Plot: In the vast & mythical of Grandia, there are those who travel the lands in search of finding adventure, amazing treasures, and making themselves legends in tales by dungeon diving. One certain woman, Alexius Bellamore, is a wanderer of the land who seems to be looking for something that isn't the typical plunderer's treasures. During one of her many misfortunes, Alexius frees a fellow captive from their cell and only requests her company in travels to return the favor. What exactly will these two women get their selves into while they journey across the many continents Grandia has to offer.

Name: Alexius Bellamore
Age:24
Birthday:September 15, 1724 R.B.
Homeland: Adestania (since she woke up in the forests of the country)
Zodiac: Virgo
Height:5'10
Personality:Outside of battle, Alexius is a calm and aloof woman tending not to speak unless spoken to. Those that have spoken to her believe her to be a bit out of it due to her belief that she feels unusual to the rest of the people in Grandia. She appears unassuming and somewhat lazy, showing absolutely no interest in the power struggles going on between the several factions of Grandia. Although she is always shown with a proper attitude, when she's in battle she shows a wilder side. She will join in on a fight if it is deemed an obstacle to her own goals. Those goals are forever finding out who exactly she is and why she was placed on Grandia. To do so, she is willing to side even with a complete stranger, for as long as she is certain that the person in question will give her the answers she seeks. Despite her own intentions, she is still a loyal person as she looks over those she deems friends with a silent but caring attitude.
Likes: Napping, individuality, independence, learning about her past, stargazing, spicy foods & fruits
Dislikes: Sweets, confinement, loud people, indecisiveness, liars, and those that do not keep their promises.
Background:There's not much to Alexius as she can hardly remember her past or who she was before awaking. She was found naked and victorious over a defeated terawolf before being brought back to a town outside of Adestania's capital by a trading caravan. Once there, she learned of the grander world that she lived in and of the many things called dungeons that held vast treasures and knowledges of the world, but were plagued with dangers that took many lives. Hoping whatever was the source of this knowledge could enlighten her with information as to whom she may be, she ventured to the capital to conquer a trial in it's dungeon.

Successful through the dungeon's challenges, the amnesiac was rewarded not with knowledge, but a sword only she could wield while other's were deemed unworthy of it's possession. The only other thing offered to her was a clear encryption in her head that she understood as "Onward." After the completion of the dungeon, Alexius found herself confused but positive that more dungeons would help answer her questions. Without a second thought and her sword in hand, she left the capital behind her to become a dungeon diver. Now the only thing leading her forward is to learn who she was in the past and why she could not remember any of it.

User ImageName: Cassiopeia Lacklet
Age: 20
Birthday: June 30
Homeland: Laviendal
Zodiac: Cancer
Height: 5' 5 1/2"
Personality: Cassiopeia is very fun-loving and good-natured, even in most seemingly hopeless situations. She's very optimistic, and loves to spread that spirit to those around her. She feels deep emotions in response to everything, and isn't very good at hiding whatever she's feeling, try as she may. Cassie is very much a people-pleaser, and hates for people to think negatively of her, so she's very sweet to most people she encounters, be it they don't do something to upset her first. Underneath her cheerful demeanor, she's very anxious. If someone seems upset, she'll try harder and harder to fix whatever the problem is until it's fixed, or one of them snaps. Despite being very strong-willed and stubborn, she's also easy to scare into doing almost anything, not that she'll be happy with it. Cassie is also a huge crybaby whenever things go wrong or something upsets her enough, and tends to cry when she's angry, too.
Likes: Cake, sweets, animals, meteor showers, honeysuckle, sleeping, swimming, caring for people, fruit juice, dresses
Dislikes: Loud noises or total silence, being yelled at, being told what to do for the most part, sour food, being dirty, feeling unhelpful, sickness
Background: Cassiopeia was born and raised in the secluded forest village of Tampurta, one of the only human towns for miles in the area, located deep in the northern wilderness of Laveindal. Her mother was a poor servant, and her father a wealthy and well-respected individual within Tampurta, and even a few of the far-off towns down south. As it's told around the village, her father unfortunately fell in lust with the poor servant woman, and the two conceived an illegitimate child: Cassiopeia. Cassiopeia was rejected at first by her father, and she and her mother were forced out of his home to try and hide the fact that she was his, even though by that time the rumor mill had spread the truth anyhow. Despite her meager upbringings in her mother's care, this was the happiest time of her life. She lived in a one-room cottage with her mother just outside the village, and subsequently spent a lot of her time in the woods around it. She learned to care for animals, and made a habit out of freeing them from traps and healing them. In conditions like these, though, sanitary standards aren't as high, and the risk of getting sick was a common obstacle for Cassie and her mother. She spent as much of her time ill as she did healthy, and hated it. She hated it even more when her mother got sick, though she enjoyed being the one to take care of her. Eventually, though, her mother was too weak to make well again, and died.

