Ok. My mom got the time for my doctor appointment wrong, so we missed it and had to reschedule. Mom decides to get me Chinese food. We have to wait 15 mins for it to be ready.
So, we pop in the Ideal store near the Chinese place. I'm looking at these cards that had these dark, very SEXY fairies on them...*cough cough* Anyways! ^_^;;;
I hear this kid calling for his mom, and I have a tendency to eavesdrop, so I was waiting for his mom to reply. But...she didn't. I heard the kid talking to the cashier "Did a tall lady in blue come by here?"
"Well, there was a lady like that stading out there talking on her cell phone a little while ago...about 20, maybe 30 minutes ago."
"Noooo..."
I was looking at the kid. I so wanted to say something. "You lost your mom? Do you know your home phone number?" I wanted to ask. If he did, I would take my mom's phone and let him use it, but....I didn't say anything...
*sobs*
WHY?!? DAMNIT! I can NEVER talk at times like that....when I want to help...the words freeze in my throat, and stay there...
A few minutes later, I saw the kid walking with this fat lady in a purple shirt. She was babbling on, and the kid was walking away from her, but FAST. She followed.
I wanted to go up and say "Kid, let me help you out." But I COULDN'T! The words wouldn't come...
He got into the lady's van, last I saw...
And I keep thinking back to it, about how things would have gone if I HAD spoken up. GOD...I have a problem.
Tell me...why do I feel like I did something so wrong? Like I'm a terrible person?
Why couldn't I SPEAK?
