PRELUDE
It was a bright sunny day in Autumn. Yes, what a beautiful day it was. The brids chirped melodically in unison, the bees did their business, buzzing from daisy to daisy, and a cozy nest of 13 eggs had just hatched near a warm, foggy pond. 13 ducklings waddled along in perfect harmony behind their mother. BAM! Came the sudden crash that send everything awry. A shotgun had been fired, and just as that piercing sound echoed through the treetops, the mother duck had collapsed. Shortly after, the ducklings all met the same tragedy. All but one. This ducking was unusually small, and wasn’t noticed by the shooter. She was the last one to have hatched, lucky number 13. Alarmed, the baby duck made a mad dash into the pond, and swam as far away as she could.

CHAPTER 1
Ahiru sat on a lilypad, nodding her head as she slept. It seemed so long ago that she witnessed her own family’s death, but it haunted her still. She awoke with a start, snapping back to conciousness as she clumsily fell into the water at the sudden jolt. She let out an annoyed sigh, and surfaced. ‘It was only two weeks ago’ She reminded herself as she hovered on the water’s surface, finding it calming as she always did. She hung her head, growing tired of this average life. “NO! Please! STOP IT!” Yuki cried as Akito whiped him once more. Akito left, saying nothing. Yuki, with no place else to go, ran. He ran like Hell until he found a dead end at a pond, and fell to his knees, sobbing. “ I’m only a child! I shouldn’t have to deal with this… ” He murmered through sobs. Ahiru’s gaze darted about as she saw the other ducks, fish, bees and birds flee the area. Curious as usual, Ahiru looked around to see what had caused the comotion. She saw a little boy with lavender hair and amythist eyes kneeling by the lake’s edge, crying his little heart out. The duckling merely tilted her head, unsure of what to do. Yuki saw a little yellow figure floating on the pond surface, and abruptly flinched. He realized it was just a duck, and he smiled a little. “ You can run away… I’m a freak. ” He spoke to the duck. Ahiru blinked, and just stared. ‘He looks so sad…’ She thought to herself. “Quack!” She blurted, swimming over to the boy. ‘ Hey you! Smile! ’ She said internally, but unable to really speak to him. Yuki’s smile widened a little as he wiped his tears away. “Aren’t you afraid?” holding out his hand to offer the duckling a place to sit, assuming the duck would come right up to him and sit in the palm of his hand. The young boy’s sudden movement of holding out his hand made Ahiru flinch slightly. ‘What are you doing?’ she said to herself. She still continued towards him, since he seemed kind. Now, she was only a few inches away from the water’s edge where the boy sat. She looked up at him. “ Come on… I won’t hurt you… ” Yuki comforted as he began to feel his spirits somewhat lifted by the little duck’s presence. “ Qua! ” The duck fled as another boy stepped up behind Yuki. “ You tried to run away, did you? ” Akito’s voice was cold, and sent a shiver down Yuki’s spine. Ahiru merely watched from afar, getting a bad vibe from the other boy behind Yuki. “ … Please… I can’t take it anymore… ” Yuki pleaded, his tears quickly returning. Akito smirked wickedly, and pulled out the infamous whip from behind his back. Yuki took off again, this time with Akito hot on his trail.
Things continued on that way for about a month. However, one thing changed.. The more Ahiru saw Yuki, she had fallen in love with him. And everytime he came, her feelings got stronger. “ If only I could make him smile… ” Ahiru wished with all her heart. So, every day from that point forward, the duck prayed and prayed for a chance to get to protect and help the boy.
---------------
CHAPTER 2
It was sometime in late June, when that fateful day came. Ahiru stopped seeing the boy, and began to worry. Worry soon turned into sleepless nights, and an aching pain in her heart. She prayed more, almost 24/7. Then, that night, God approached the duckling. “ Ahiru… You have been faithful, and true. If it is that boy you wish to be closer to, I can take you from this life, and bring you closer to him. If that is what you wish. ” At this, Ahiru’s hopes rised, and she gladly accepted. With that, Ahiru was taken up to Heaven to reside with God. There, she took on a human appearance. She was still not very tall, with brick red eyes, brunette hair with white/blonde highlights. She had white feathery wings now, and a bright golden halo that somehow managed to hover above her head. Since ducks have two legs, and can walk, Ahiru quickly adapted to this new lifestyle. God explained the terms and conditions of this miracle he had granted her. “ I have taken you here, to be a guardian angel. ” He said. Ahiru’s eyes lit up. “ And I’m HIS guardian angel, right?? ” At this point, Ahiru stil had not learned the boy’s name. God shook his head, and motioned toward a whirlwind that created an image of Akito, the boy Ahiru despised more than anything for the pain he had caused Yuki. “ THIS is who you’re assigned to. ” God chuckled. “ You will be closer to Yuki, as promised. ” Ahiru’s eyes flared in anger at this. Infuraited, she swung at the image to get it away. God’s eye narrowed at Ahiru. “ Are you defying me? ” He spoke with force in his voice. “ YES. ” Ahiru said firmly. “ I will not be that monster’s angel. I don’t care if you’re God or not. I won’t do it. ” God glared sharply. “ Then you are banished!!! ” He shouted. “ Fine. I would rather be banished then to do something that would only harm Yuki more. ” Ahiru said matter-of-factly. God’s followers – angels – Soon captured Ahiru, and bound her to a wooden cross by barbed wire that cut into her flesh. Ahiru showed no sign of pain, as she was still blinded by anger. God drove a sharp, metal crucifix into Ahiru’s left wing, piercing it and making it immobile and useless. “ This will be a pain you will forever live with. This is your redemption. ” He smirked. The other angels laughed and chanted as they tortured Ahiru. Whips, knives, anything you could think of, they used. Ahiru didn’t let out a single scream or shriek, but instead, locked up all her emotions to numb the pain. She hung her head as a single tear fell. She was shunned from Heaven, never to return. Thus making her a fallen angel. She walked the streets, unseen by the human eye, but her bloody wing dragged along the pavement as she wandered about. “ Yuki… ” She mumbled to herself. Immediately, her eyes sparkled with determination. “ YUKI! ” She ran toward the area she had seen him most. She headed back to where it all started. The lake. -----------------