After that, the villagers sent her to live with her father, forcing him to accept her. She had no idea that the wealthiest man in Tampurta had been her father the whole time, but didn't dwell on it too much. Cassie was just delighted to not be on her own like she thought she'd be. The first few months, it was paradise. She was treated like a princess, with the servants giving her treats and her favorite things all the time, and for once, she could be clean whenever she'd wanted, and had more than the same ratty dress to wear every day. Then, after the village was putting less pressure on Cassie's father to take care of her, the special treatment came in less. He wasn't as nice to her, and the more he looked at her, the more he seemed to resent the fact that she was his daughter. Eventually, she had to avoid him, or he'd get aggressive and violent towards her. This went on for a few years until she had stolen enough money and food from him to run away on her own.

After leaving, she enjoyed the freedom of the open road. She spent the night under the canopy of Laviendal's trees or in fields under the stars, and although she was careful and sweet, Cassie still managed to get into loads of trouble. She learned to communicate to some degree with certain species of forest animals, and although the dirt bothered her relentlessly, she became better at finding sources of water to solve that problem. Eventually, she traveled far out of Laviendal's borders, and her habit of finding trouble only grew from there...

Origitune, one of the largest known cities in the country of Aldimore. The city is forever embracing the inhabitants who walk along the brick roads that begin at it's shoreline of the Ceruliac Ocean and end on any one of it's several hills that house numerous stone building atop them, the city pulses with liveliness and productivity from it's busy citizens. While streets flow with people, the towering aqueducts streams waters from up over the city occasionally showering those below it with water from the tallest hill down to the ocean in attempts to keep rain water from overflowing.

At the heart of those aqueducts lied The Goblet, a behemoth of a coliseum overlapping a lake which filled it's arena with water while gladiators fought atop the elevated ring. Losers were flushed out of the ring by the currents of the aqueducts and eventually spit out into the ocean to drown either because of the unmerciful waves or succumbing to their wounds. It was truly a terrifying exit for any poor soul deemed a failure in the ring. Many were prisoners brought in for crimes they committed that were now forced to fight for their freedom, while others were just soldiers captured as prisoners of wars immediately sent down the aqueducts as their death sentence. Truly a terrifying place for many, except for one woman.

Shackled by wrist and ankles, a woman with hair the color of amethyst trailed behind two guards who escorted her through the fighter pits of the Goblet. Her armor was scuffed up and her face covered with bits of dirt "Do you think those shackles really do anything against her?" the scrawnier of the two guards asked, "The troops that brought her here stated that she put up a fight against a dozen of our men for a good hour without breaking a sweat. What's worse is that we're actually letting her keep that monstrosity of a sword with her. We should try to send her down the ducts as soon as possible before she decides to act up." His comrade slapped him upside the helmet in annoyance of his whining. "Are you mad? Complaining about it won't get us anywhere. We should consider ourselves lucky that she isn't retaliating against us as well and instead gave up on her own will. Besides, I'm not going attack somebody who can pick up such a sword. Those troops claimed every single of them were unable to even raise it off the ground and yet here she is raising it like some sort of xephos. She could cleave us in half with haste, but instead just gave up with a yawn and gave into following orders on her own whim. She doesn't see us as a threat and I'm okay with that. You should be as well." He explained as they made their way over to a vacant cell.

It didn't take the guards any words of instruction to get the woman into the jail cell as she moved her own bare feet across the stone floor and within the barred area acting as her hold for now. The guards looked at each other stupefied before shutting the cell behind her. "Alright then, stay put for now prisoner. The fights will begin later in which you can try to earn your freedom inside this city, until then you are to remain here. Don't feel like we're treating you in luxury with the space of the room, you should have a cellmate pretty soon. These quarters fill up pretty fast with the number of failed attacks going on at the border lately." The stockier guard explained with a voice of command and intimidation which unfazed Alexius as she looked around the cell in curiosity. It wasn't soon before the two guards gave up and wondered back off to their station, leaving the woman to herself as she propped her sword against the wall and laid down on the ground to rest until the supposed company of her cellmate arrived.

