Blue skies, nice sunshine, nothing scheduled, all of which would have been a combo for a relaxing day... had Jayara actually gotten some sleep the night before. Lots of tossing and turning she supposed while her brain wouldn't turn off in the dark. Because of all that, she was tired and slightly cranky. It was these times that called for a little something to wake her up.

She dropped to knees beside her bed and stuck an arm underneath, feeling around for where she had stashed her bag of candy, quickly yanking it back out when something sharp jabbed into her arm.

"What the... ow," Jayara winced as she looked over the lengthy scratches that started from the back of her arm and lined down to her wrist, appearing bright red.

Cradling her arm for a moment, she reluctantly checked under the bed looking for a misguided bedspring that had broken out of place. Replacing the bulky mattress was the last thing she wanted to do today.

While inspecting the underside, there did not seem to be a spring out of place, though she did spot her bag of chocolates in the far corner as well as something odd beside it. It looked like a strange little toy of light green and of birdlike shape. Probably one of her younger siblings' playthings that was accidentally left behind and sucked into the underworld of her bed. After tending to the cuts she would move it out and find out whose it was.

Remembering the candy, she deftly snagged the bag, stood up, and turned toward the door - at least that was the plan until there was a loud BANG followed by random metallic-wrapped chocolates flying everywhere, one hitting Jayara square in the nose causing her a fit of sneezing.

When the sneezing finally died down, there was a nearly empty bag in her hands and a hissing sound coming from under the bed. She remained indecisive for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts while staring in the direction of the sound. When the individual candies began to explode, Jayara high-tailed it out of her room and to the bathroom next door.

In her sanctuary, Jayara vigilantly removed wrapper and chocolate from her hair before digging around in the drawers and cabinet for antiseptic and gauze for her arm. After finishing with the gauze, the cloud of confusion came back as Jayara rested her head on her hands, her elbows on the counter, and stared into the sink. The forlorn candy bag rested at the bottom since she had tossed it aside.

With a small sigh, she pulled a candy from the bag and carefully unwrapped it, half expecting it to explode at any moment. Relieved when it didn't do anything like the others, she popped it into her mouth. Her face scrunched into a bizarre look as the candy hit her tongue and she spat it back into the sink. Bittersweet? That wasn't what she bought. She tried another and the same thing happened. They were completely devoid of any sugar.

Tossing the remaining candy contents into the garbage, Jayara couldn't help thinking back to the toy under the bed. It was just a tinker toy, wasn't it?

Curiosity getting the best of her, she tiptoed to her open bedroom door. She could not hear the hissing anymore. Instead, there was a 'plop' and a shuffling noise. Peeking farther around the corner, Jayara watched as one of her pillows disappeared underneath the bed in a final tug. Looking a top her bed, she figured that must have been victim number two as another one was unaccounted for. Now granted, there were plenty of pillows left as she could never have enough of the things, but this was starting to grate on her nerves. Whatever it was that was under her bed could just shove it and go to the moon for all she cared.

*PLUFF*
Feathers flew out from underneath the bed.

That was it; she couldn't take it any more. Immediately she dropped herself in her desk chair, hit the power button on her pc, and began her internet hunt with just barely a handful of observations to go off of.

A few hours, a meal, and another two pillows later, Jayara pulled herself from the keyboard mentally exhausted. The only lead she had picked up had come from a website pertaining to another birdlike tinker toy, much of it only descriptive information calling the picture on the screen a Dream or whatnot.

Even though she thought she might have found a name to the face of the bird-thing, it did not explain much in the way of how to get rid of it. The longer she tried to find a solution, the more entrenched that thing got. It had already made a nook for itself inside the mattress after poking a hole in the bottom and then dragging the stray pillow feathers inside.

Jayara escaped not only her bedroom, but the her house as well for the rest of the day not wishing to be in the presence of the 'tinker toy time bomb'. When she returned from her outdoor adventure, she was pleased to see the pillows she had rescued still on the couch where she had stashed them. In order to prevent the deaths of any other of her precious pillows while she was gone from the house, Jayara had dug through her closet for an old pillow that had fallen into disuse as it kept spitting feathers out the worn-out corners. Carefully she had placed it at the side of the bed and then quick bolted with the remaining pillows on the bed. There were few incidents after that other than an exploding candy or two and a missing slipper.

It was time to sleep and as much as Jayara desired to sleep in her bed, that was not going to happen tonight. After switching into pajamas and brushing her teeth, she grabbed a multi-colored afghan and curled up on the couch with the remainder of the horde of pillows.
It was while she was sleeping that the creature from inside the bed spoke, but only two words in its telepathic way of speaking.

"Forest. Danger."

But Jayara would never hear any of it in her slumber.

Instead when she woke up, she saw sunlight streaming through a canopy of green above her and blades of blue-green grass beside her. She was not at home or even the forest that was located beside her house. Oblivious of how she ended up in this strange place (in her pajamas even), she started walking in hopes of finding some sort of civilization.

Unbeknownst to the lost dreamer, a flighty creature of lime-colored claws and eyes of emerald hue, watched from a distant limb, ever keeping her in its sight.
