So. This is just a random rant about movies made from books.
I've been on a Harry Potter kick, as many may know, the 11th is the 5th movie and the 21st is the last book ()
Well, ABC hasn't been helping my fanaticism since they'll be showing all the movies this weekend.
So, we shall start with the Harry Potter movies.
The first one- very very close to the original book. Like, same dialog and everything. It's great! Just about everything exactly the way everyone pictured it, amazing actors, best Dumbledoor EVER. Yes yes, I know he died. Can't help people dying, but still. I don't much like the new guy.
So, the first one is great, a few things cut for time, but Ok. It happens, even though Hermione's part in the end is important and I liked it. But Ok, we have to make cuts. It happens. Now, the second one. Good, also close to the book, but with some changes. Made more dramatic, but still. I haven't watched it in a while, so yeah, I can't say specifics, but still. Great cast and all the rest.
Now, the third one. I loathe this movie with all that I am. It should drop dead and we should pretend it never happened. Different director- he replaced things that were CRUCIAL to the story line with things that DON'T MATTER! WE DON'T NEED A CHORUS SCENE AT THE BEGINNING! What we DO need is some explanation of the four boys and their relationships and WHY Harry's Patronus is a stag! a**. And, not only that, but he changes the scenery. AFTER TWO MOVIES! YOU CANNOT DO THAT DAMMIT! Plus, Donny Osmond is a good actor, like him in a bunch of movies. Not as Serius. Nope nope nope. Didn't work.
And the fourth one. Let's just leave Winky out. No Quidditch. Maze is wrong, no Sphinx. Neville did not give Harry the water stuff. That was the problem. And a few other things I can't think of now, but they were wrong x3
So, moving away from that. What's another horrible book-turned movie? Oh! Eragon! THAT'S a book that no one bothered to read, lemme tell you that. Right away- Arya. She is raven haired and tall, not petite and strawberry blond. And, she does NOT love Eragon, she just doesn't! She tells him so in both books! They just got the whole book wrong. Saphira did not learn to fly like that, they did not start talking like that, and it's wrong x3 His journey is much longer and that's not how he met what's-his name. They didn't show half of it, and that was like the whole book!
Oh, and now, the da Vinci Code. Lemme clue you in to the end- HER BROTHER IS ALIVE! He isn't dead. And that's not her grandma, it's Sanuier(sp)'s wife! It doesn't go much into what she saw with the sex and doesn't show half the symbols in the last Supper.
And then, there's Blood and Chocolate. I just refused to see it. All the previews- wrong. WRONG I TELL YOU!!!