Kicking and screaming, a petite woman with long blonde hair was being forcibly led into the coliseum known as The Goblet. "Where are you taking me!? I don't understand!" She managed to strike one of the men pushing her in the face, shackled though she was. It only made them more angry, however, and therefore, rougher. She knew she was making a scene, but as they began to lead her lower and lower into the coliseum, she thought she had a right to be belligerent.

She'd only been minding her business when she was taken as a prisoner of war for an army she wasn't even involved with. One minute, she had been sound asleep having the best dream of her life in the prettiest meadow she'd ever seen before, and then the next minute, she was being hoisted up on some brute's shoulders to be carted off to some wagon, and the meadow wasn't so pretty anymore. The woman could still vividly picture the bodies, the bloodstained grass, could still recall the screaming she'd heard as the battle waged on even as she was being carried off. She'd been pushed into the midst of a cartload of grimy soldiers, rode among them miserably, however nice most of them were, and now, she was here. All because no one would believe she hadn't been working as a medic or nurse for the losing army.

She shivered mentally at the thought that they could even think about putting a woman like her in the arena. She didn't know what about the idea frightened her more; being forced to hurt someone else to live, or not being able to hurt someone else, and being killed herself because of it. The fear now coursing through her sent her into another cantankerous fit. "How dare you? How could you?" She began kicking at the guards again. They simply rolled their eyes, one of them grabbing her by the ankles, and the other fitting his arms under hers so that she could simply be carried to wherever it was they were taking her. She shrieked, but sagged in their grip, feeling defeated.

They soon came to an area containing many barred rooms made of stone. An area that looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was built, Cassiopeia noted, and gagged. Surely, surely they wouldn't stick a girl like her down here. She didn't think she was the prettiest, but her looks had certainly helped her gain the trust or sympathy of people before. Maybe if she begged, they'd let her go?

They stopped in front of a cell, and as soon as the guards let her feet down to unlock the door, she turned to them, all but throwing herself on them, wailing. "Please, please don't leave me down here, don't make me fight. Don't kill me!" she cried, her tears genuine and streaming down her face. The guards had none of it, though, and as soon as the door was opened, she was shoved in backwards, landing with an "Oof!" on the cold hard floor. As the door slammed in front of her, she only cried harder and beat her wrist shackles on the bars repeatedly.

This was the closest to a good night's sleep that Alexius had received in the past few days. It had been about a week since she left Adestania and the roads were unforgiving as she encountered bandits or beasts ambushing her. The nights were worse as the darkness drew the foulest creatures out to prowl and hunt for food or even game. Of course they weren't too much of a problem for the woman, but one can only go so far without any sleep. Without any sleep, she was much more easy to rile up and resist those who approached her. Hence why she gave the soldiers of Origitune such a hard time when coming at her with spears, swords, and their obnoxious yelling. The only thing that brought her to a calm was the sound of a place to sleep even if that place was a jail cell. Any place that could offer her a sound nap without being disrupted was sanctuary to her.

About an hour had past as the wanderer slept in her cell until the sounds of wailing and screaming echoed down the hall following with disgruntled guards grunting roused her from her rest. It was quite the uproar, as fellow prisoners began to join with the cause and yelled for their freedom as well. To be quite frank, she didn't really care who or what it was acting like such an instigator. What she did know was that she wanted it to be silenced and carried off further away from her cell so she could close her eyes in peace once more. She rolled over to face against the stone wall she laid by, before catching ear of the begging and pleading going on right in front of her jail cell. She could only pray that this noisy person wasn't her cellmate before hearing the door creak open before hearing the thud of a person hitting the floor. Much to her misfortune, she now had to share a cell with a prisoner and a noisy one at that.

It appeared that Alexius had gone unnoticed for now and planned for it to stay like that as she closed her eyes as if nothing had changed. Sadly, things had taken a turn for the worse as the sounds of rattling chains, shackles clanging against steel bars, and the crying from before now rang right next to her in the same cell she resided in. Adding fuel to the fire, were the sounds of other captured fighters following along with outrage that her cellmate was mustering. This pandemonium was something she could not tolerate at the moment. She didn't get dragged into this place just to hear a bunch of dogs whine in fear of being put down. She came to sleep!

