Ranka could see the supernatural, that was a fact that made his seemingly boring life an absolute mess. People didn't like it when you pointed to empty space and said something was there, it seems. Relentlessly bullied by his peers and ignored by his parents Ranka decided the best thing for him to do was to keep his head down, and live a normal life. That is until his classmates dare (read: force) him to go to the resident spooky manor, and then things go very very bad.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Name: Ranka Kurosawa
Age: 17
Personality: For the most part Ranks seems to be a quiet boy who keeps to himself, or at least that's how he is to the humans in his town. To the supernatural he's a foulmouthed little a*****e with a resting face that borders on homicidal. Ranka is not fond of the supernatural and all the weirdness that it intels. Unfortunately the supernatural is very interested in him. So he gets through his life with heavy sass and very good running and dodging skills.

Background: Ranka's first encounter with the supernatural was when he was eight, he was visiting relative in the hospital and managed to encounter a reaper of all things taking someone's soul. Upon telling his parents about the monster in the hospital they dismissed it as a childish fantasy. Unfortunately in trying to make his parents believe him, Ranka began pointing out the various supernatural creatures he saw and it escalated to the point where they thought he was "broken" or delusional and decided to start ignoring him in order to stamp it out. It didn't work.

∥ Vaughan Kroll ∥

"Fighting the fear will only make it that much stronger, you know... not that I'm complaining."

⤜Name: Vaughan (typically assumes the last name "Kroll" when presenting himself as a human)

⤜Gender: Male

⤜Species: Demon

⤜Age: Unknown

⤜Orientation: Pansexual

⤜Appearance: 6'0", pale skin, shaggy black hair, and grey eyes. His musculature is lean, adding minimal bulk to his frame. Demonic / True form: Same as mentioned before, but with the addition of a pair of large bat-like wings and a skull covering his face. The skull in question is no mask, but rather, Vaughan's actual face. A purple-black swirling mist-like substance can be seen through the skull's eye sockets, and - should the skull be removed - over the expanse of where Vaughan's face would have been. Should the skull not be replaced, his 'human face' will eventually form... though as the removal of the skull is a somewhat uncomfortable process, he does not make it a regular habit.

⤜Powers / Abilities: Flight, reversion to a smoke-like form, passage through walls / solid objects, temperature drop, fear instillation. Flight is only possible when in his true form, though he can fly for quite some distance before tiring. Reverting to his smoke-like form can occur in either human or true form, and is required for him to pass through walls and / or solid objects. Likewise, both fear instillation and temperature drop can - and will - occur in either human or true form, though both traits are not intentional. Vaughan naturally instills fear into those around him, though the effect is amplified when in his true form. Those of a weaker constitution will find themselves more affected. The area around Vaughan's immediate vicinity will also be naturally cooler (again, the effect is diminished when in human form, amplified when in true form). While he has some control over both the instillation of fear and the lowering of the temperature around him, it is impossible for him to wholly stop either from occurring.

⤜Personality: Though undoubtedly two sides of the same coin, Human!Vaughan and Demon!Vaughan are two vastly different individuals. When presenting himself as a human, Vaughan is more often than not kind and polite - almost to the point of being overly so. He will be very mindful of his words and actions, and will do his best to be on his utmost best behavior. When not parading himself around as a human, all pleasantries are dropped. Kindness is a rarity (if you can even all what he considers to be a 'kindness'... an actual kindness), and you can certainly forget about him being 'polite.' He is snide, haughty, and horribly vindictive. Regardless of which form he takes, the only certainty is thus: If Vaughan is found helping anyone, it is only because he has somehow reasoned that it will inevitably help him in the long run.

The first thing Ranka thought when he stared up at the manor that looked like it came out of a gothic horror novel was, "This is complete bullshit."

He was a good kid, heavy sass and bitchiness aside he didn't ******** deserve this. He turned and scowled at the teenagers who were jeering and laughing at him behind the gate to the manor. The gate they had forcibly locked Ranka out from like the little assholes they were.