CHAPTER 3
The weak and exhausted Ahiru collapsed nearly halfway there, and blacked out. Meanwhile, Yuki was locked in the cage Akito had arranged for him, quivering in fear as Akito’s footsteps were heard near the doorway. Already, Yuki began to cry, knowing what was to happen. Akito was still furious that he had tried to escape before, and was still punishing him for it. As Akito slid open the door, Yuki cried harder. “ Aw, is the rat-boy sad already? Why are you crying? ” Akito smirked. “ Please Akito… Don’t … ” Yuki began shaking with fear. “ STOP CRYING!! ” Akito demanded. Yuki tried to calm his tears, but they just kept coming. At this, Akito’s fury was unleashed.“ I’ll give you something to cry about…” Akito scowled as he cracked the whip upon Yuki’s trembling figure over and over again, Yuki’s screams growing louder. Akito cackled in satisfaction as Yuki lay sprawled on the cage floor. Akito left the room, leaving Yuki bloody and beaten. Ahiru’s eyes fluttered open as she looked around. The past events had been a daze to her, but they were all but forgotten. Still lacking the energy to do much, she forced herself to her feet. “ I’m coming… Yu… ki … ” Her voice was barely a whisper as she stumbled along, eventually reaching the lake. He wasn’t there. Ahiru’s eye swelled with tears as she felt hopeless. Then, just as she tried to think of where to look next, she heard Yuki’s sorrowful voice in the distance crying out for help. Ahiru rushed toward his voice, forgetting any pysical problems, and only focusing on finding Yuki. “ MAKE IT STOP! PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP ME! ” Yuki screamed in anguish. At last, Ahiru reached him, and ran to his aide. “ Yuki! ” She cried, tears streaming down her face. “ It’ll be okay! I promise! I’ll do anything I can! Just tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do it! ” Yuki just trembled and cried, the angel beside him invisible to him, and her presence unknown. “ No one loves me… ” Yuki spoke to himself, repeating this over and over again in insanity. Ahiru’s eyes widened and she cried more. “ That’s… not true…. ” She collapsed beside him, and attempted to embrace him. She soon realized she was unable to touch him. Unable to feel him. And he couldn’t see or hear her. The broken angel cried out in utter sorrow as she had been cheated, and fooled by God himself. Yuki cried until he fell asleep, and Ahiru wept by his side, unable to sleep. “ God dammit… ” She mumbled. God and the other angels were observing Ahiru in amusement, laughing and making fun of how pathetic she was. “ The stupid duck should’ve just taken what she was offered. ” One angel pointed out. “ Yeah, and to go against God just to be with a boy like that… ” Laughed another. “ She doesn’t even know his secret yet, does she? ” Questioned God to himself. He chuckled. “ She’ll find out sooner or later. ”

CHAPTER 4
The next morning, Yuki awoke with a sudden start as he jolted awake from another nightmare. Ahiru remained unnoticed as she watched him intently. Yuki sighed, and went back into the secluded corner where he usually sat, and simply waited for when Akito would come in. Ahiru sighed hopelessly. “ Yuki-senpai… ” She mumbled as she sat beside him. Still, he never noticed. Days went on like that for a few years, until Yuki was 14. At that time, Ahiru set off every so often to wander about. While walking, she came across an old hag who could somehow see Ahiru. “ … To see that which has no form… ” The old woman spoke. “ That is what I live for. Now come, and I will help you.” At this offer, Ahiru hesitantly agreed. At specified intervals of each day, Ahiru would go to the old womans house, where she was taught witchcraft and black magic. After a while, Ahiru found the woman’s name was Maruchiel, who, just like Ahiru, was forced out of Heaven after murdering a past enemy she had on Earth. While Ahiru was gone, it seemed that Yuki’s depression got worse, and Akito’s beatings more harsh. Yuki felt alone when she was gone. Of course, Yuki had yet to learn that Ahiru was even there. As far as he knew, he was just going insane. After a year of training, Ahiru learned how to make her form more solidified, making her visible to the human eye, and able to touch things instead of just being all invisible and whatnot. She used this to her advantage. Even after guarding over Yuki for all this time, Ahiru’s love had not died or dimmed in the least bit. In fact, her feelings seemed to grow stronger yet. Her top priority was to keep him safe, and thus far, she had failed. It was killing her on the inside, eating away at her heart. So, as soon as she could, she bid Maruchiel farewell and headed back to Yuki ASAP. Yuki, at this moment in time, lay trembling and unconcious on the cage floor. Ahiru appeared before him, not as a ghostly figure, but in her solid form. She did this while he was unconcious, however, so he was oblivious. Ahiru gently picked him up, and carried him away. After spending quite some time around Yuki, she had learned that he had other relatives living nearby, who cared for him and would let him stay. She knocked on the door of Shigure’s house, Yuki still in her arms. Shigure answered the door, eyes wide in disbeleif. “ H-Hello, miss. ” Ahiru smiled pleadingly “ Please… Let him stay here. Even though it’s short notice, I’m begging you… ” Shigure nodded, and took the boy from Ahiru. Ahiru smiled, and vanished before Shigure. Though, she had not left. Shigure arranged a room for Yuki, and there, Ahiru stayed with him. She knew he was in beter care, but she still needed to be near him. If she didn’t she seriously thought she was going to die. Yuki’s mental health gradually improved, and he started making friends again. Ahiru went with him everywhere, to school, home, the bus, the store, everywhere. ( Heh.. The bathroom. XD ) Rarely did she let him out of her sight. Then, one day when all the children were playing, Ahiru witnessed the most peculiar part of Yuki yet. “ Come on, Yuki!” shouted a little girl. At this, Ahiru glared. " It's Yuki-SENPAI, you fool. SENPAI. " Yuki didn’t move, the point of this game was to stand completely still, against all force. She pulled him hard, and he fell over, falling onto her. There was a huge poof and a loud scream. Ahiru rushed to where Yuki was last, but where he stood, was only a rat.