The woman rose from her sleeping pile of hay and made her way over to the source of the tantrum, which appeared to be a smaller woman whom reason for being in here should be questioned based on the attire she wore. There was no sense of hostility in her or even the armor to protect her from any delivered to her. Whether a fighter or not, Alexius was not having this one bit. She grabbed the woman by the chain connecting her shackled ankles together and spun her around so that they were face to face. "Enough!" She roared in a voice that silenced the rest from their pleas and hollers. It rumbled throughout the underground tunnels of the Goblet until it cleared them of any noise except for the sounds of rat's scurrying away from the booming voice. All was quiet again, even better than before, by the warrior as she stared back at the woman before her with baggy, tired eyes. "You're being too loud and I can't get any sleep because of it. Quiet down or I'll ask the guards if I can be the one to fight you in the ring." She threatened in a much more quiet voice before letting out a tired yawn.

Cassiopeia squeaked and crawled back to try and get away from the piercing yell of the woman in front of her. By starlight, she hadn't even seen the poor soul in the cell when she'd been tossed in. Here she was, making a fuss like this, when this woman had probably been here longer than she cared to think too hard about. Taking in her cellmate's armored attire and tough attitude, and the absolute monstrosity of a sword she saw laying not so far away, however, did nothing to calm her nerves. If anything, she was even more petrified, only now the possible threat was in her face and very, very, very loud. Yes, this woman had almost certainly been here longer than her.

Cassiopeia slapped her hands over her ears at the booming yell, though took them away hesitantly when the woman kept talking. When the woman with the dark-lilac hair stopped in her tirade to yawn, even Cassiopeia could see how tired she was. "I'm sorry!" she squealed loudly, too loudly, before remembering that quiet was what would keep her alive in the presence of this unknown woman for the longest at the moment. "I'm, I mean--I'm sorry." she whispered this time. "It's just, I'm really, really, really not supposed to be here." Cassiopeia's explanation was a barely audible whisper, one that broke down into a whine at the end, promising more tears. Tears that Cassiopeia hoped she would be able to quiet, because crying was certainly not making her situation any better at the moment.

She felt awful. She had been inconsiderate to other people's needs, namely this woman's need for sleep, goddesses could only guess how little sleep the woman had probably had, ending up in a horrid place like this, and she probably wasn't the only one Cassiopeia had awoken with her screaming and crying and banging around. There were probably loads of other prisoners wishing they could wring her neck right then for interrupting their sleep, and oh, how she'd let them at this moment. She was going to die anyhow, seeing as the guards weren't going to let her go, and by now she knew she'd have no courage to fight up in the ring. She'd get washed away like all the other losers, but probably not before suffering lacerations at some gladiator's sword, or a beating from some imprisoned warriors club, or any number of awful fates she didn't want to think about any more. Strangulation had to be better.

She crawled backwards, away from the exhausted woman, towards the farthest corner, where she set her arms upon her knees, and her head upon her arms. "Just. I'm sorry." She whispered one more time. Despite feeling hopelessly defeated and scared and sorry she began to look around the room for possible escape routes, even though she couldn't imagine there being any that this woman hadn't found first. Anything, really, to keep from looking into her tired and angry eyes again, and anything to keep her busy until she herself was called up to her demise.

The second Alexius let go of the woman's chain, she watched as the woman scrabbled away to one of the corners. Her defense wasn't any better than any of the other's here after claiming all that they have done was steal from the poor or murdered the innocent, but it was easier to believe coming from her pure appearance.that she was probably telling the truth. No way she would get away with murder with such a small frame nor did she look fast enough to evade those in pursuit of her, but Grandia was full of surprises from what the caravans had told her. "That's what they've all been saying since I got here. The guards aren't going to treat you differently based on appearances." The woman stated as she dragged her way over to her side of the cell and laid back down.

She tried to get comfortable by attempting to lay on her side and prop herself up with an elbow, but the shackles were bounding her movements. She looked annoyed at them before dawning them a nuisance, they needed to go for her to really enjoy the leisure of the cell. It didn't make much sense to her in the first place to be wearing these, since she gave in on her own. Maybe the guards felt secure knowing their prisoners were limited to motion in situations like a riot or breakout. She sat back up before reaching out in front of her with the chains pulled out to their limits. With a grunt, she quickly forced her arms outward, breaking the chain restricting her arms and giving her arms freedom to move about how they pleased. Her bruised wrists would've sighed in relief if they could as the blood fully circulated backed to them. Now she could lay down how she originally desired while her chin rested on the hand of the arm propping her up.

