My Book of Dark Poetry
This is what i write......
I close my eyes to fall asleep,
welcoming the dark,
the coming deep.
The deep in which I find solitude,
the dark in which,
there is much mulitude.

In the dark I dream,
a thought, scary but true.
Of a place seared with sun,
a place where there is seldom, fun.

The fighting there is fierce,
of which there is no peace.
You run and hide and give back the fight,
adding more, even in the night.
The echos of dying screams sorround you,
allowing little rest,
the next day spent walking through the street,
closing the eyes of those who have found eternal rest.

I move onto the next hill,
looking back and motioning for others to follow.
They look and match like me,
but their expressions are hollow and there is no will.
Perhaps that's how I feel,
but swallow it to show no fear.
Instead, taking the lead to lead them,
farther away from the death, here.

My body twists,
hoping to end the nightmare.
But little stops this ride,
my breath breaking the ragid air.
In my mind we continue,
wiping out those who would wish to do us harm.
Always taking the lead and running,
but never knowing where I am going.

The world changes from death,
to that of life and neverending light.
Rolling hills and tall, green grass,
sunlight that is gentle on the skin,
but warms you from within.
A very close friend is there,
she smiles and grabs my arm.

She motions to a distance tree,
pulling me towards it to see.
There are others here,
smiling they welcome me there.
But looking over my shoulder I find,
that the world I left, was not far behind.

She continued to pull on my arm,
but her grip slipped and I heard something rattle,
looking down I found two peices of metal.
Attatched they were to my neck,
though I pulled them off and put them around hers.

She turned her back on me,
something I had never wanted to see.
But when I placed my hand to turn her around,
the world reverted to the one I thought I had left behind.
Once more the dark swallowed me, a weapon in my hand.
And her face was that of the enemy,
leveling his at me.

Without a second thought I ran,
for what could I have done?
She had left me to fend for myself,
not wanting to show me her pain.
So once more I turned and ran,
ever leading the way,
but never knowing where I went.