---------------
CHAPTER 5
Ahiru’s eyes widened as she gazed upon the furry creature while everyone else ran away screaming. Later that week, Hatori Sohma, the doctor of the family, had to erase every child’s memory that witnessed Yuki’s transformation. Ahiru felt much sympathy for him, as she knew what it was like to be frowned upon because of what you are. Ahiru’s anger rose at the thought of it, and she only wished she could make things better for Yuki. Day by day, as he went to school, Ahiru would watch as the fangirls glomped, attempted to hug, and admired Yuki. Naturally, it made her jealous. She knew she couldn’t do anything about it though. And the only thing she COULD do would be to appear in her solidified form and scare the s**t out of them. But that would be a misuse of her abilities. After time, she also noticed an egotistical, arrogant, rude, but undeyably pretty girl by the name of Asuka Langley Soryu had joined their class. Ahiru, blinded by her love for Yuki, plotted all night long and pondered her new plan. Then, she had it. She would fuse her soul with Asuka’s, and get closer to Yuki. At the moment, it seemed like a really good idea. With that, Ahiru smirked and did as she normally did, and watched Yuki as he slept. The next day, as Asuka took her seat next to Yuki, Ahiru immediately put her plan into action. However, she experienced some difficulties. She soon realized that Asuka was a demon. Not a half, but a full demon. Ahiru’s angel spirit was broken, therefore not strong enough to break through the demonic barrier to Asuka’s soul. She sighed, and used full force to enter her soul. By doing this, Ahiru shattered her own soul even further. But she made it. Now, she saw what Asuka saw, knew what Asuka knew, and controlled what Asuka did. Asuka’s soul had subsided into another place while Ahiru took over. [ Note: From now on, Ahiru wil be referred to as Asuka, considering she’s in Asuka’s body, kay? ] ‘Asuka’ looked over at Yuki, and immediately blushed. Ahiru, inwardly, realized that if she was going to be in Asuka’s body, she better not ruin her reputation. ‘Asuka’s’ blush quickly faded and she gave Yuki a sharp glare. Ahiru winced inside, feeling a peircing pain in her heart for giving Yuki such disrespect. Yuki looked over at Asuka like she was crazy. “ Can I help you? ” ‘Asuka’s’ eyes widended. Inwardly, Ahiru was thrilled. He was talking to her! No, he was looking at her with those gorgeous eyes too! Her heart pounded. ‘Asuka’ glared again. “ Tch. No, you can’t, looser. ” The pain came again. Yuki rolled his eyes and went back to doing his work. After school, ‘Asuka’ bumped into Yuki at the lockers. “ HEY! Watch it! What are you, stupid?! ” Ahiru had been acting as Asuka all day, and so far had been pretty good at it. Until she realized who she was speaking to… “ Excuse me… ” Yuki tried to say as politely as he could to the bitchy girl who stood before him. “ Oh.. Yuki … it’s you… ” “ Yes. Did you need something? ” His eyes narrowed in distrust. At this, Ahiru felt that pain in her heart grow stronger. ‘Asuka’ said nothing, and walked away. Ahiru was incredibly uneasy, and wondered if her choice had been a mistake.
----------------------------
CHAPTER 6
Once again, Ahiru experienced difficulties in Asuka’s body. She had no clue where Asuka lived. Plus, she couldn’t just leave Yuki all alone and unprotected. After realizing this, she panicked. “ Yuki-senpai!!! Dammit!” she uttered in frustration. She darted back to Yuki’s house, and hid in a nearby tree outside Yuki’s window. There, she watched him all night. To make things MORE difficult, Asuka’s body was used to sleep. Ahiru hadn’t slept for quite some time now, considering she always stayed up to watch over Yuki. So in this body, Ahiru grew tired, and had to force herself to stay awake. While Yuki slept, Ahiru had many flashbacks of the distrust that shown in Yuki’s eyes. She knew it was because of her… well, Asuka’s attitude. So after giving it some thought, she came to the conclusion that she would be nicer, but only to Yuki. (Asuka would kill her is she ruined her reputation!) Yuki’s alarm clock went off, waking him from another nightmare of his horrid past. Yuki sighed, and tried not to think too much about it. ‘Asuka’ merely stared at him, and frowned, knowing that familiar sigh of his. As Yuki started off for school, she followed him, walking right behind him as she used to. Then, when Yuki turned and gave her a weird look, she remembered that she was in Asuka’s body now, and stalking him would be creepy. “ AH! Y-Y-Y-Yuki-senpai! ” She stuttered. Yuki raised an eyebrow at her, but said nothing. 'Asuka' looked down " I needed to talk to you, so I... uh ... I wasn't stalking you, but I was just... well.. I mean.. Not that I don't WANT to stalk you-- " She immediately stopped, and blushed. She realized how insane she must've sounded. Yuki held back a small chuckle. " Then talk to me. " He said, being kind, seeing as Asuka was doing the same. " Well... " 'Asuka' walked with him while speaking. " Last night... I'm not sure why, but I kept thinking about you. I just wanted to make sure you knew that. And, I'm sorry for being rude yesterday. " She bowed slightly. Yuki watched her. " Well, I'm afraid that I'm not really ready for a relationship, if that's what you're getting at. " 'Asuka's' eye twitched " Because you're a rat? " Almost instantly she realized that she wasn't supposed to know this. Yuki's eyes widened a little. He stopped walking, and grabbed her somewhat forcefully. " How do you know? " He sounded scared. " I was just kidding, jeez. " 'Asuka' laughed, trying to hide the truth. Ahiru, inwardly, felt both pained, and somewhat happy. The pain came because of the lies she had to put out, and the bliss came from Yuki's touch. " ...... Good. " He said, releasing his grip. " Gomen nasai. " 'Asuka' bowed again, extremely upset that she had said something that could've saddened him so much. With that, 'Asuka' and Yuki went their separate ways, going off to their classes.
-----------------------
CHAPTER 7
While sitting in first hour, 'Asuka' lazily scribbled in her notebook, sketching Yuki's name all over it. She smiled to herself, daydreaming of the day Yuki might notice her for who she really is, instead of the girl she's pretending to be. The bell rang, snapping 'Asuka' out of her daze. She dashed to her next class, where she would see Yuki. She saw him in the halls, on the way there, and he was walking with Tohru Honda. 'Asuka' watched from afar as Yuki smiled like she'd never seen him smile before. He was actually.. happy. There was a sudden aching in the pit of her heart at the fact that another girl could be the cause of his happiness. If Yuki was happy, she would want to be the one to make him feel that way. But, at the same time, she was releived that he was happy, regardless of the reason. Ahiru inwardly glared at Tohru, but tried her hardest to be happy for him. In her next class, 'Asuka' took her seat next to Yuki. She couldn't even look at him because it hurt so much. For this, she felt foolish. She should be happy for him. But she wasn't. At least, not as happy for him as she believed she should've been. Yuki glanced over, and as 'Asuka' took out her notebook, he saw his name written all over it. He blushed slightly, and quickly looked away. "Just another fangirl." He thought to himself. After school, 'Asuka' was eager to meet Yuki again at the lockers. But once again, when she got there, he was already talking to Tohru. She ran off. She didn't want to see them together. She also didn't want to interrupt anything... That night, she hid in the tree again, and watched over Yuki. He tossed and turned in his sleep, and she could tell he was having a bad dream. She snuck into his room, watching his pain was unbearable to her. She sat right by his bed, and stared at him, trying to think of a way to clam his fears. She blushed, and leaned closer. She had read it somewhere before, that if you really love someone, you can kiss them out of a nightmare. Her lips just barely brushed against his, before she pulled away. It seemed wrong. He loved someone else. She had no right to do this. But God, it felt so good to be that close. So, she leaned in again, and this time liplocked. She held the kiss until she felt him kiss back. She panicked, and thought she had woken him up. But when she looked, she saw that he was still asleep. Her plan had worked, though. He seemed to be sleeping much calmer now. " To..hru... " He mumbled in his sleep as he smiled. Once again, the pain struck her heart. She winced, the pain becoming more sharp. "So it DIDN'T work." She thought to herself. " The only reason he calmed was because he thought it was Tohru... " With that lingering thought, 'Asuka' went back out to the tree, and simply watched him. " ... I love you, Yuki-sama.. " She whispered to herself before her body demanded sleep. She drifted into slumber, a single tear falling as her eyes closed.