She wanted to lay like this so she could examine the huddled and apologetic woman in the corner of their cell. "I understand that you're sorry. It doesn't really matter now that I'm awake." She yawned before closing her eyes. At least she got a good hour of sleep in. It would make things easier later on when she decided she didn't want to be here any longer. If she could just get a wink of more sleep in that would make it that just more easier when the time came around. She couldn't stay here forever, there were things she needed to know and this country had a place that could possibly give her an answer. Just like this blonde haired woman before her, she did not belong here and she needed to know why she thought this way.

"What were you doing before you were brought here? It must have been something interfering with them somehow." She questioned the woman in curiosity, "I'm new here and I want to believe you, but how could I trust any word that you tell me? I don't care for the bad, but I know that if one was loose it could cause something much worse in the future. If you did win you're fight and were unshackled, what would you do with you're freedom miss?"

She could see a ways out into the corridor, a bit down the hall, and even into some of the other cells containing prisoners that she'd overlooked before, but in the whole place Cassiopeia couldn't find a single window. Surely that was some kind of health hazard, how could these people stand not getting any fresh air? She sniffed, and then quickly recoiled, promising herself to block out the smell of the place as much as she could from then on. It was definitely a health hazard.

At the sound of her cellmate's voice, she chanced a glance back at her. She didn't look as angry anymore, just tired. She knew the guards wouldn't treat her any different-even if she'd hoped otherwise. She'd probably try again later, anyway, if only to give in to that bit of defiance that hadn't been drowned out by now, and to give herself something to do.

Cassiopeia had just shifted her eyes back away from where the other woman had dragged herself over and laid down, when her head snapped back at the sound of creaking metal just in time to see the woman break apart her shackles. Cassiopeia's mouth went dry, and she had to swallow. How could she have let herself get into this sort of mess? This woman could probably break every bone in her body with one finger and a handful of seconds to get the job done. She averted her eyes politely but there was no hiding the full-body shiver that went through her or the widening of her eyes. She gazed at her own too-tight shackles and laid her hands down on the ground in front of her to relieve some of the chain's weight.

She realized the other woman was watching her at this point, but she couldn't really be bothered to feel scandalized at all. If she wasn't so afraid of somehow offending her cellmate, she'd be staring just as intensely. Upon being addressed, though, she did force enough courage to at least turn in the other woman's general direction.

"I was just sleeping." She still hadn't been able to bring her voice up from a whisper's volume, but was a start. "I went to bed in a meadow, and when I awoke, it was to a soldier of some sort carrying me off of the battlefield like a trophy, and there was fighting all around." She paused to gather her hair up from where it was beginning to fall into her face, and pushed it back. "He dumped me into a cartload of other soldiers, soldiers I'm assuming were not on the same side as him, bless them. I tried to run as soon as they opened the cart back up, but, well." She lifted up her shackles some before lowering them again. "I only want to continue living my life. I'd leave this city and this horrible source of entertainment along with it, that's for sure. It's madness, madness and carnage, is what it is." She could feel her eyes watering up, and quickly turned outward away from her cellmate to avoid angering her again. This was why she hated war and death; she always felt too much empathy for the wounded and deceased, always wanting to help them and being powerless to do anything about it, always unable to stop herself from getting emotional about it. She wiped her eyes and sniffled as discreetly as she could. "I don't know, really. I just want to go back to the woods right now."

The wanderer remained attentive to her cellmate's answers while resting her eyes. It didn't sound as if the woman was bad at all, but just possessed bad luck to get herself locked up in here as well. It was quite humorous to Alexius for both of them to be in here because of sleep, so much that it had actually made her chuckle lightly at the girl. "What a coincidence that we got the same cell together then. . .", she said as a small smile appeared across her face in the dusky cell.

She could understand waking up to nothing but fighting in this world, it was the first thing she was forced to do when she came to back at Adestania. Fighting wasn't something she was proud of, but it was something her past self must have been good at the way she was blessed with such strength and an understanding on how to wield a weapon. This girl wasn't born with the same skills and talents that Alexius had for survival as she listened to the rattling chains of her struggling counterpart. "She wouldn't last a minute out there in that ring." She thought as she scratched her head and peered at the woman with one eye open. She was too fragile and even if she managed to win her match, the guilt of killing somebody would probably weigh down on her until it killed her. Fighting wasn't her calling, but that wasn't the traveler's problem. Still even knowing that and then hearing the blonde woman's answer to what she would do if freed, there was something burning in her chest to make sure she wasn't slaughtered out there in that white dress of her's. Lilliums were gorgeous plants that were better left off unharmed than plucked for the satisfaction of other's own personal satisfaction. Maybe there was a way that she could assure the woman got out of here safely but what?

