Both boys sat in the back seat of the van, their hands chained together with one set of cuffs each and then another set combined the two together, it was indeed annoying to say the least. But what were they to do about it? Neither spoke and both looked out different windows, one with crystal blue eyes and the other with storm grey. They nearly looked as if they could be siblings in some weird way, both a little smaller than normal in both height and weight and both had strange colored haired for their appearance, but it was there that similarities ended for the most part. The boy on the left had his white hair down flat atop his head and work black clothes and nothing adorned his body.
The other boy though had ruffled blue tinted hair that stood up in a strange way as if he’d been mildly shocked with electricity and he wore simple white clothing that seemed in slightly better shape than his companion’s and he wore a small bracelet made of ruby colored beads that seemed almost hand crafted. But again both had a strange similarity that made the two guards transporting them uneasy. Neither spoke, their eyes seemed almost blank and unseeing as they watched the world go by and they both had that strange air about them that seemed dangerous.
But as the hours passed as they drove the guards started to feel slightly more at ease since even though they had been warned about the dangers of the pair neither had seemed at all inclined to prove themselves a threat. And so the ride passed on and on, country side and city streets until finally they pulled up a drive way that lead to a large white house. Grey eyes blinked first and looked to their destination, he could sense something in the air that leaked in through the car windows that this place would suit his companion probably better then himself. That was one thing that Era was capable of, sensing based on the way the wind moved the type of creature that was near him, and right now that included humans and their heavenly counterparts.
Fintan on the other hand had no such skill and didn’t even have such a notion about himself as far as his blood was concerned, his memories were clips of a life that had been burned like that of a book and only small fragments of that remained for him to reference in his mind. But still as they got closer his eyes finally caught sight of this new place and they also glanced to the other boy beside him and the chains about their wrists, he wondered just how this was going to work out, what type of master wanted them? And what about his chances of escaping this place? His heart thumped at the thought and the air around him shifted just enough for Era to stir slightly. This pair seemed to feed off each other and somewhere in the backs of their minds both knew that the other just may be of good use.
But both settled back into their skin as the van stopped and the driver stepped out and started toward the door, telling his companion who brandished one of those blasted electric devices to bring the boys along with him. Both shuffled out of the van awkwardly as commanded and followed slowly, their gates slowed by their connection to each other as the guard walked behind them and the other knocked on the large wooden doors to the house that would soon be their own in that strange way of enslavement. Neither were particularly excited about their prospects but Era was just glad to be outside in fresh air where the wind swirled about him daintily while Fintan was hopeful for a new chance of escape.

Fin was still watching the two newcomers closely, but when they spoke it made him a bit annoyed. We seem nice? He thought to himself sarcastically, what was nice about two boys glaring and ignoring their new masters? But as the other male addressed the boys Fin just kept cool eyes on him while Era tipped his head ever so slightly in his direction as if just noticing that the males had noted their presence. When told to tell the other their names neither was itching for it, names meant so very little in this life to both of them-though for different reasons-and so neither felt attached to the name given as long as they were slaves.
But one thing both were grateful for was the freeing of their cuffs. The guard removed then with a strange look to the boys-something of fear and anxiousness, most likely because he was now so close to them-before he backed up with the three sets of cuffs in his hand. Era’s eyes lit up very slightly as he raised his hands and looked to the colors that swirled about them-though to others these would be invisible-before dropping them back to his side as the beads clicked musically for a moment. Fin too was glad to have the things off, rubbing his wrist reflexively to try and rid himself of that disgusting feeling of chains.
Once they were free and were done reveling in free movement they idly followed the other male into the house-it would be a waste to try and run now with the guards there and the tazers at the ready if need be. Era shut his eyes for a moment as he listened to the gentle sound of movement from the wind that circulated naturally through the house, in this way he got a general idea of where there were rooms and stairways and exits. Fin though was looking around critically, any window or door could be a way to get out of here when a good time came, he had to remember as much as he could now while they were being introduced to the place. It was a moment or two before they again followed the blonde male, both forming maps in their minds of the layout of the house as best they could from what little they had gathered in the short time, this was the reason they’d each been sent back to the market, both had no intention of staying captive for longer than necessary, and since both knew a bit about the others past they wondered if this time they would have a chance.