CHAPTER 8
‘Asuka’ awoke, and nearly fell out of the tree when she saw Yuki walking into his house. “ What the.. Oh s**t! ” She blurted. He must’ve already left for school, and forgot something! Yuki dropped his backpack by the front door, and let out a small sigh. “ Asuka wasn’t at school today. ” He informed Shigure. “ Oh? Maybe she’s sick. ” Gure-san said. “ She seemed fine yesterday… But she didn’t talk to me at all yesterday, now that I think about it. It’s starting to bother me. ” Yuki pondered why this bothered him so much. There was just something about Asuka that made him curious. “ Hmm… ” Shigure smiled in amusement. Yuki walked into his room, and sat in his bed, thinking. ‘Asuka’ glanced over to Yuki’s window, and it soon occurred to her that she slept through the school day. “ Please don’t kill me, Asuka! ” Ahiru panicked. A small voice in her head echoed. It was Asuka’s voice. “ You idiot. At least I don’t need to go to school. You’re very fortunate that I’m above-average. ” Ahiru blinked. “ Asuka-san? ” “ What? ” Asuka’s voice was heard again in the back of Ahiru’s mind. “ I’m sorry. ” Ahiru felt guilty for using Asuka’s body like this. “ Eh. It’s fine. Dating the most popular boy in school will be good for my reputation anyway.” Ahiru glared inwardly. “ So you have no feelings for Yuki-senpai? ” “Nope.” Asuka mused. “ And you don’t mind me using your body as a puppet? ” Ahiru was slightly confused as to where the logic was in all this. “ Not really. ” Asuka laughed. “ Alright. ” Ahiru was a bit uneasy. ‘How can she let me just do this? And all for the reputation?’ Ahiru thought to herself. ‘ Well… I’m getting closer to Yuki-sama, at least ’ Yuki’s glance wandered, until he caught sight of a red-haired figure sitting in the tree outside his window. He bolted up, and walked to the window. “ A-Asuka? ” He was confused, and felt a bit awkward. ‘Asuka’ flinched. She had been talking to herself, which is probably what made Yuki notice. She looked at him sheepishly, and waved. Yuki sweatdropped, and walked outside. “ What are you doing? ” He asked in bewilderment. “ Stalking you! ” ‘Asuka’ spoke bluntly. She grinned, and hopped out of the tree. Yuki blushed, and merely stared at her. ‘ She’s kidding, right? She can’t be serious…’ He thought. ‘ Asuka ’ and Yuki stared at each other blankly for a moment, before they both blushed and looked away. “ Hey, you talk in your sleep a lot. Did you know that? ” Ahiru glared, and sighed inwardly as she remembered how he mumbled Tohru’s name the previous night. “ N-No, I wasn’t aware. ” He was surprised that she had been watching him long enough to notice something like that. “ What exactly did I say? ” He questioned curiously. ‘Asuka’ glared sharply. “ Tohru. ” Yuki blushed deeply. “ Oh. ” Was all he could say. “ Yes, well, I have better things to do than watch you. You’re pretty boring, actually. ” Ahiru didn’t exactly feel bad for that one. He totally had it coming. “ Wait! Can’t you stay just a little longer? I mean, I didn’t see you all day. ” ‘Asuka’ blushed again, but only a little considering she was still a little upset. “ Why do YOU care? ” She said in a not rude, but not nice way. “ To you, I’m just a stalker fangirl like everyone else, right?” “ Well… No. For whatever reason, I really want to get to know more about you.. ” He looked down in embarassment. “ Alright then. As you wish. ” She bowed before stepping into his house, with him at her side. Ahiru smiled on the inside. He seemed to like her. Maybe not as anything more than an aquiantance, but still… It made her happy just to be near him, and have him talk to her. “ Oh! We have a guest! ” Came that high-pitched, overly excited voice. ‘Asuka’s’ eye twitched as Tohru pranced into the room with a huge smile on her face. “ Welcome, Asuka! ” She cheered. ‘ … You’re kidding. SHE lives with him? Oh great, they probably have ******** children on the way. ’ She sighed as she assumed the worst. Tohru merely smiled. And that, was when Ahiru knew what hatred and jealousy really was.
---------------
CHAPTER 9
Tohru hugged ‘Asuka’ and Yuki merely watched with a smile on his face. “ … Please refrain from touching me. I don’t want AIDS. ” ‘ Asuka ’ glared. Yuki frowned. “ Please be nice, Asuka-san. ” He had feelings for Tohru, and it was painfully obvious. “ As you wish… ” She sighed in annoyance. Tohru still smiled, and offered Asuka a cup of water. ‘Asuka’ shook her head, and somewhat hid behind Yuki. Yuki looked at Asuka, and smiled a little. “ Well, let’s go back up to my room, shall we? ” He smiled more, and motioned toward the stairway. “ H-Hai. ” ‘Asuka’ blushed at his breath-taking smile, and walked with him upstairs. Tohru waved. “ Bye! Have fun! If you need anything, just tell me! ” “ What I NEED is for you to burn in Hell, you stupid skank. ” ‘Asuka’ mumbled under her breath. Yuki looked at her. “ Hm? ” He didn’t hear what she said, and was curious as to why she looked to angry. She looked back at him, and smiled innocently. She said nothing. They got upstairs to Yuki’s room, where Yuki got a chair out for Asuka. Yuki sat on his bed, right across from her. Asuka and Yuki talked and talked, until it was almost midnight. ‘Asuka’ looked at the clock. “ Uh-oh, Yuki-sama. I think you should get to bed. ” Yuki looked at the clock as well, and nodded. “ You should too. ” ‘Asuka’ laughed a little, and shook her head. “ I don’t sleep very much. ” “ Why not? You need sleep. ” He was doubtful at this. She always appeared that she had gotten her beauty sleep. “ And you must sleep. You said it yourself you need your rest so you can keep looking good. ” Inwardly, Ahiru winced. “ Well, yes, but beauty comes naturally to me either way. ” ‘Asuka’ winked. Yuki and Asuka laughed a little, before ‘Asuka’ left his house. As she walked off, Yuki watched her from his window, sighing. He smiled as he stared, and blushed as he realized how awkward that is. “ Er… HONDA-SAN! ” He called. Tohru ran up stairs, and looked around. “ Yes, Sohma-kun? Is everything alright? ” “ Yes, but I need to tell you something. ” Tohru smirked on the inside, her plan was working. She had finally gotten Yuki to fall head over heels for her. On the outside, she maintained her sweet, innocent appearance. “ What is it? ” “ I think… I think I .. ” He tried to figure out how to put his feelings into words. “ I think I may have feelings for… Asuka-san. ” He blushed. “ … Oh. I see. ” Tohru glared, her kindness fading. Yuki looked at her, and was shocked. “ Honda-san? Does that bother you? ” “ Yes, yes it does. Because you’re supposed to love ME. ” “ You see, Tohru, I did. DID. And then you went with Kyou, and ripped my heart out. I don’t need to be around a person who doesn’t return my feelings. It hurts too much. ” Yuki calmly explained. “ But I was wrong. ” Tohru looked at him with seductive eyes. “ I love YOU, Sohma-kun. ” Yuki blushed, and looked away. “ Please leave, Tohru. ” And with that, Tohru stormed off into her room, and began plotting. “ He WILL love me. Everyone will love me… ” She smirked.