"You are noisome when you sit there and cry, but I can definitely tell you are innocent and full of good intent. You are not a bad person. . .I have faith in you that you are telling the truth." She said before adjusting so that she lied on her back with her hands behind her head. "Wake me up when the guards comes down for volunteer fighters for the first match. Other than that, please stop crying. You'll be out of here soon." She yawned before dozing back off to sleep.

The way her cellmate could intimidate her, even from the other side of the cell and lying down at that, truly amazed Cassiopeia. The more she thought about it, the more it didn't make sense. What was a woman who could break her chains as if she was ripping parchment still doing here? Nevertheless, she didn't dare ask.

The somber turn her mood had taken had left her feeling drained, anyway. She wanted to do exactly as her cellmate was doing and sleep, but she wasn't sure she wanted to. If anything were to happen, she wanted to be awake for it. As she leaned against the cool bars, though, it didn't sound like the worst idea.

When the woman suggested not too subtly that she stop crying, she really did try, but only managed to tone it down, rather than cut it out completely, although coming from her cellmate, the suggestion did make her relax a little. She didn't understand the woman's statement that she'd be out of here soon, since she already knew that-whether it be through the gutters of the arena or some other way. Even so, at her cellmate's peculiar request, she merely nodded. She couldn't imagine wanting to volunteer for anything like that, but if it pleased this woman, she'd make sure to wake her whenever the guards returned. With that thought, and one final glance at the woman across from her, she too lay down on the cold, dirty, stone floor. She angled herself so that she could see her cellmate, but also hear clearly if the sound of footsteps began to echo down the corridor.

It was some time later when she finally did hear footsteps. She took a minute to stretch, reaching out as if she were a cat, before remembering her duty. She quietly crawled over to the sleeping woman a few feet away, and leaned over her. She wondered briefly how she should go about waking the woman, before deciding to just go with it. She shook the violet-haired woman lightly by the shoulder. "Um, miss? Madam? The guards." She shook her again, harder this time. "The guards are here. They'll probably start calling for people soon."

Ever since the first day of her awakening, Alexius always had reoccurring dreams in her sleep. Always the same they were, visions of millions of soldiers fighting while smoke filled the air and ruining the twilight sky as if they had been fighting the whole day. It was never her fighting, but as if she was viewing the fights from another persons view. In the middle of this barbarous conflict, she was unharmed and merely watching dozens of men slice and pummel each other to death while she strolled by. It was gruesome and cruel, but it was nothing that scared or surprised her like it was a daily stroll through the forest. Why was she able to stroll through this scene unscathed and practically invisible as her path was cleared of soldiers. Whoever she viewed this bloodbath from had reached a dead-end as they halted atop a cliff. Below them were just a sea of clouds as far as the eye could see and the sun setting to end the day. Without a warning, they were propelled off the cliff and fell to the sea of clouds. As they descended, she turned in mid-air to see what force had pushed them from their perch only to find a bearded fellow much larger than them in white robes looking down on them before they sink beneath the clouds. Before she knew it, there were the clouds forever furthering themselves from their grasp until the next thing she could see were pine trees and then after that the dream was over abruptly.

With the feeling of being rocked back and forth, she was once again roused from her slumber only to find what she remembered to be her cellmate over top of her warning her of guards. "Guards?" She wondered before vaguely remembering her request before going back to sleep. She slowly sat up and looked at the girl before hearing the footsteps coming from outside of their cage as well as the faintest sounds of cheers coming from up above. It was time.

"Listen up, you rotten bags of meat! a large framed man yelled as he walked down the rows of cells, "Today's matches are about to begin! We usually take volunteers first who would rather get out of here as soon as possible by any means necessary. Victory. . .or defeat! Who here would like to go first!?" From what Alexius had heard from other prisoners, Captain Julio was in quite the energetic mood today for some reason. Some heard that he was on the brinks of promotion after capturing so many prisoners for the Goblet's entertainment purposes. He looked about at the caged prisoners as every one of the prisoners were silent. Nobody really wanted to go first, not even the criminals who murdered. The Goblet offered no weapons or any notices as to what would be thrown at them while in the ring. Everything that happened inside there was random every day maybe beasts would be thrown in there as well or maybe they would fight unarmed. It was a risky bet to just go in there unprepared. "What is this? Nobody wants to go test their might and win their freedom. Quit being a bunch of cowards! Somebody volunteer before I start-" The captain abruptly stopped his berating as he saw a single hand raised from behind the bars. He quietly strode over to see who was the daring man who was ready to fight only to find that it was none other than Alexius.

