Its weird, its funny, its yeah, it's my life.
I don't know if I turned this in or not. I know kinda late.

Technical Addiction

A bright light shined upon me.
I looked up from the nest of papers that surrounded my body.
The light was that of my computer screen.
Calling, waiting, watching.
Before that moment I had vowed to

use it no more

but the temptation was hard to resist

it kept on
Calling me, watching me, waiting for me.
I looked around me.
Papers scattered all over the floor.
HOmework, ALL damn HOMEWORK.
I continued to fuss with the ever growing paper work
while gazing at the blank screen with longing.

Then all of a sudden a jolt went through my body.
My hands began to twitch, as did the rest of my body.
Then as if being pulled by an unspeakable force,
the mouse was in my hand at the blink of an eye
and all of a sudden I was in another world.

Exploring the regions of the world wide web
faster than the speed of light.
So many sights, oh so many sights.
Where to begin.
Names flashed before my mind:
MySpace, YouTube, Yahoo
All so familiar and yet so distant.
Gaia, Neopets, Google.
It was all too much.
It was like being on an ever going path,
There was no end in sight.

And then the unthinkable happened:
At first the computer screen began to flicker.
I thought of this as no great matter

things got stedily worse.
My eyes were glued to the screen,
My fingers shook.
Than I heard the voice,
"Stop" it said, "STOP"
But I couldn't stop,
I was past the place of no return,
I was addicted

There was no beginning or end to the cycle.
There was only the feeling of power.
The power that came with just a click of the mouse.
The tap of the key.
There was no stopping me.
Never.

But alas all good things

must come to an end.
A bitter end.
At first I didn't feel the
Presence behind me.
My body was as numb

Like that of a frozen monkey.
I couldn't move .
I couldn't breathe.
It was only when she wacked me
I realized she was there.

My fifteen munites were up and now it was
Her turn.
WHACK.
Get off the computer!
I didn't hear her that time.
WHACK!
Get OFF the computer now!
NEVER, I replied.
WHACK!
I'll turn it off if you don't move!
WHACK!

And with that the screen went blank.
I came returned to reality with a sudden
THUMP.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
All those places and sites
Disappeared before my eyes
In an instant.
And there was no going back.

I looked around me with new eyes.
Nothing had changed.
I was still surrounded with a sea of paper.
All homework,
All due tomorrow.
This is the result of a fatal decision,
To give in to a deadly addiction.