Meanwhile, ‘Asuka’ sat in a nearby alley, smiling at the warm feeling she got with Yuki. She jumped up, and twirled around. “ Yuki-sama~ ” She squealed, overcome with love. “ Tomorrow, we’ll see each other again! ” At the same time, Tohru was plotting against Asuka. “ He can’t love anyone else. ” “ Ah, Yuki, my love! ” The words flowed so freely from her mouth it was almost like she’d said it a million times. She sat back down, and looked up to the sky. A shooting star dashed across the night sky, and Ahiru’s soul fluttered. She made a wish, and silently hummed a song. She stood up once more, and made her way back to Yuki’s house.
-----------------
CHAPTER 10
Tohru was expecting Asuka to return, as she noticed her near the house quite a bit. She waited silently for Asuka to approach. Finally, ‘Asuka’ made it to Yuki’s house. She was just about to climb up in the tree next to Yuki’s window when Tohru walked up behind her. “ What are you doing? ” Tohru questioned. “ Uh… I was… looking for Yuki-sama… ” She put her hands on her hips, and scoffed. “ Oh. I see. Did you need something? ” Tohru’s eyes narrowed. ‘Asuka’ glared. “ Yeah, I need your boyfriend. ” Ahiru hadn’t watched Tohru nearly as much as she watched Yuki, but from what she had seen, she assumed Yuki and Tohru had a relationship. “ Kyou? ” Tohru gave Asuka a weird look. “ Who? ” ‘Asuka’ returned the look. They both laughed a little, before glaring some more. “ Yuki-sama is mine. He loved me before he ever even LIKED you. ” Tohru smirked again. “ He … likes me? ” ‘ Asuka’ blushed. Maybe she was just stupid, but she hadn’t even thought of Yuki liking her as more than a friend a possibility. Tohru rolled her eyes.“ He’s falling for you as we speak. And I won’t allow you to take my place. ” In the mean time, Yuki was laying in his bed, occassionally glancing out at the tree to see if Asuka was there. He sighed everytime, finding that she wasn’t there. Then, there was a loud SMACK! that caught Yuki’s attention. He ran to his window, where he heard the noise. He looked, and saw Tohru and Asuka standing across from each other. Tohru had a red mark across her face now, where Asuka had clearly struck her. “ YOU DON’T EVEN LIKE YUKI! ” Tohru shouted in anger. “ You’re right. I don’t. ” At this, Yuki felt his heart sink. “ I don’t like him. I LOVE him. ” ‘Asuka’ said with much confidence, and honesty. Now, Yuki’s thoughts were racing, and so was his heart. “ You selfish b***h. You’re not capable of loving anyone but yourself. ” Tohru scoffed. Ahiru wanted so badly to silence Tohru by stapling her mouth shut, but she knew she couldn’t. She also knew Yuki was watching. “ Tohru, that’s not true. ” She did the Z-snap formation thing, mainly for humor. “ Sorry b***h, but I’m not you. ” And at that, she looked up at Yuki, who was laughing. She smiled at him. Tohru ran off, infuriated. Yuki motioned for Asuka to come inside, and she did. She snuck up into his bedroom, careful not to wake Shigure or anyone else up. She reached Yuki’s room, and saw him waiting for her. He grinned. “ Thank you, Asuka. ” “ Eh? ” She blushed at the kindness he was giving her. Yuki felt an overpowering force, telling him to just go for it and kiss her. Alas, he could not. “ For hitting Tohru. It’s opened my eyes to what a unkind person she is. I guess I never saw it before… Until I told her I loved YOU. ” He looked serious, and locked his gaze with hers. Ahiru was flustered, and in her mind was running around in circles, jumping for joy. ‘Asuka’, outwardly, blushed deeply. “ Ah… Well … Did you hear the part about me loving you too, or do I have to repeat it? ” Yuki smiled slyly. “ I heard you. But, it wouldn’t hurt for you to say it again, ” “ I love you, Yuki-sama… ” She was so tempted to hug him. “ And if you weren’t a rat, I’d hug you. ” “ So you DO know? ” “ Yeah. ” She smiled half-heartedly, remembering the verbal abuse Yuki would get from Akito about that. “ It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It makes you unique. ” Yuki thought for a moment, before smiling. “ If you want to look at it that way, I suppose you’re right. But Akito called it a curse… ” “ Akito is a lying douchebag. Don’t listen to him. And curses can be good things sometimes. ” Yuki laughed as ‘Asuka’ insulted Akito, but said nothing. There was a short silence, before Yuki spoke again. “ So, are you going to stalk me again? ” She blushed.“ Of course. ” Yuki smiled, and took ‘Asuka’s’ hand. With a soft gaze, he gently kissed her hand, and smiled more. ‘Asuka’s’ eyes widened, and she blushed deeply. Ahiru had a jolt of pure bliss sent through her body at all of this. She was too happy for words, really. At last, Asuka left, and sat in the tree as she usually did. Though, this time, Yuki smiled at her, and fell asleep. Ahiru mumbled to herself. “ Sweet dreams, my Prince.. ” She blushed at her own words before falling asleep as well.