"I'll go." She nonchalantly announced as the man came into view. The man looked amazed before giving a chuckle and then busted out in laughter. It looked as if he was ready to cry as he leaned over at the sight. "How amazing that of all the soldiers and sick bastards in here. It ends up to be a woman to insist on going first over you pathetic chaps. You sicken your homelands to be walked over by a woman!" He called out to the other prisoners while Alexius grabbed her sword and threw it over shoulder. "Very well Miss. The city of Origitune thanks you for your tribute. Now who would like to be her opponent!?" He called out before she rose her hand again. "I volunteer my cellmate to be my opponent. She was rather loud earlier when she came in and disturbed my sleep. I'd like to take out my stress on her." She stated as she pointed over at Cassiopeia. This brought the man to laugh even more at what was going on before him. "Oh-ho! Payback and brutality in one serving as well. I like your attitude. It'll be a great way to get the crowd excited to see her get chopped down by that sword of your's! Very well then! Take those two to the ring!" He ordered as four guards came over to their cell to take the ladies up to the surface. Alexius came out of the cell out of the cell on her own will while two of the guards went for Cassiopeia.

"You two ladies have fun up there! I'll be watching from the stands! Make it a good one since the emperor of Aldimore is here." Julio informed the wandering woman before taking his leave. Alexius simply waited for her cellmate to come along for her plan to work. "Oh yeah, I should have said something first about what I had in mind." She thought as she rubbed her chin.

While her cellmate got up and made her way over to the bars of the cell, Cassiopeia took a seat in the corner. She watched as the woman volunteered, stupidly, in Cassiopeia's opinion, to go up to the arena and fight of her own volition. After the guard that had been campaigning for volunteers started calling all of the other prisoners cowards, though, she started to tune him out. These men weren't cowards; they just didn't want to die. She didn't want to die either. She sighed, but the sigh turned into a choking cough as she heard her cellmate's words.

Her eyes widened, her head snapped up to where her cellmate stood, disbelieving.

It couldn't be. Sure, the woman hadn't seemed like the nicest person on the planet, but surely they'd made up on good enough terms after her noise making earlier? She didn't want to kill her; it just didn't make sense, no matter which way Cassiopeia turned it around in her head. Still, the guards began making their way towards her, and she felt her heart sink. She felt the cold tendrils of fear embrace her and she couldn't breathe-Can't breathe, can't breathe!!, she thought, panicked. To make up for her lack of breathe, she tried breathing deeper and faster, but it only resulted in her hyperventilating. She may have thought she'd somewhat accepted her fate, earlier, but not at the hands of this woman. Not by that monster of a blade, oh starlight. She wasn't ready to die yet, she thought she'd have just a little more time-maybe just an hour, but more time!

Cassiopeia vaulted herself off of the floor and towards the door of the cell, but it was no use. She was caught almost immediately by the guards, who, learning their lesson from earlier, cut straight to just carrying her, knowing she wouldn't go herself. Shackled as she was, she couldn't resist much, but thrashed and thrashed and cried. "No, I'm not ready!" She shrieked at the top of her lungs, her tears streaming down her face in full force. "Cruel, heartless pigs! Let go of me!" Alas, they did not, and simply continued carrying her off after her cellmate towards the arena.

Please, just let it be quick and mostly painless, she thought.

Alexius immediately regretted not saying anything to the woman before just going ahead with her plan. Then again, maybe if she didn't know about it then everything would be a bit more convincing for all that witnessed the match. It definitely was more gutsy than trying to just slice down the bars of their cell down and fighting off countless soldiers. That plan was easy, but it was less fun that way and violent at that. Her cellmate talked of fighting in a negative way, she didn't want her to witness more carnage if there was another way to get her to safety without harm. "Then again. . ." she wondered as she looked back at the thrashing about that woman put up while in the guards' arms. She was rather loud once again, but in the circumstances they were in, she understood why. "Let's just try to get her out of here."

They journeyed down to the only opening that emitted any light down the tunnels. The closer and closer they got to the exit, the louder it seemed the cheering became above them. "First match! First match!! First match!!!" The voices chanted as they made steps up and above ground level. She was the first behind the guards to come out from the tunnel and be bathed with blinding sunlight that had her shielding her eyes. It smelled like a mixture of fresh spring time air and water that greeted her nose next. The last change in her senses was the booming increase of volume from the crowd as they let out cheers to the first fight of the day at the Goblet. What an overwhelming atmosphere watching over them, all looking to see people hurt and kill one another. It was dreadful like her cellmate had said.

