What if the world was divided into kingdoms on floating islands in the sky, and subterranean tunnel cities, because the surface is riddled with bandits, evil creatures, and dangerous plant forms?
What would we call this place? I think I'd call the whole universe....Vretoaz. The Sky Kingdom would be Calandreai, and the Subterranean World would be Gortulki.
The people of Calandreai would have lovely golden tan skin from exposure to the sun, and long elfin ears to hear conversation over the winds of high altitudes. They would be tall, stretching in their wide open spaces. The Calan elves would have a deep love of knowledge, and of their own selves. Many are conceited and pompous, but they have good hearts. Once you've made a friend in a Calan elf, they are your friend for life
The people of Gortulki would have pale gray skin from years without sunlight, and large golden eyes to gather as much light as possible. They would be petite, confined by small tunnels. They are tempermental, emotional beings, the Gortuls, but they love hard and make friends quickly. It's hard to find a Gortul you don't like at one point or another.
The Gortuls and Calan elves are always at odds, being so different and so disposed to different thinkings. Often they fight, and rarely do they go back and forth between countries, so sharp are their disputes. Political relations are tense at best, and skirmishes have often broken out. But in the end, they both need each other, and realize that need.
More to add to this World later.