CHAPTER 11
‘Asuka’ didn’t dream that night, for some reason. Instead, she had a horrid nightmare that scared her half to death. She awoke with a start, at about 4am. She immediately looked at Yuki, who was still sleeping soundly. She flinched a little at visions she had seen in her dream, and fell backwards. She fell out of the tree, and fell with a loud thump. “ ********. ” She blurted out as she sat up. She winced a little as she realized she had fallen on her tailbone. She sighed, and stood up. She walked around a bit, pacing, and comprehending what her nightmare meant. Alas, she came to her realization. But, she pushed that dark thought to the back of her mind, and continued on with her day. At school, Yuki talked to her a lot more, and avoided Tohru. It made Ahiru so happy to know Yuki had feelings for her, even if they were mild ones. As time went on, Yuki and Asuka grew closer together, eventually, Asuka took Tohru’s place in Shigure’s house. “ Yuki-sama? ” ‘Asuka’ questioned as she walked to school with Yuki. “ Yes? ” He smiled at her as he took her hand into his. Ahiru inwardly blushed, and got that odd tingly feeling throughout her body. ‘ Asuka’ smiled. “ What about the fangirls? Won’t they be mad?” Yuki scoffed. “ I honestly don’t care. They mean nothing to me. ” He reassured her. ‘Asuka’ laughed a little, and nodded. Yuki and ‘Asuka’ approached the school, holding hands. Immediately, the fangirls (And Tohru) ran up to them, scowling. “ PRINCE YUKI?! With HER?! ” They all gasped in unison. ‘ Asuka’ glared sharply. “ Please get cancer. ” “ HEY! I’ll have you know that we love Yuki WAY more than you ever will! ” This time, Yuki glared. “ I suggest you be quiet. ” He said with a hint of anger in his voice. ‘ Asuka’ just looked at him. ‘ Wow, he looks kinda… creepy when he’s mad.’ She laughed to herself. Yuki turned his gaze back to Asuka, and smiled gently. “ Pay no attention to them, my love.” Ahiru’s eyes widened. “LOVE?! EH?? I… But.. Eh-heh…” She was flustered beyond all explaination, but undenyably happy. ‘Asuka’ blushed and nodded while the fangirls (And Tohru) simply stormed off in an angry rage. Yuki smiled more as he walked off to his first hour class. ‘Asuka’ watched him for a moment before realizing the bell had rang. She dashed off to class, not wanting to ruin her perfect attendance. In her first hour, however, was Shinji Ikari. Asuka was madly in love with him, though she hid it well. But Ahiru couldn’t stand him. Luckily, pretending to hate Shinji in Asuka’s body was very easy. “ Hey Asuka! ” Shinji smiled and waved to her from a few seats across. ‘Asuka’ glared, and said nothing. Why did he always have the nerve to say hi to her when she never said hello back? “What an idiot.” She mumbled. Things were always like that, though. So, first hour continued on as it normally did, and as soon as it got out, ‘Asuka’ rushed to her next class as she always did, where she knew she would see Yuki. However, she experienced Déjà vu when she saw Yuki standing next to Tohru and talking to her…

CHAPTER 12
However, this time, Yuki wasn’t smiling while talking to her. “ Yo, Tohru. ” ‘Asuka’ called as she approached her. Tohru smirked, and simply walked away. Yuki looked at Asuka. “ Thank God. I thought she’d never leave. ” Yuki chuckled as Asuka smiled triumphantly. They walked into their next hour, and ‘ Asuka ’ sat behind Yuki as she normally did. She sighed happily to herself as she took out her notebook, which was completely covered in scribbles of Yuki’s name and little hearts all over it. Yuki looked over his shoulder, and saw the notebook. He blushed, surprised he never saw it before. ‘Asuka’ ripped out a piece of paper, crumpled it, and threw it at Shinji. Yuki sweatdropped as Shinji turned around and shot a wimpy glare at Asuka. Things were as they always were. And then, that one menacing little thought pushed it’s way back into Ahiru’s thoughts. She’d tried to ignore it, and she tried to just be happy. And so far, it had worked. ‘Asuka’ looked at Yuki uneasily for a moment. “ Is something wrong? ” Yuki questioned. She shook her head, but asked the sensei to be excused. Yuki watched her walk out of the room in a somewhat rushed manner. Halfway down the hall, Asuka’s voice interrupted Ahiru’s thoughts. “ You know… He’s in love with ME. Not you. ” Ahiru sighed as she separated herself from Asuka’s body, and stood face to face with her. “ Yes, I know. Which is why I’m going to leave you two alone now. I’m only interfering… ” Ahiru’s wing was still injured, and bleeding as she looked down to the floor. At this, Asuka nearly panicked. “ What?! No! You can’t! I don’t even like the guy! ” “ Then leave him. ” Ahiru glared a little. Asuka shook her head. “ Do you WANT to break his heart? ” “ Of course not. But this isn’t right either. And I’m sorry for everything, Asuka-sama. ” Ahiru bowed as her depression began to take a hold of her. Asuka glared, but said nothing. “ It was a mistake. I see it now, that I never should’ve used your body just to get closer to him. I’ve made a fool of myself, and now Yuki’s heart is at stake… ” Ahiru held back tears as she thought of how much it would hurt Yuki if he found out that it was all a lie. “ It doesn’t matter. Do you want Yuki to be happy? ” Asuka smirked somewhat evily. “ Of course I do. ” Ahiru said with confidence. “ Then just keep doing what you’ve been doing. If you don’t, he’ll be miserable. ” Asuka pointed out. Though, Asuka really didn’t care about Yuki’s well-being. She merely wanted Ahiru to be in her body because it made Asuka’s pain fade. The memories of her past, everything. She couldn’t feel any of it while Ahiru controlled her. Ahiru sighed, and with Yuki’s happiness in mind, she fused her soul with Asuka’s once more, and stepped into the classroom, hanging her head slightly. Yuki perked up as she entered the room, but his smile faded when he saw the dismay that shown in her expression. “ Asuka… Are you okay? ” He asked, worried. “ Am I ever? ” She said bluntly as she sat down, still not giving Yuki eye contact. It was at that moment, that Yuki knew something was wrong.

CHAPTER 13 ( Yay for lucky numbers! xD )
After school that day, as ‘Asuka’ and Yuki were walking home, there was an awkward silence. Until, finally, Yuki stopped walking, and looked at Asuka with the utmost concern. “My love… Please tell me what’s wrong..” Ahiru, of course, could not say what she wanted to say. But by now, she knew everything there was to know about Asuka. She decided she would take advantage of this. “ N-Nothing, Yuki. Just… well… memories have been finding their way back to my mind, is all. ” She faked a smile, as if to reassure him. Yuki’s concern did not ease, however. With a small sigh, ‘Asuka’ explained everything about her past as her and Yuki continued walking. About her mother, the ragdoll that haunted Asuka’s darkest nightmares, all of it. Yuki felt much sympathy for her, and as Asuka’s voice echoed in Ahiru’s mind again, ‘Asuka’ ourwardly winced. “ FOOL. How dare you speak such NONSENSE. ” Asuka growled. “ Oh, be quiet.. ” Ahiru shrugged it off as a mere distraction to the real problem at hand. As Ahiru saw it, Yuki was fragile. He’d been through so much that Ahiru felt horrible for making his life more difficult. “ But… It’s okay.. I’m sure I’ll be better soon. ” She gave Yuki a quick kiss on the cheek. Yuki frowned. “ I’m sorry I can’t hold you close like a normal person, Asuka.. ” He looked down as he remembered that he’d turn into a rat. Ahiru felt a spark light up inside her, and ‘Asuka’ grinned. “ Well cheer up, Yuki-kun! Because I can fix that for you! ” She tried to sound cheery, despite Yuki’s not-so-happy demeanor. Yuki looked at her blankly. “ Well, unless you don’t want me to fix it.” “ You mean.. You can break the curse? ” “ Yep. ” At this comment, Yuki had wished she had done it sooner. Regardless, he was grateful. So, with a few chants, and a big flash of light, the Sohma curse was broken. Yuki smiled, and hugged Asuka so tight he was worried he might be hurting her. “ AH! Y-Yuki… ” She was a little surprised, but she didn’t exactly mind. Ahiru cheered inwardly, and ‘Asuka’ hugged back just as tight. Right now, they still hadn’t finished walking home from school, so they were outside. ‘Asuka’ blushed as Yuki wouldn’t let go. “ Um.. I think we should get home before Shigure starts to worry… ” “ In a moment… I just want to hold you right now… ” Yuki smiled as he nuzzled her neck. ‘Asuka’s’ blush darkened. She didn’t bother to argue with him, since she didn’t mind. (at all. XD)
When they finally got home, Yuki announced to everyone that Asuka had broken the Sohma curse. Blah blah blah, cheer, horay, woot, you know what happens.