The two were escorted over the bridge leading to the island arena. There was a decent amount of water between the isle and walls protecting the crowd. She looked down into the water only to see nothing, not even the bottom, under the water. It was abysmal and a little unsettling as if anything was ready to jump out of the water and attack them if they got to close to the edge. The mysterious unknown hidden in the darkness must have been terrifying right next to the three floodgates blocking off the aqueducts at the moment until somebody fell into the water. The Divines knew there was no way to get a grip to climb back up from the 15 foot fall in time before the gates were released and drained the losers away. Losing was unforgiving here in Origitune, that was for sure.

Alexius and the guards carrying her opponent finally reached the middle of the ring before releasing the blonde to the ground before dashing back to the bridge before it was drawn up.

With Alexius standing before her shackled acquaintance, she lifted her sword one-handed up over her head like an axe and sliced her chains apart to grab her attention before kneeling down to her level as if reciting Grandia prayers to the Divines of War that she had seen so many soldiers perform in Adestania "Hey, you're going to need to stand your ground if you want to get back to the woods." She stated to the girl before slicing her own chains that restricted her ankles. "If you want to live, you're going to need to muster up any strength you have and swing at me with all you got. When I say "Now!", give me your worse whether it be with a punch or a slap. If you show any sign of pulling back, this might not go as planned. Show me how much you're wiling to do for you're freedom with that hit. You want to live, correct?" She asked for only the two to hear despite the chants roaring over them. She rose from the ground and showed some decent sword-dancing with the massive sword before pointing it at her opponent. "Then stand up and fight!" She ordered to rally and convince the crowd.

As soon as Cassiopeia was dropped on the ground of the arena, she began crying even harder. How was this seriously her life? She'd put up with so much for so long, only to think she'd finally found her own freedom, and get it cut down in the blink of an eye like this. In a coliseum, defenseless and crying and so weak. But she wasn't weak, she just wasn't a fighter! It looked however that that lack of fighting skill was going to be her downfall. She should have let that farmer back in Ulnasburg teach her self-defense. It would have at least given her a few minutes more, that she was sure of.

The arena around her was deafening. She was going to be sick, right here on the battlefield, she just knew it. Not only was she about to be killed gruesomely, a thousand people were watching, screaming for it to happen, for it was clear she was the weaker of the two that had been brought out. Thousands of people she didn't even know, who didn't know her, were going to revel in the fact that she was going to be slaughtered. She'd never see another tree, another flower, another animal. Oh, all those animals. Thinking about it just brought forth another wave of sobs and disgusting sniffles.

As she sat there, prepared for the killing for the final blow that didn't come, she wondered what was taking so long. When the woman sliced her chains apart, her heart sank all over again.Oh, no. Please, no, please don't let her be one of those sadistic people that like the chase more than the kill. I can't run like this, I can't even think, how does she expect me to give chase like this-, she thought, her panicked mantra cut off as the woman kneeled in front of her.

She... wasn't going to kill her. That alone should have relieved her, but instead it just lit a new kind of fire in her. How dare she let her think she was going to die, did this woman have any idea what stress did to her? She was angry. She couldn't remember ever being this angry, not since her father. She still didn't fully accept that the woman wasn't going to hurt her, that she didn't have some kind of ulterior motive, but she couldn't care anymore. If she was going to die, she was going to give this woman at least some struggle. She deserved at least that much, they both did.

She slowly stood on shaking legs, resembling a clumsy fawn, before regaining her balance and standing up straighter than she had since she'd arrived here. She still had tears streaming down her face, but they were no longer tears of despair. No, the look on her face morphed from forlorn and fearful, to defiant and furious. And if she was still a little scared, well, it only showed deep within her eyes, the rest of her posture and aura screaming rage.

"Are you kidding me?" She grit out through clenched teeth. "I thought I was going to die and you-- seriously?" She didn't bother to wait for the woman to tell her so; she didn't know what she was planning, but Cassiopeia had reached her limit. She planned on letting this woman see just how much this whole trauma had affected her. She launched herself swinging at the woman, not being able to reach her face, but planning on letting herself hit at her chestplate until her knuckles were bloodied or the woman decided to just end her anyway.
