Yeah, if things go according to plan. I'll probably have to go through another couple of rounds of temporary visas (3yr then 5yr) and once I have a history of living and working in Japan then I can apply for permanent residency. When I eventually (hopefully) get that it will be a huge stress relief.

I have about 2yrs left on my current visa, but I would like to live here permanently.

Also this might sound like stupid, but one of my big reasons is that owning a barn owl is illegal in the US so I have to stay in Japan to be able to keep my Merlin. He is extremely important to me.

My beautiful baby! He's doing so well. I've started taking him on walks and he's so popular with the little kids that play in the tiny park next door.