However, Ahiru knew that she would have to end all of it soon. She knew it would hurt Yuki, but she didn’t want Yuki to be living a lie like this. “ It’s not right… ” Ahiru kept telling herself. Asuka, on the other hand, was plotting, and trying to figure out a way to change Ahiru’s mind. So, with that lingering thought, ‘Asuka’ went to sleep around 9:30 as she always did. She savored the moment, because she knew it would be the last moment that things would be this way… Once more, as she always did, Ahiru mumbled to herself. " I love you, Yuki-sama... " But this time, she felt it would have more meaning for the day to come.

CHAPTER 14
“Asuka~!” Yuki chimed in as Ahiru was ripped out of another nightmare. ‘Asuka’s’ eyes fluttered open as she looked at Yuki, who was standing before her. “ I have a surprise for you! ” Yuki seemed unusually cheery this morning. “ Ehhh… ” She groaned. “Five more minutes…” She pulled the covers over her more, and Yuki laughed. “ Aww, come on! You’ll love it! ” He grinned. “ Fine, fine. ” She sighed sleepily and got up.Yuki took her by the hand, and led her outside, where it was lightly snowing. ‘Asuka’ immediately snapped awake at the cold air. Yuki pointed toward a large scape of pure snow, and smiled again. In the snow, written in HUGE letters, were the words:“Marry me?” ‘Asuka’ blushed deeply, and looked at Yuki. Yuki got down on one knee, and held out a little black box. He smiled hopefully, and was blushing as well. Ahiru didn’t know whether to be overjoyed, or horribly disappointed. Well, she decided that since he was purposing to ASUKA, and not HER, she really had no reason to be overjoyed at this. But, since she was about to break Yuki’s heart, she felt an overwheling guilt. However, she hid it all, for Yuki’s sake. ‘Asuka’ nodded slowly, unable to find the words she wanted to say. She glomped him, and there was about a 5-minute huggle fest. ( o.o Heh.. )
After they went inside, they immediately started planning. So, Ahiru had to wait before telling him. Because if she told him now, it would probably hurt the most. At this point, Ahiru began thinking of ways to make the truth hurt a little less. Maybe not sugar-coating it, but just a way to make it maybe not hurt so much.
At the wedding, ‘Asuka’ thought of a way to make their bond more special. She took Yuki to a place where no one would see them. “ Take off your shirt.” She said bluntly. Yuki blushed. “ What? Why? ” “ Just do it. ” She grinned. So, Yuki took off his shirt, and looked at her curiously. “ Okay… Now what? ” “ Close your eyes.” ‘Asuka’ was still grinning when she said this. Obediantly, Yuki closed his eyes. ‘Asuka’ leaned close to his chest, and kissed him right above his heart. Yuki abruptly opened his eyes, and blushed deeply. ‘ Asuka ’ smiled, and loooked up at him. On Yuki’s chest, right above his heart, was a tattoo-like mark in the shape of a heart. Yuki looked at it, and gave Asuka a curious look. She was blushing as well, and she unbuttoned her blouse thing just enough to reveal… stuff. Yuki’s eyes widened, and his blush darkened. “ Here. ” ‘Asuka’ pointed to the area right above her heart. “ Kiss me here.” Yuki, without a second thought, did as Asuka said. He had to hold back from doing anything else. Asuka smiled, and the same mark that was left on Yuki, was now embedded on her as well. “ Now if another man kisses me here, my heart will stop.” Yuki blinked. “ And if another woman kisses me there, my heart will stop too?” Yuki didn’t mind this little fact at all. “ Yeah.” ‘Asuka’, however seemed a bit uneasy, though. Yuki smiled, and gently kissed her cheek. “ But don’t worry. No other woman will be kissing me there. ” ‘ Asuka ’ smiled before walking back home, hand-in-hand with Yuki. ---------------
CHAPTER 15 (Small sidenote: Here are the ages of the characters thus far. Yuki=17 Ahiru=14 Asuka=15)
As the months grew on, Ahiru’s guilt started to overwhelm her. Asuka, meanwhile, was pretty content with things. Until one night, when Yuki and Asuka were asleep, Ahiru left Asuka's body. However, she found that Asuka's demonic soul had a tight grip onto hers. Ahiru, with much trouble, eventually left. But it hurt. Asuka still had a piece of her soul inside her, due to the clinging. Ahiru ignored this, and decided to just focus on telling Yuki the truth. Asuka woke up, and glanced over to the side of the bed to see Yuki standing there. He had just gotten out of the shower. Yuki smiled at her sweetly, and waved. "Good morning, love." At this, Asuka glared. Yuki looked at her curiously. "Is something wrong?" Asuka shook her head, and walked away. Ahiru, at this point, was in her human form. The form she had worked incredibly hard to master. She walked up to the door, and rang the door bell. Yuki sighed, and answered the door. Ahiru blushed a little as Yuki looked at her. She couldn't let Yuki know she loved him yet. It would be creepy. And she would seem like a stalker. Or worse.. He might mistake her for a fangirl. So, Ahiru glared playfully at Yuki, and crossed her arms across her chest. " Er... Hello... " Yuki was slightly confused. "Can I help you?" " No, you can't. But I might be able to help you. " Ahiru spoke bluntly. Asuka sensed something, and walked over to the door. Her eyes widened, and flared in anger. " AHIRU! What the HELL are you doing?! " Ahiru looked at Asuka, and stuck her tounge out. " We need to talk. NOW. " Asuka grabbed Ahiru by the arm, and dragged her into the house. Yuki watched, incredibly confused. Ahiru shoved Asuka away after they got into the bedroom. " I warned you, Asuka. " Ahiru pointed out. " I told you I wasn't going to keep quiet for much longer. " Asuka glared sharply, and retorted quickly. " Well NOW what?! " " Now, we tell him the truth. " At this moment, Yuki began approaching the door. But he stopped as he heard Asuka yell. " No! I don't even LIKE Yuki! I don't care if he knows the truth or not! " Yuki was suddenly overcome by sorrow as he listened closer. " YOU may not care about him. But I do, and I'm not letting you hurt him. " Ahiru shoved Asuka aside as she walked out of the room. Yuki looked at Ahiru, not sure of what to think.
