When I came to my senses
Cold mists splashed over my body,
Roars of rapid, rushing water surrounded me,
The red light of the setting sun glowed over me,
And I could see him and her
Still crying…
Still glaring…
How I wish their fight would end.
I can see my bit of land as well,
Dead and abandoned.
It is then that I know where I am…
A rock.
I am stuck on a rock in a river
And when I look around I see the boy,
The boy with the dark blue eyes.
He said something I didn’t understand
Over the crashing of the water
On this small boulder in the river.
“What?” I yelled,
“Why are we here?”
He sat in front of me,
His legs crossed and body relaxed.
He certainly wasn’t what I expected.
Tangled brown hair fell over his blotchy tan skin.
Everything about him was so normal…
Except those eyes.
“Choose where you wish to go then…
Or stay on this rock.” He said calmly.
“It isn’t that simple!” I yelled back
Over the crashes and watery roars.
“Okay, I’ll help…choose her.” He shrugged,
As if this were no issue at all.
“It isn’t so simple.
I can’t just choose her.”
“Why not?” he spat out quickly.
“Because…I can’t leave him like that.
It isn’t fair,
I care about him to much.”
I mumbled my words.
“So choose him.” The boy said bluntly.
“How could I choose him?
Not only do I see his fault,
But she is so close to me.”
The boy sighed and pointed out
Toward both him and her,
“Look at them,
I think your choice is obvious.”
I turned my back on the boy
And looked,
“And yet I cannot choose.” I muttered.
“He stood right behind me now,
“It’s really obvious…”
I felt his hands on my back
And in a single swift motion
He pushed gently, but enough to send me falling,
Falling into the river.
But just as I was above the water,
The moment before the splash,
I clearly heard him shout,
“Follow your heart,
You’re in love!”
