end of this year simply because, I will have to say good bye to many of my friends (as they leave to be scattered across Canada and maybe the world- whilst I am stay behind).

As far as direction goes, my art has changed drastically. I am a realist, and I am very interested in portraiture. Over the course of the summer I will be working on preparing for a body of work that will focus on self portraits in the nude based on symbolist Fernand Khnopff, photographer Cindy Sherman, and German-expressionist Katy Koltwitz. My method of painting is by using thin washes of oils and alkyd medium (as well as canola oil which inhibits the drying process- a lesson learned).

Maybe I will get a new account on some online picture disputing site or something once I buy a camera and I have a good solid series to upload. Otherwise, hopefully I can get into next year’s Second Year Show and Third Year Show, as well as apply for some other shows locally.