P.S. Sorry this chapter is so short. x.x; I didn't want to put too much plot into one chapter.

CHAPTER 16
Ahiru shot a quick glance at Yuki, and blushed faintly. She bowed. “Gomen nasai, Yuki-sama.” Yuki looked at Asuka as she walked by, but said nothing. Ahiru walked out into the living room, as did Asuka. Yuki followed, wanting answers, but not sure how to get them. Asuka sat on the couch lazilly, and slouched. Ahiru sat beside Asuka, but not in as lazy of a manner. Yuki sat in between them both, and looked at Asuka. “What’s going on?” Asuka narrowed her eyes. “ Why don’t’ you ask HER, since she’s the one who wants to tell you so damn badly. ” Ahiru looked down, not sure of how to say everything she wanted to say. She was almost sure Yuki would hate her after this, and even so, she felt it was only right to tell him. Yuki looked at Ahiru, waiting impatiently for an answer. Ahiru smiled weakly, and spoke quietly. “ You see, Yuki-senpai… I.. well, Asuka doesn’t.." She doesn't love you. Ahiru thought to herself. But she knew if she said it, it would sound awful. Asuka had to be the one to say it. Ahiru looked up at Asuka, and glared. Asuka scoffed. “Fine, you want ME to tell him?” “ That would be helpful. ” Ahiru nodded. Yuki groaned, growing annoyed with the situation. “ Someone just tell me what’s going on.” Yuki demanded. Asuka sat up, and cleared her throat. “ I, Asuka Langley Soryu, am not in love with you, Yuki. I never was, and never will be. Your presence annoys the Hell out of me. And Ahiru, over there” Asuka motioned toward Ahiru, who seemed as if her spirits were falling as Asuka went on. “ She’s the one who loves you. It was her the whole time. Think of it as… She’s the part of me that loves you. And now she’s in her own separate form now, thanks to her stubborn attitude.” Yuki’s eyes widened, and Asuka’s words peirced his heart like the sharp blade of a sword. He quickly turned away from her, the distrustful look in her eye hurting him further. Ahiru held back her tears, as she knew what Yuki must be feeling at the moment. Asuka stood up. “ Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going now. ” Saying nothing more, she walked away, leaving Yuki and Ahiru alone. Yuki scooted on the other side of the couch, away from Ahiru. Ahiru’s voice was shaky. “ I’m really sorry, Yuki-sama… ” Yuki was holding back tears himself as he watched Asuka walk out the door. “ … N-No… I… she can’t really leave… I .. I love her… ” Yuki stopped holding back, and his tears flowed freely. Ahiru winced. ” I love her. ” Though she already knew this, it hurt worse to hear him say it. In front of her, while he actually KNEW she was there. Yuki got off the couch, and stared at Ahiru. “ So, you’re the… part of Asuka… that loves me? ” Ahiru was now shaking, both with hurt, and fear for Yuki's mental state. She nodded, and blushed ever so slightly. “Prove it.” Yuki said, trying to hide his sadness. Ahiru had to think hard about this one. A kiss? No.. You can kiss ANYONE… A hug? No.. too simple. Um… Something unique… Damn… There’s nothing I can---- Then Ahiru’s eyes brightened a little, and she perked up, and looked at Yuki. “ Come here, and I’ll show you.” She said, and Yuki stepped a little closer... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAPTER 17 [FINALLY!]
With an uneasy gaze, Ahiru looked at Yuki. He was glaring at her. "Hurry up, I'm not going to wait forever..." His voice was cruel, but Ahiru tried not to let it affect her. Yuki was hurt, and she knew she had to understand that. Taking one last deep breath Ahiru spoke. "The mark. L-Let me see it." She pointed to Yuki's chest, motioning for him to unbutton his shirt. At this point in time, Yuki could care less if his heart stopped; and he could tell my the look in Ahiru's eyes that she was going to kiss that mark Asuka had placed over his heart. He unbuttoned his shirt, an emotionless, cold look still upon his face. Blushing furiously, Ahiru pressed her lips to the mark above his heart. During this moment, Yuki awaited death. He was almost wishing for it. Yet he was shocked when no harm came to him. With a sudden rush of realization, Yuki looked at Ahiru in amazement. Now, he realized that everything he fell in love with, the one he made his wedding vows to, the person that had always been by his side, was not Asuka. It was Ahiru. Ahiru looked up at him, her eyes still teary. She could feel her heart pounding against her ribs as she revealed to Yuki the mark that was embedded on her chest. She didn't look at him as he observed her marking, she was still extremely worried for Yuki's mental health. She had no way of knowing what he was thinking. With tears rolling down his face, Yuki pulled Ahiru to him, hugging her tightly. "You... it was you all along, wasn't it?" Ahiru, too shocked to speak, just nodded, a jolt of happiness pulsating through her as Yuki embraced her. "I'm.. so sorry... I know I said I loved Asuka, but," He held her closer to him, trying to control his sobs. "The feeling that she used to give me... It's the feeling that I'm getting from you..." With his thoughts racing, Yuki realized he didn't really know her name. He struggled to remember, if Asuka had mentioned it. He smiled, feeling Ahiru tremble in his arms. "I love you, 'Asuka'." He leaned close to her ear, whispering. "Or should I say; My sweet Ahiru?" Ahiru's heart jumped. That name... Her eyes widened. She looked at Yuki, not sure what to think, or how to react. Not knowing what else to do, she smiled at him. When he returned her smile, she felt happpy - for the first time in her life. Yuki stood up, wiping his tears from his face. He offered his hand to Ahiru, his eyes meeting hers as he helped her from the ground. "Yuki-sama... I--" She was taken back as her apology was cut short. Yuki had pulled her to him once more, and pressed his lips onto hers suddenly. After a moment, he pulled away, smiling brilliantly at her. Ahiru was speechless, and her lips were tingling somewhat. She blushed deeply, and just stared at him. "No more crying..." Yuki noticed her eyes start to swell with tears again. He caressed her cheek gently as Ahiru forced her tears back. "No more crying." She nodded, smiling for the first time in a long time.
And thus ends our melancholy story, because we all know what happens when people live happily ever after, no?
