Today I got back from Chicago. I left Monday and in those short days I finally had a great time for the summer. I love Chicago. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. I love that there are millions of people right there next to me. I love walking down the street and being able to just watch all the different people. Hundreds of them, every day. Barley recognizing anyone twice. I love the buildings, hundreds of stories high. And I love there being stores and restaurants and parks and hundreds of things to do everyday. I love being walking distance from everything. I love going in Taxis and being able to look at the city as it zooms by. I love being able to stop at a starbucks and not even finsh my tall frapachino before I walk by another one. I just love it.
When we first left I was dreading the trip. Four days with my family, not my ideal way to have fun. And my parents, they got on my nerves in a major way. "Dear God no! We can't get close to the fireworks so we can see them without trees blocking the way, there are too many people!", and on the way home they literally held on to the back of my shirt, I swear to god I was not going to get lost. And they acted like complete tourists. I know, I know, we WERE tourists but still, TRY TO BLEND IT. But they were bearable. Oh and my father found out I had a Myspace and didn't ban me from ever going on the site again so I'm happy.
Anyways… Back to Chicago. So we left and drove 3 hours to get there. Once there we discovered that the Taste of Chicago Food Fest was there and I got really excited. I don't know about you but I had heard about it and was SUPER excited when we headed there for dinner. I had REALLY good food. And I enjoyed my first taste (wow I did that unintentionally but great pun) of how much I loved Chicago. Thousands of people, hundreds of different foods, I was ecstatic.
The next day we went to Sears Tower and then Navy Pier. This was by far my least favorite day. "Good view… I'm done now." Navy Pier wasn't anything great either but we took an "architect tour" and our Guide was really cute so the day was not totally wasted. At night we went and saw the fire works and they were pretty good. Not amazing. But I still really enjoyed them.
Our final full day was great. I spent the whole morning and afternoon with just my mom, so no arguments with dad, shopping on the magnificent mile. I didn't find a huge amount of stuff but I did get a pair of Converse shoes (not high tops), a shirt from Guess, and a shirt from H&M. It was wonderful shopping, and getting new clothes. Later was the whole reason we went to Chicago. To See Wicked. I loved it. IT WAS AMAZING. I must say the ending didn't TOTALLY fit but its Broadway. What can you expect? The music was great, and the set and costumes were MARVOLOUS!!
On a side note. As I said I love looking at all the people. I am just slightly obsessed with guys hair so I would take notice to guys hair on the street and I had my favorite hair and such but the winner by far was a guy who played a monkey and one of the dancers in the Oz Dust scene. I first noticed him because his Oz Dust Costume was… well… Unique. Alright fine. The guy was wearing a skirt. BUT THERE WERE PANTS UNDERNETHE! It was actually a really cool costume and I borrowed my mothers binoculars (we had REALLY good seats but my mother insisted on bringing them anyways) to examine closer and I saw his hair. It was quite emo, BUT IT WAS GODLY HAIR.
Anyways…
Today was the last day and we went to the Field Museum. Uneventful. But in general I had a great time.
My summer has been really depressing and I've only gotten to see a few people so I'm REALLY happy that something really good happened. I mean I have had fun with people. But going to Chicago was great.
When we are old enough some of you are coming with me to Chicago WITHOUT my parents since there hovering was the only thing that bothered me. And we are going to have a GREAT time.
Now, since it is past midnight, tomorrow I am leaving for Field Hockey Camp. And I hope it'll be just as fun finally being with people I know again, and having a good time, in-between running
Added 7/6/07 biggrin AMN IT! I just found out I am signed up for the completely wrong camp so I will NOT be seeing people there. *looks very angry* *grumbles* at leaste it's for single people too and I will still learn stuff...
