Raffi Allegri

ғʀᴇᴇʟᴀɴᴄᴇ ωʀɪᴛᴇʀ

▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫

In the earliest hours of morning; before even the sun itself would rise out of its slumber, an alarm clock rang out its annoying tune of beeping. The morning birds had already awoke by then, and took it upon themselves to chirp along with the incessant beeping, causing any light sleeper nearby to awaken with a headache. The beeping of the alarm did suddenly stop though, its sudden ending clearly heard to the birds. The birds turned in the direction to which they had heard the annoying beeping last, and swiftly flew over. As soon as the birds nestled down next to the apartment window, they began chirping again, eager to wake their stirring friend inside.

Raffi Allegri eyes opened slowly as he heard the sound of his alarm clock. He lie there for a moment until he could no longer stand the incessant and annoying beeping. Despite his grogginess, the male quickly reached over and hit the alarm clock's snooze button, creating silence in the small apartment room. With the room silent once more Raffi began to fall asleep again, that is, until his chirping friends began urging him to get up.

"Wake up Raffi! You have to go to the coffee shop this morning!"

"You have a deadline today as well!"

"Now get your sleepy self up!"

The tired and groggy male opened his eyes again, but this time with slight liveliness. Raffi sat up and gave a big yawn and stretched. Shortly after, the male reached over to his bed side and picked up red glasses. Getting rid of any boogies with his other hand, Raffi then set the glasses on his face. He slid out of his warm and cozy bed, revealing the male's smooth yet strong skin along with his only piece of clothing, black boxers. Raffi then walked over to his window and opened up the blinds, revealing the ever fading darkness and his chirping friends. "Thanks for getting me up guys. I owe you one." he thanked to the happily chirping birds as he watched them fly away. With a smile, Raffi turned back to his small apartment, and began his day.

The slim and tall figure of Raffi is slightly unclear as the male makes his way down the block in the small light of morning. A warm scarf wraps itself around Raffi's neck, while a brown coat and blue pants settle for the male's upper and lower body. A brown messenger bag rests to Raffi's right side; it contents full of notebooks, pencils, and books. With the final part of his look being a brown paper boy hat, Raffi turns to the next block, close to his destination. He continues walking until he sees his destination, and upon arriving on it, takes brass keys out of his pocket. He takes one of the keys and places it in the door. Turning the key, Raffi unlocks the door and opens it, stepping inside.

Raffi steps inside the empty coffee shop. He makes his way past the mahogany tables and chairs, and walks behind the counter that customers line up to. Setting his stuff down nearby, Raffi pulls out an apron and slips it on. He then goes around grabbing ingredients and such before returning to his work station. Raffi needs these things to make the coffee and sweets for the soon morning rush hour. Organizing his ingredients, Raffi gets to work, determined to finish before the coffee shop opens.

With a tired and satisfied grin, Raffi sat down. Just two hours before, he had set to work on making everything for morning rush hour. During this time, other coworkers had arrived and helped him out, and now, at exactly 6:00 a.m., the coffee shop had opened for the day. Raffi had only five minutes to rest before the first customer appeared. The male took a sip of the coffee he had made earlier and then attended to the customer. Getting what the customer had asked for, Raffi quickly made and prepared the sweet and drink, and then handed it to the customer. The customer paid, and just before he left, Raffi smiled at the customer. "Have a good day sir." Raffi said, and waved as the customer departed. Raffi knew that more customers were sure to come, so Raffi set aside his tiredness and prepared himself for whatever was to come his way.

                                                  ▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫

The coon yawned. Breaking the silence in his quaint little flat with the whine that could be compared to a dog stretching its jaws open. Leaning back in his rolling chair the boy lifted his arms up, intertwining his calloused fingers in a light embrace that pulled his muscles taught when stretched. The action itself was enough to cause a rolling pop in his kinked shoulder blades. Limbs finally relaxing after being hunkered over a desk most of the darkened hours of night. "Ohhh.." he groaned, dropping his hands with a heavy slap into his lap once more. Taking but a moment to survey his handy work. The guts of an old music box lay neatly scattered along the smooth surface of his work space. The little silver turn wheel. Its matching and equally delicate pins, the latch, the cogs..
As he rolled his coppery hued eyes along the different pieces he could almost mentally piece it together. Going into a minor step by step process.
This little beauty belonged to an elderly women, his first client in a few weeks at least. She had run across his add in the newspaper with hopeful eyes, hoping to restore her childhood treasure. A music box that was given to her by her mother. While Eiji had never worked on such an old model he wasn't able to just turn her away, not with those pleading doe eyes.

