I use the hard brushes, but my hands are really shaky so I tend to smudge them out a bit to make the shading look soft. I need to learn how to control that.... :/

But thank you very much for the compliment ^^ I appreciate that. Regarding the 3D image, I am currently in art college and taking 3D animation. I took that screen shot at school. The program that I am using is called MaYa 2009.

No problem. I'm actually a bit curious on how you do your hard shading like that. If you look at my pictures (I'd love to hear your feed back on my colouring) most of the shading is soft. So it'd be interesting to learn more ways of colouring.
