The Many Things I Think People Should Know About
I will put my poems, my thoughts, my dreams, and all the terrible things that I'm afraid of in this journal. It will tell you my life as briefly as possible....
The Price of Popularity
Ashley Roberts was just a regular popular. She was quite pretty, having long, curly blonde hair, sparkling saphirre blue eyes, and a flawless smile. She was friends with all the other populars, of course, but she was also was friends with the most unpopular girl in school, Rayna Patterson. Normally, if one of the populars slipped something rude or mean about Rayna into the conversation, she would just giggle and let them move on.She wouldn't normally risk her hard-earned popularity for Rayna. Today was different.

As Rayna walked by, Mike Nelson, the leader of the populars, spoke up to her, "Why do you even go to school anymore? No one wants you here!" Rayna shot a glance toward Ashley, waiting to see if, for once, her best friend would stand up for her. She did.

"As a matter of fact," Ashley started, standing up and raising her voice to move all the attention toward her, "I do. Rayna is my best friend! No one should talk about her like that! She is nicer, cooler, and downright better than all of you put together! I've put up with all this crap about populars thinking they're better than everyone else for way too long. They're NOT!" She sat back down, her hands shaking with the anger running through her veins.

"Well," Mike said, opening his fat mouth yet again, "If you want to stay with us, say goodbye to your little friend! If not, just leave."

Rayna mouthed 'You don't have to do this, you know. I'm not worth it,' but Ashley ignored the remark, standing up again.

"I'll try not to let the door on my way out, then. Come on, Rayna!" A few populars gasped. Ashley stomped out of the room, Rayna in tow, leaving her beloved popularity behind her with the rest of the populars, where it always should've been.

That day, Ashley learned that popularity wasn't nearly as valuable as true friendship. Over the few days, news spread about Ashley's sacrifice. Instead of following the populars, people started making friends with Ashley and Rayna. They stayed true to themselves, and ended up being more popular than the populars, because the lesser people realized.... why follow some stuck upo snobs who only care about themselves when they could look up to a REAL person, someone who would care for them, too... And so the popular became unpopular and Rayna and Ashley started a new breed of populars... NORMALS...