So here he sat. Completely spreading open the entire rose wood box to see what lay dormant just underneath. So far it was just a load of intricate little puzzle pieces that left him scratching his hair in confusion. He had found the part that she had spoken about, the mallet. A very small piece that he had to handle with a pair of tweezers just to keep from loosing it between his pinched fingers. It was one of many that tapped along the impressions to help make the song burst into life. Three of them had corroded over the ages. While the rest weren't to bad off he was still going to replace them anyways. The parts had been a hassle, but they only came in clusters of twenty four so he had a large amount of left overs. Perfect enough to spruce up the entire box. Wiggling his lips back and forth to work the irritating itch out of his nose he swiveled around. Pushing into the floor with his socked foot Eiji rolled away just far enough to allow him room to kick his legs out. "Hmm.." he whined, frowning when he looked up at the clock. It was already this early in the morning?

The face of the neon bright clock telling of it being 6:30 am. If he didn't get moving now Eiji would no doubt fall to sleep. Which would probably come to bite him in the rump later on when he missed class today at the local university. Odd that one would be going to sleep for the "night" at this hour of the morning right? For most it was the case but in the life of a Raccoon creature, it was normal. Being nocturnal prevented Eiji from really sleeping when it was night time like so many of his neighbors might. Usually he would arrive from work around two thirty in the afternoon. From upon which he would instantly seek out the nearest cushion or chair and crash like a rock to the bottom of a trench. Curling into a ball and slipping out of consciousness without a problem. From here Eiji would sleep until his eternal clock would strike him up by nine. Once he had shaken off the drowsiness of sleep the dark haired boy would proceed his morning routine. Brushing his teeth, pulling on a pair of comfy clothes, digging around in his little kitchenette for something to crunch on while he would sink himself into something to occupy his time. It was after all rather drab when the world was sleeping while you were awake.

Grunting Eiji pushed himself up out of his chair and proceeded to get ready for his day activities. Discarding his pajamas in favor of a more natural state so he could clean up in a hot shower. The shock of the warming liquid splattering on his tired face was enough to give him a reenergized boost. Eyes blinking wide, "Crap!" the male hissed, shaking out his hair but not to willing to retreat. He made quick work of this. Only allowing a good ten minutes for showering before turning off the water and climbing out to dry himself off. Once this was complete Eiji walked across the bare hallway and into his bedroom. Flinging open his closet door to scan over his wardrobe. He would technically only be out and about for at least four hours so he didn't pick anything to fancy. Just an average pair of dark jeans, light brown and loose fitting long sleeve sweater. To match with it he slipped out a Chocolate brown t-shirt jacket with a hood, to keep his ears warm. That was the worst part about being chilled over in his opinion. Having the nasty cold air nipping at his sensitive ears. Once he was satisfied the boy pulled on a pair of flat bottom elastic banded shoes and called it a day!

Now that he was presentable to boy promptly left. Closing all the doors into any rooms shut with a soft click before grabbing his keys and wallet from the end table at the entrance. After that Eiji collected up the materials he would need for his class which only consisted of the required text book along with a few writing utensils and an old beaten up laptop. Old faithful he would tease to his staring class mates, or snap at them when they made fun of it. Why replace something that wasn't broken?