"C'mon Ranka all you gotta do is stay in the manor for a night and take a few pictures. After all you can see the supernatural right? So it'll be easy." They laughed.

Ranka promptly flipped them off and scowled harder when they laughed. But he knew there was no way he could get out of here while they were still around. Oh he knew he could climb the fence if he wanted but that would lead to them beating the crap out of him for being a "coward."

So he was going to stay in the manor until they got bored and left, and then hop the fence. A simple plan if it weren't for the fact that very feeling of the manor felt like someone was very bluntly saying. "You're gonna ******** die if you go in here kid."

Heaving out a groan he begin picking his way towards the manor, hoping to find a way in it that wouldn't risk him dying or getting injured.

The passage of time is unrelenting. Ever onward does it march, heedless of who or what it may affect. When exactly the passage of time had seemed to begin to slow for him, Vaughan couldn't say. Perhaps it was due to his age, but the sad truth of the matter was thus-- his days seemed to pass by with an unnatural slowness. And he was bored. Day in and day out, things often proceeded much in the same way as it did the day before that.

And the day before that.

And the day before that.

There simply isn't enough variety to break up the monotony of it all. And it is, in short, driving him positively mad. Sure, he'll get the occasional visitor - usually a teen attempting to prove themselves to their peers, or a bum seeking shelter from the elements - but it just isn't enough. At least, not anymore. In the beginning, the all too infrequent passerby was more than enough to satisfy him. But now... now, its all so... predictable; so boring. People come, and - though they couldn't actually see him - they would still fear him. Real, tangible... beautiful fear. And then they'd leave, and he'd be left to his own devices while he awaited the next person - the next meal - to inevitably amble along.

Day in and day out, it was all too predictable. And far too boring.

It is that very same boredom that finds Vaughan in his current state-- face-up on his back, lounging precariously atop the railing of the manor's loft. Had it not been for the commotion outside, he likely would have been content to stay there for the remainder of the day. Despite the distance and the manor's walls, the sounds of muted laughter and jeers still manage to reach him. Swinging his legs over the side of the railing, Vaughan heaves himself into a sitting position before allowing himself to slip off of the railing altogether. Though the fall is hardly what he'd consider to be a long one, his wings still flare out subconsciously at the last second, slowing his descent and cushioning his fall.

Straightening his posture and tucking his wings back against his body, the demon ends up behind a nearby window shortly thereafter, arms crossed loosely over his torso and hip leaning against the windowsill. "Human kindness knows no bounds," he tuts in mild amusement as he takes in the sight before him. His gaze flickers from the teens behind the locked gate to the one currently trying to find his way into the manor-- clearly, the boy had been locked in. A pity, that, though Vaughan was hardly complaining. With a bit of luck, this human would hopefully provide him the distraction from his own boredom that he so desperately desired.

"I wonder how long you'll last?" Vaughan murmurs aloud to himself, the swirling haze behind his mask kicking up in his mirth. "Provided that you can find your way in, of course..." Though going off from past experiences, he knew that - given enough time - the lad would eventually secure his way into the manor. They always did, just like the rats they were.

Blooming Tea

*Sorry I haven't posted work has just been...ugh and i've just been super tired and stressed*

Ranka eventually did find a way into the manor, granted the way in was through a broken window and he was eyeing dubiously.

"If I cut myself on this or get tetanus I am going to be so ******** mad." He grumbled and began slow inching his way through the window. The good news was that he didn't cut himself, the bad new is that he lost his grip and promptly fell the rest of the window landing on his back.

He laid there a few second just staring up at the dark ceiling of the room he was in, before covering his face and letting out a frustrated noise. Ranka then pushed himself off the floor mindful of any glass and then fished out his phone turning the light on.

"Alright let's get this ******** over with." He muttered as began making his way through the manor snapping pictures as he went.

He knew something was in here, the very air of the house was sending off alarm bells in his head. Ranka just hoped whatever the hell was in here wouldn't be interested in him.