Both boys heard the male’s warning and both twitched inwardly a bit at it. Now Fin would have no chance in a fight really, he was scrawny and had no powers for fighting-he hardly had any powers at all-and he didn’t like harming animals either. But still… To be told to stay just because they had been bought? It made his skin crawl irritably, he wanted to be free! Era on the other hand just glanced to the male for a moment, eyes strangely hollow and cool like clouds gathering for a winter storm, but he didn’t say anything and his expression didn’t change from its emotionless state, instead he just looked forward again and began walking, invisible swirls of color wrapping around his hands as they blended into reds and purples like an angry sky. Unlike Fin this boy had destructive abilities when he wished to but he normally didn’t use them since they set off a very strange pain in his chest when he did, like there was some great loss caused by his powers that he couldn’t remember.
But even with both in a sour mood neither spoke or tried anything as they walked along, they’d been imprisoned as long as they could remember so another few hours or days or months? It was nothing when you didn’t remember what freedom was really like. But when the other male grabbed their hands it shook both boys slightly, neither had felt simple contact in so long and it made them nervous. Era was the first to brush off the feeling, he just allowed the boy to hold his hand though he kept his own limp as they walked. Fin though truly wished to pull away, he’d felt so much pain at the hands of others that even gentle contact hurt him mentally and scared him even more. But he decided that seeming to be at ease would increase his chances of escape in the end and so he just walked along though his arm was very tense.
When they entered the kitchen and the male released their hands both breathed and inward sigh of relief, though they could both still feel the others warmth on them and it made both feel as though they had missed that feeling. But when the male spoke Fin looked to him and glared slightly, this person didn’t understand at all did he? Slaves didn’t care how they were treated, they just wanted to live their lives as they wished, where they wished and with whom they wished. At least that was how he felt and it made him want to scream every time someone like him spoke about it as if it was such a little matter.
Era though didn’t really feel that upset about it, he wanted to be free because that was what he was. “Free” was a part of his very being and this was not. It was a simple matter for the boy who knew little of this body he inhabited or the world outside of it, his thoughts were normally simple and one sided, why should he think more than that?
Neither boy shook the others hand as he introduced himself, and both just looked on as they wondered if they should bother giving their name. Finally Fin decided to speak, mouth opening when he was shocked as Era’s voice filtered into his ears. “Our names? What ones? I mean surely the both of us have been given more names then ever given to one of you status. Would you like the one given by the master who used me for entertainment? He called me “fool” quiet often. I’ve also been called a mute and monster, the list surely goes on. What does a name matter? Do you use the name that a dog’s mother gives it? Of course not. Are we much different than dogs to you? Our leashes and collars aren’t visible but they weigh more then you can imagine boy.” His voice was cold like ice and soft like winter air, but it was biting just the same. Though this was merely his voice and not his intention.
Fin just stared at the other for a moment, they’d been stuffed in a cage together for about a month now and he’d never heard the others voice and he almost wished he hadn’t. It chilled him to the core in a strange way, like he’d been left in the snow for too long. But Era seemed just as calm and collected as he always did, those cool eyes staring at the blonde boy before him, waiting for the response, wondering if he’d said something that could end in pain. Fin just stood silent still, he wasn’t sure that he wanted to speak, he felt strangely numb as his feelings were so displayed and accurate.

Both were watching closely after Era had spoke and neither was outwardly surprised as the young man walked past them when his brother came in the room and left them there. Era didn’t feel as though his answer had been rude in anyway, in fact he wasn’t really sure why the other had left so abruptly but then again he didn’t really feel like trying to figure it out either. Fin on the other had had a good idea why the young master had left so swiftly and he would have too if he could, the cold tone of the other was definitely something he would rather avoid, it reminded him of certain masters who he’d seen in the past, the really scary ones.
When the male remaining spoke to them Fin’s eyes landed on him in a look more like a glare-he didn’t like showing weakness-but Era just glanced to and then away from him. Fin wasn’t sure what to say but Era spoke coolly once more, his icy tone cutting. “I answered him didn’t I? Regardless, birth names mean little as well, the name given to this body at birth doesn’t exist anymore, only the one given at awakening. And that could disappear as well. It’s a fleeting thing. Names… They’re useless.” Once he’d finished he walked over to a window in the room and looked outside blankly, eyes clouded as he tried to remember the name given to this body before it had died. Nothing came though and he couldn’t really bring himself to care.
It was when the other spoke again that two sets of eyes landed on him quizzically, this was a lie right? But when he finished Fin blinked dimly, demons? Sure he could tell they weren’t human but… well that was more specific. He rubbed his arm anxiously, skin crawling a bit even though he had no real aversion to them consciously his body felt a bit chilled. Era on the other hand just looked back outside, he’d known from the beginning what they were and being a similar creature himself it didn’t affect him at all, but the thought of freedom, now that was tempting.
When the male left there was a long stillness in the two while the maid and chef spoke to them hesitantly but neither responded, instead their minds were drifting to other things that were more pertinent. Things like a tangible future. But finally Fin sighed and walked to the table where he sat heavily in a chair and lowered his head, his fingers pulling at his hair roughly as his mind ached. Where could he go? Where was he supposed to go? He didn’t remember the outside world at all! What would a city be like? What sort of landscape are they near? What about a job? Did he have somewhere he needed to go? It was too much to handle so suddenly, obviously he’d always wanted this but now that it was thrown at him? His heart throbbed as well as his head while he tried so hard to remember anything that would help him make a decision but finally he felt the darkness coming and just rested his forehead on the cold wood and ignored the people talking and his aching stomach, he needed to stop his mind but he couldn’t’.
Era though had very little to think about and so as the two servants spoke to him he merely opened the window with a gentle wave of his hand and crawled out, feet hitting ground soon after and once he was outside he reached his hands up to the sky and looked at the sun above him for some moments before looking away and waiting for the spots to fade before walking forward into the middle of a stretch of lawn. Once there he lifted a hand and looked to the colors swirly about and then he plopped down onto his rump where he crossed his legs and continued watching the colors unfold before him. Maybe it was simply due to the perceived freedom that he didn’t bother going farther-not that he really wanted to live in a city or anything over being a slave either-and so he sat quietly, he didn’t feel like thinking about what else to do, this was enough.