Once he was outside, had the door locked up tight, and made it to the stairs without any human interaction Eiji was on his way.
Since he was a bit ahead of schedule he didn't bother with catching a bus this morning. Instead he took a more physical route and just walked. Save on a bit of pocket cash and get in some exercise for the win. Besides, the town bus didn't just stop for someone who wanted a cup of caffeine now did they? He had a certain café in mind. It was one of the few he hadn't managed to stop at over his days out on his own. Why scope out to different coffee shops that were more then likely so far out of his way? Why not just pick one closest to you and stick with it yes? Well, that meant regularity. Which lead to recognition and eventually friendly ness. For someone who had a hideous way of making conversation that was, unfavorable. So Eiji switched it up. Every couple of weeks he would stop going to one café in favor of hitting up another. By the time he was through four different locations it was rendered safe to return to the first one. Or in most cases it was. Eiji had visited the ones on his side of town to often and they could remember his order now. So it was time to scope for another group.

Which is how he landed himself here. Standing awkwardly in front of a cozy looking café that from the looks of it was just beginning to wake. Snap to life with customers as they woke up, went in search of their daily fix. Wrinkling his nose the beast man hesitated. There was by far not enough people mingling about to keep him safe behind the shroud of a morning rush. Only a few lingered here and there. But, on a good note it meant he would get through the line pretty quickly which would give him time to finish his homework assignment. The one he had procrastinated on..
Tugging at his ear the boy flicked his attention between the employees he could see from here. Studying their demeanors first before actually entering. Most of them appeared to be pleasant enough. Speaking to someone when they drew close to the counter. Yet the slouch in their shoulders suggested an underlining tiredness. He didn't blame them, it was way early and they had probably already been here for a few hours or more. And then there was the one boy.

A bright smile and equally vibrant features that suggested he was joyed to be there. Fluttering about with an attentiveness that rivaled even the busiest humming bird. Eiji cocked his head to the side as he watched the male work. Peering out from behind those thin framed glasses. He assumed that the male was probably about his age. No longer titled as a "teen" but not old enough to be considered mid age. Twenty...twenty four at the oldest. As the raccoon grasped the handle to proceed inside his next impression was how tall the other was. Now, Eiji was to short. Borderline average for a male of his age..but it was still odd to see people taller then himself. None the less Eiji locked his place in line by standing behind a still deciding customer. While it would of been ok in this situation to just jump ahead of the other he didn't like the idea of going first. So he patiently waited, taking the time to also scan over the menu despite reading over just the teas. Perfect, most of the names he recognized with content. It was going to be a good day he decided...or so far at least.

With a warm smile Raffi handed a croissant and mocha to his most recent customer. "That will be $5.00 exactly miss." Raffi informed the quite gloomy-looking businesswoman before him. She looked up to see Raffi's warm smile as she took out her wallet. The businesswoman stared quite surprised at how warm Raffi's smile felt before pulling herself together and smiling back, her day seeming promising all of a sudden. She handed Raffi a five-dollar bill, and thanked him for making her day better, and so early in the morning at that. "No problem. It's natural habit for me. Enjoy your day." Raffi explained to her, and wished her well. With a final wave, the businesswoman left, and Raffi waved back lightly before putting the five dollar bill into the cash register.

The joyous male turned towards the clock, checking to see what time it was. "6:30 huh? It's only been that long?" Raffi asked himself. He had a feeling he was forgetting about something, so he turned to his fellow coworker, Yoko, and asked her. "Hey Yoko, is there something I'm forgetting about?" The brunette-haired female turned to him with confusion. "Something your forgetting? Well, have you checked to see if the new batch of croissants are done?" she asked back. Raffi's eyes grew wide as he remembered what he had forgotten. He smiled at her with relief before replying. "Thanks Yoko, I owe you one. Better go hurry and pull out the croissants before they burn!" Raffi thanked her as he patted her on the head and headed into the back.

The back of the coffee shop was basically a kitchen. The floor was brown tile, the walls were a tanned yellow, and silver vents led all the smoking air past the white ceiling and to the outside. Strangers nearby would be able to smell the aroma of the snacks and coffee beans, and most would make their way to the coffee shop. This helped the coffee shop attract customers, and thus led to the business being successful in the struggling economy. Inside the back of the coffee shop though, stoves and ovens were located to the left, while cooking utensils lay in the center, and storage lay to the right. The floor plan was set this way to prevent any fires from occurring, helped with organization, and let any new employee from getting lost in the huge space.

Upon entering the back of the coffee shop, Raffi turned left immediately. The male had been in the back so many times that he knew the space all too well; it was to be expected with an employee who had worked there for over a year after all. Raffi neared the stoves and oven checked the times of the croissants. Through his eyes, Raffi saw that the croissant stoves had one minute left. With a small grin, the male quickly turned around and trotted over to the utensils. He grab two brown oven mittens and walked back over to the ovens. He slipped one of them on as the sound of beeping suddenly rung out, signalling that the croissants had finished. The male hit the Clear button, and the beeping of the ovens stopped. Raffi then slipped his other mitten on, and opened the stainless steal oven.

The wonderful aroma of fluffy and moist croissants hits Raffi's nostrils as he pulled them out, making the male's mouth water. He set the first batch on the top of the stove, glad that nothing was cooking there at the time. After that, Raffi goes to each oven that the contained the croissants and pulls out the fluffy-looking food. He sets each batch on the their designated stoves, and waits five minutes for the croissants to cool down. As the food is cooling down, Raffi goes to the fridge on the other side of the room and grabs the butter. As he walks back the male grabs a butter knife slightly larger than most, and trots over to the now cooled down croissants. He takes the knife and butter and spreads it over the fluffy food, careful not to burn his hands.

A few minutes passed before Raffi completely finished buttering the croissants. He was articulate when it came to such things; the male was a writer after all. He picked up the butter and the now messy knife and made his way to the sink in the back. He set the butter on the side of the counter and quickly washed the knife with soap and water before setting it in the drainer. Raffi grabbed a nearby clean cloth and dried the knife before putting it away once more. He then took the butter and fast-walked to the fridge. Raffi opened the fridge and set the butter in its designated location, and closed the fridge door. The male then turned around and made his way back to the croissants. Slipping the brown oven mittens back on, Raffi took the first two batches of croissants to the front of the coffee shop.

Swinging the white door open again, but this time with his elbow and hip, Raffi walked through the doorway carefully but quickly. He made his way to an empty counter before setting the croissant batches down. Other available female coworkers nearby saw this and helped him out. They went to the back as well, slipped some oven mittens on, and grabbed the rest of the batches for setting them on empty counter spaces. "Thanks ladies." Raffi said as he thanked them. The females nodded at him with a smile before they returned to attending customers. Raffi turned back to his work as well, and soon began organizing the [still] very warm croissants.

Not much time passed before Raffi finished sorting the croissants out. He took the fluffy food and began setting them into the glass counter, where they would be clearly seen to the oncoming customers. As he worked, Raffi hummed a small tune; something to be expected from the male who was always loving life. Not many people nearby heard, but those who did liked the happiness the humming gave off, making the people feel better about the day ahead of them. Raffi just smiled and kept humming, continuing his job and attending to the buttery croissants before him.

Raffi slipped the last croissant into the glass counter and closed the lid to the display glass counter. He looked at his buttery hands with satisfaction before the male walked over to the sink. Raffi washed his hands thoroughly and dried them off with a towel nearby. Grabbing his coffee from before, Raffi took a sip of his coffee, a Sumatra blend, and turned to observe the customers in line. He was happy that so many customers had shown up already, but that was to be expected during morning rush hour. Despite this though, Raffi was content by the fact that people came to this coffee shop to wake up from their sleepiness, whether it be from coffee, tea, or the snacks.

As Raffi observed the customers, a particular male caught his attention. The male had dark colored hair, but the underlay of white was clearly seen. This peaked Raffi's interest, and the male thought it reminded him of some sort of animal, but he couldn't figure out what... Shrugging his inner thoughts off, Raffi adjusted his red glasses, and continued to observe the male. It didn't take long until Raffi figured out what the male was looking at, and he looked up and back behind him to see the teas the coffee shop had to offer. Raffi gave a small chuckle as he turned back to see the male in the front of the line. Raffi went over to the counter and greeted him. "Good morning sir, is there something particular you'd like to order?" Raffi asked the male with his usual warm smile.

                                                  ▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫
